B --> Phi K_S and Supersymmetry
The rare decay B --> Phi K_S is a well-known probe of physics beyond the
Standard Model because it arises only through loop effects yet has the same
time-dependent CP asymmetry as B --> Psi K_S. Motivated by recent data
suggesting new physics in B --> Phi K_S, we look to supersymmetry for possible
explanations, including contributions mediated by gluino loops and by Higgs
bosons. Chirality-preserving LL and RR gluino contributions are generically
small, unless gluinos and squarks masses are close to the current lower bounds.
Higgs contributions are also too small to explain a large asymmetry if we
impose the current upper limit on B(B_s --> mu mu). On the other hand,
chirality-flipping LR and RL gluino contributions can provide sizable effects
and while remaining consistent with related results in B --> Psi K_S, Delta
M_s, B --> X_s gamma and other processes. We discuss how the LR and RL
insertions can be distinguished using other observables, and we provide a
string-based model and other estimates to show that the needed sizes of mass

Probing SUSY-induced CP violations at B factories
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), the \mu-parameter and
the trilinear coupling A_t may be generically complex and can affect various
observables at B factories. Imposing the edm constraints, we find that there is
no new large phase shift in the B^0 - \bar{B^0} mixing, CP violating dilepton
asymmetry is smaller than 0.1 %, and the direct CP violation in B\to X_s \gamma

Revisiting Charmless Two-Body B Decays involving and
We have studied charmless two-body B decays involving and in
the framework of QCD improved factorization appraoch. The spectator hard
scattering mechanism for production have been re-examined and extended,
which contributions are incorporated consistently into the factorizable leading
contributions. It is found that the conventional mechanism would give which agrees with predictions based on naive
factorization approaches. With the incorporation of spectator hard scattering
mechanism contributions, theoretical predictions are improved much and the bulk
of are accommodated in the reasonable parameter space. We
have also presented calculations of
transition form factors within the standard hard scattering approach. It is
shown that the new contributions in the modes such as and
are small. Direct CP-violation in those
decay modes are predicted. It is shown that the prospects for measuring direct

Exploring flavor structure of supersymmetry breaking from rare B decays and unitarity triangle
We study effects of supersymmetric particles in various rare B decay
processes as well as in the unitarity triangle analysis. We consider three
different supersymmetric models, the minimal supergravity, SU(5) SUSY GUT with
right-handed neutrinos, and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with U(2)
flavor symmetry. In the SU(5) SUSY GUT with right-handed neutrinos, we consider
two cases of the mass matrix of the right-handed neutrinos. We calculate direct
and mixing-induced CP asymmetries in the b to s gamma decay and CP asymmetry in
B_d to phi K_S as well as the B_s--anti-B_s mixing amplitude for the unitarity
triangle analysis in these models. We show that large deviations are possible
for the SU(5) SUSY GUT and the U(2) model. The pattern and correlations of
deviations from the standard model will be useful to discriminate the different
SUSY models in future B experiments.Comment: revtex4, 36 pages, 10 figure
Evidence for B to K eta' gamma Decays at Belle
We present the results of a search for the radiative decay (B -> K eta'
gamma) and find evidence for (B^+ -> K^+ eta' gamma) decays at the 3.3 standard
deviation level with a partial branching fraction of (3.6 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.4) x
10e-6, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. This
measurement is restricted to the region of combined (K eta') invariant mass
less than 3.4GeVc^2. A 90% confidence level upper limit of 6.4 x 10e-6 is
obtained for the decay (B^0 -> K^0 eta' gamma) in the same (K eta') invariant
mass region. These results are obtained from a 605 fb^-1 data sample containing
657 x 10e6 B anti-B pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle

