    Ziel des Beitrags ist es, Perspektiven einer stärkeren inhaltlichen und konzeptionellen Verzahnung der Forschungen zum alternativen Tourismus und zum Ferntourismus am Beispiel der Bundesrepublik Deutschland aufzuzeigen. Alternativ- und Ferntourismus weisen sowohl Sonderheiten als auch Schnittmengen auf: Im Bestreben, sich von einer zunehmend raumgreifenden Massenreisekultur abzugrenzen, rückten namentlich in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren ferne außereuropäische Ziele ins Visier von unkonventionellen Touristen. Als Entdecker, Forscher oder Pioniere bereisten sie auf individuellen Pfaden die Fremde, erweiterten dabei kontinuierlich den touristischen Radius und wurden schließlich selbst zu „touristischen“ Touristen. Der alternative Reiseanspruch dieser frühen Fernreisenden sowie die vermeintliche Standardisierung des alternativen Ferntourismus werden im vorliegenden Beitrag exemplarisch anhand von alternativen Fernreiseführern, die ursprünglich im Selbstverlag publiziert wurden, untersucht. Am Beispiel dieses bislang noch unerforschten Quellenkorpus können sowohl Wahrnehmungs- als auch Differenzierungsprozesse des alternativen Ferntourismus sowie das Verhältnis und die Wechselwirkungen von Alternativ- und Massentourismus analysiert werden

    Developmental Growth Control Exerted via the Protein A Kinase Tpk2 in Ashbya gossypii.

    Sporulation in Ashbya gossypii is induced by nutrient-limited conditions and leads to the formation of haploid spores. Using RNA-seq, we have determined a gene set induced upon sporulation, which bears considerable overlap with that of Saccharomyces cerevisiae but also contains A. gossypii-specific genes. Addition of cyclic AMP (cAMP) to nutrient-limited media blocks sporulation and represses the induction of sporulation specific genes. Deletion of the protein kinase A (PKA) catalytic subunits encoded by TPK1 and TPK2 showed reduced growth in tpk1 but enhanced growth in the tpk2 strain; however, both mutants sporulated well. Sporulation can be blocked by cAMP in tpk1 but not in tpk2 strains. Similarly, TPK2 acts at a second developmental switch promoting the break in spore dormancy. In S. cerevisiae, PKA phosphorylates and inhibits Msn2/4. The transcript profiles of the tpk1 and msn2/4 mutants were very similar to that of the wild type under sporulation conditions. However, deletion of the single A. gossypii MSN2/4 homolog generated a specific sporulation defect. We identified a set of genes involved in spore wall assembly that was downregulated in the msn2/4 mutant, particularly DIT2, suggesting that poor spore viability may be due to lysis of spores. Our results reveal specific functional differences between the two catalytic PKA subunits in A. gossypii and identified Tpk2 as the key A kinase that transduces developmental decisions of growth. Our data also suggest that Msn2/4 is involved only at a late step of sporulation in A. gossypii and is not a major regulator of IME1

    Expansion of a Telomeric FLO/ALS-Like Sequence Gene Family in Saccharomycopsis fermentans

    Non-Saccharomyces species have been recognized for their beneficial contribution to fermented food and beverages based on their volatile compound formation and their ability to ferment glucose into ethanol. At the end of fermentation brewer’s yeast flocculate which provides an easy means of separation of yeasts from green beer. Flocculation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae requires a set of flocculation genes. These FLO-genes, FLO1, FLO5, FLO9, FLO10, and FLO11, are located at telomeres and transcription of these adhesins is regulated by Flo8 and Mss11. Here, we show that Saccharomycopsis fermentans, an ascomycete yeast distantly related to S. cerevisiae, possesses a very large FLO/ALS-like Sequence (FAS) family encompassing 34 genes. Fas proteins are variable in size and divergent in sequence and show similarity to the Flo1/5/9 family. Fas proteins show the general build with a signal peptide, an N-terminal carbohydrate binding PA14 domain, a central region differing by the number of repeats and a C-terminus with a consensus sequence for GPI-anchor attachment. Like FLO genes in S. cerevisiae, FAS genes are mostly telomeric with several paralogs at each telomere. We term such genes that share evolutionary conserved telomere localization “telologs” and provide several other examples. Adhesin expression in S. cerevisiae and filamentation in Candida albicans is regulated by Flo8 and Mss11. In Saccharomycopsis we identified only a single protein with similarity to Flo8 based on sequence similarity and the presence of a LisH domain

    Acetaldehyde as an Intermediate in the Electroreduction of Carbon Monoxide to Ethanol on Oxide-Derived Copper

    Oxide‐derived copper (OD‐Cu) electrodes exhibit unprecedented CO reduction performance towards liquid fuels, producing ethanol and acetate with >50 % Faradaic efficiency at −0.3 V (vs. RHE). By using static headspace‐gas chromatography for liquid phase analysis, we identify acetaldehyde as a minor product and key intermediate in the electroreduction of CO to ethanol on OD‐Cu electrodes. Acetaldehyde is produced with a Faradaic efficiency of ≈5 % at −0.33 V (vs. RHE). We show that acetaldehyde forms at low steady‐state concentrations, and that free acetaldehyde is difficult to detect in alkaline solutions using NMR spectroscopy, requiring alternative methods for detection and quantification. Our results represent an important step towards understanding the CO reduction mechanism on OD‐Cu electrodes

    Differential cross section measurements for the production of a W boson in association with jets in proton–proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV

    Measurements are reported of differential cross sections for the production of a W boson, which decays into a muon and a neutrino, in association with jets, as a function of several variables, including the transverse momenta (pT) and pseudorapidities of the four leading jets, the scalar sum of jet transverse momenta (HT), and the difference in azimuthal angle between the directions of each jet and the muon. The data sample of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV was collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb[superscript −1]. The measured cross sections are compared to predictions from Monte Carlo generators, MadGraph + pythia and sherpa, and to next-to-leading-order calculations from BlackHat + sherpa. The differential cross sections are found to be in agreement with the predictions, apart from the pT distributions of the leading jets at high pT values, the distributions of the HT at high-HT and low jet multiplicity, and the distribution of the difference in azimuthal angle between the leading jet and the muon at low values.United States.     Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis
