Bubbles on Manifolds with a U(1) Isometry
We investigate the construction of five-dimensional, three-charge
supergravity solutions that only have a rotational U(1) isometry. We show that
such solutions can be obtained as warped compactifications with a singular
ambi-polar hyper-Kahler base space and singular warp factors. We show that the
complete solution is regular around the critical surface of the ambi-polar
base. We illustrate this by presenting the explicit form of the most general
supersymmetric solutions that can be obtained from an Atiyah-Hitchin base space
and its ambi-polar generalizations. We make a parallel analysis using an
ambi-polar generalization of the Eguchi-Hanson base space metric. We also show
how the bubbling procedure applied to the ambi-polar Eguchi-Hanson metric can

Exact operator bosonization of finite number of fermions in one space dimension
We derive an exact operator bosonization of a finite number of fermions in
one space dimension. The fermions can be interacting or noninteracting and can
have an arbitrary hamiltonian, as long as there is a countable basis of states
in the Hilbert space. In the bosonized theory the finiteness of the number of
fermions appears as an ultraviolet cut-off. We discuss implications of this for
the bosonized theory. We also discuss applications of our bosonization to
one-dimensional fermion systems dual to (sectors of) string theory such as LLM

Minisuperspace Quantization of "Bubbling AdS" and Free Fermion Droplets
We quantize the space of 1/2 BPS configurations of Type IIB SUGRA found by
Lin, Lunin and Maldacena (hep-th/0409174), directly in supergravity. We use the
Crnkovic-Witten-Zuckerman covariant quantization method to write down the
expression for the symplectic structure on this entire space of solutions. We
find the symplectic form explicitly around AdS_5 x S^5 and obtain a U(1)
Kac-Moody algebra, in precise agreement with the quantization of a system of N
free fermions in a harmonic oscillator potential, as expected from AdS/CFT. As
a cross check, we also perform the quantization around AdS_5 x S^5 by another
method, using the known spectrum of physical perturbations around this

School-based prevention for adolescent Internet addiction: prevention is the key. A systematic literature review
Adolescents’ media use represents a normative need for information, communication, recreation and functionality, yet problematic Internet use has increased. Given the arguably alarming prevalence rates worldwide and the increasingly problematic use of gaming and social media, the need for an integration of prevention efforts appears to be timely. The aim of this systematic literature review is (i) to identify school-based prevention programmes or protocols for Internet Addiction targeting adolescents within the school context and to examine the programmes’ effectiveness, and (ii) to highlight strengths, limitations, and best practices to inform the design of new initiatives, by capitalizing on these studies’ recommendations. The findings of the reviewed studies to date presented mixed outcomes and are in need of further empirical evidence. The current review identified the following needs to be addressed in future designs to: (i) define the clinical status of Internet Addiction more precisely, (ii) use more current psychometrically robust assessment tools for the measurement of effectiveness (based on the most recent empirical developments), (iii) reconsider the main outcome of Internet time reduction as it appears to be problematic, (iv) build methodologically sound evidence-based prevention programmes, (v) focus on skill enhancement and the use of protective and harm-reducing factors, and (vi) include IA as one of the risk behaviours in multi-risk behaviour interventions. These appear to be crucial factors in addressing future research designs and the formulation of new prevention initiatives. Validated findings could then inform promising strategies for IA and gaming prevention in public policy and education
Nano-Immunodetection and Quantification of Mycobacteria in Metalworking Fluids
The accurate detection and enumeration of mycobacteria in metalworking fluids (MWFs) is imperative from an environmental protection and occupational health perspective. We report here on a comparison of the labeling efficiency of nano-immunomagnetic particles (NIMP) and free antibody (FAb) to detect mycobacteria in semisynthetic MWF by using both traditional visualization analysis and cluster analysis aided visualization analysis (CAAVA). The NIMP labeling method involved coating nanometer-scale magnetic particles with Protein A, and oriented conjugation of polyclonal antibodies specific to Mycobacterium spp. The FAb labeling method is modified from the traditional immunofluorescence (IF) method for more efficient detection of mycobacteria in a model MWF. The labeling efficiency of NIMP and FAb were 7.2 ± 4.6 and 16.3 ± 5.5%, and the specificity 85.0 ± 6.1 and 88.1 ± 10.5%, respectively, based on traditional visualization analysis. Based on CAAVA analysis, the labeling efficiency of NIMP and FAb increased to 12.4 ± 1.6 and 20.5 ± 3.9%, and the specificity to 97.8 ± 3.2 and 98.5 ± 2.5%, respectively. A linear relationship of FCM counts and seeded concentrations was observed over four orders of magnitude (R 2 ≤ 0.99) in pure and ternary cultures. Methods for thermal inactivation of pathogens in mozzarella: a comparison between stretching and pasteurization
New insights into the genetic etiology of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias
Characterization of the genetic landscape of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADD) provides a unique opportunity for a better understanding of the associated pathophysiological processes. We performed a two-stage genome-wide association study totaling 111,326 clinically diagnosed/'proxy' AD cases and 677,663 controls. We found 75 risk loci, of which 42 were new at the time of analysis. Pathway enrichment analyses confirmed the involvement of amyloid/tau pathways and highlighted microglia implication. Gene prioritization in the new loci identified 31 genes that were suggestive of new genetically associated processes, including the tumor necrosis factor alpha pathway through the linear ubiquitin chain assembly complex. We also built a new genetic risk score associated with the risk of future AD/dementia or progression from mild cognitive impairment to AD/dementia. The improvement in prediction led to a 1.6- to 1.9-fold increase in AD risk from the lowest to the highest decile, in addition to effects of age and the APOE ε4 allele
Transverse-momentum and pseudorapidity distributions of charged hadrons in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
Charged-hadron transverse-momentum and pseudorapidity distributions in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV are measured with the inner tracking system of the CMS detector at the LHC. The charged-hadron yield is obtained by counting the number of reconstructed hits, hit pairs, and fully reconstructed charged-particle tracks. The combination of the three methods gives a charged-particle multiplicity per unit of pseudorapidity dN(ch)/d eta vertical bar(vertical bar eta vertical bar<0.5) = 5.78 +/- 0.01(stat) +/- 0.23(stat) for non-single-diffractive events, higher than predicted by commonly used models. The relative increase in charged-particle multiplicity from root s = 0.9 to 7 TeV is [66.1 +/- 1.0(stat) +/- 4.2(syst)]%. The mean transverse momentum is measured to be 0.545 +/- 0.005(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) GeV/c. The results are compared with similar measurements at lower energies