The Effect of Polyhydramnios on Cervical Length in Twins: A Controlled Intervention Study in Complicated Monochorionic Pregnancies
Objective: To test the hypothesis that cervical shortening in polyhydramnios reflects the degree of excess amniotic fluid, and increases with normalisation of amniotic fluid volume. Study Design: Prospective cohort study of 40 women with monochorionic twins undergoing interventional procedures between 16-26 weeks. Cervical length was assessed via transvaginal sonography pre-procedure, 1 and 24 hours postprocedure, and results compared between amnioreduction and control procedures. Amniotic fluid index (AFI) was measured pre- and post-procedure. Results: Pre-procedural cervical length correlated with AFI (linear fit = 5.07 -0.04x, R2 = 0.17, P = 0.03) in patients with polyhydramnios (n = 28). Drainage of 2000ml fluid (range 700-3500ml), reduced AFI from 42cm to 21cm (P>0.001). Their pre-procedural cervical length did not change at one (mean Î:-0.1cm, 95%CI, -0.4 to 0.2) or 24 hours (0.2cm, -0.1 to 0.6) after amnioreduction. There was no change in cervical length at control procedures. Conclusion: Cervical shortening in twins with polyhydramnios does not appear to be an acute process; cervical length can be measured before or after therapeutic procedures. © 2008 Engineer et al
Jet energy measurement with the ATLAS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV
The jet energy scale and its systematic uncertainty are determined for jets measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of âs = 7TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 38 pb-1. Jets are reconstructed with the anti-kt algorithm with distance parameters R=0. 4 or R=0. 6. Jet energy and angle corrections are determined from Monte Carlo simulations to calibrate jets with transverse momenta pTâ„20 GeV and pseudorapidities {pipe}η{pipe}<4. 5. The jet energy systematic uncertainty is estimated using the single isolated hadron response measured in situ and in test-beams, exploiting the transverse momentum balance between central and forward jets in events with dijet topologies and studying systematic variations in Monte Carlo simulations. The jet energy uncertainty is less than 2. 5 % in the central calorimeter region ({pipe}η{pipe}<0. 8) for jets with 60â€pT<800 GeV, and is maximally 14 % for pT<30 GeV in the most forward region 3. 2â€{pipe}η{pipe}<4. 5. The jet energy is validated for jet transverse momenta up to 1 TeV to the level of a few percent using several in situ techniques by comparing a well-known reference such as the recoiling photon pT, the sum of the transverse momenta of tracks associated to the jet, or a system of low-pT jets recoiling against a high-pT jet. More sophisticated jet calibration schemes are presented based on calorimeter cell energy density weighting or hadronic properties of jets, aiming for an improved jet energy resolution and a reduced flavour dependence of the jet response. The systematic uncertainty of the jet energy determined from a combination of in situ techniques is consistent with the one derived from single hadron response measurements over a wide kinematic range. The nominal corrections and uncertainties are derived for isolated jets in an inclusive sample of high-pT jets. Special cases such as event topologies with close-by jets, or selections of samples with an enhanced content of jets originating from light quarks, heavy quarks or gluons are also discussed and the corresponding uncertainties are determined. © 2013 CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS collaboration
Measurement of the inclusive and dijet cross-sections of b-jets in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
The inclusive and dijet production cross-sections have been measured for jets
containing b-hadrons (b-jets) in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass
energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The
measurements use data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb^-1.
The b-jets are identified using either a lifetime-based method, where secondary
decay vertices of b-hadrons in jets are reconstructed using information from
the tracking detectors, or a muon-based method where the presence of a muon is
used to identify semileptonic decays of b-hadrons inside jets. The inclusive
b-jet cross-section is measured as a function of transverse momentum in the
range 20 < pT < 400 GeV and rapidity in the range |y| < 2.1. The bbbar-dijet
cross-section is measured as a function of the dijet invariant mass in the
range 110 < m_jj < 760 GeV, the azimuthal angle difference between the two jets
and the angular variable chi in two dijet mass regions. The results are
compared with next-to-leading-order QCD predictions. Good agreement is observed
between the measured cross-sections and the predictions obtained using POWHEG +
Pythia. MC@NLO + Herwig shows good agreement with the measured bbbar-dijet
cross-section. However, it does not reproduce the measured inclusive
cross-section well, particularly for central b-jets with large transverse
