    ANALYSIS OF THE CAUSES OF CIRCULATION LOSS IN THE LOWER CRETACEOUS DEPOSITS DURING THE HORIZONTAL DRILLING UNDERCROSSING THE DANUBE RIVER (GIURGIU-RUSE SECTION)

    The geotechnical, electrometric and magnetometric investigation data, correlated with the technological data from the horizontal directional drillings made for the undercrossing of the Danube River with gas pipelines, showed that in the Giurgiu-Ruse section, under a clastic sequence of 14-19 m thickness, consisting of layers of sandy clays, sands and white-grey, alluvial gravels, are developed Cretaceous grey altered limestones, yellowish-brown lumachelle limestones and grey-pink, compact limestones. The altered, eroded, and karstified limestones seems to be the explanation of drastic circulation loss of mud in the technological process of digging through horizontal directional drillings. In the studied section, on the Giurgiu-Ruse alignment in the southern area of the Moesian Platform (Wallachian sector), there are several relevant papers occasioned by the construction of the Saint Gheorghe harbour channel related to the Giurgiu harbour, at the time of the 19th century (1888-1890), as well as the papers related to the investigations occasioned by the construction of the Giurgiu-Ruse Bridge in 1959. Older or newer papers are added, relating to the carbonate deposits of different ages of the Cretaceous in the outcrops of the Bulgarian bank of the Danube, as well as descriptions from drillings adjacent to the studied section

    The study describes the synthesis of 11-homodrim-6,8-dien-12-oic acid N-substituted amides containing diazine, 1,2,4-triazole and carbazole rings based on commercially available sclareolide. The mentioned compounds were prepared for the first time by interaction of the generated in situ acyl chloride with some heterocyclic amines: 2- and 4-aminopyrimidine, 2-aminopyrazine, 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole and N-aminocarbazole. Their structures were fully elucidated by elemental and spectral analyses (IR, 1H and 13C NMR)

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a neglected worldwide, zoonotic, vectorborne, tropical disease. The clinical spectrum of leishmaniasis ranges from a self-resolving cutaneous ulcer to a mutilating mucocutaneous disease and even to a lethal systemic illness. People who recover from cutaneous leishmaniasis are protected against future infections. The risk of infection is for people of all ages if they live or travel where leishmaniasis is found. Leishmaniasis usually is more common in rural than in urban areas, but it is found in the outskirts of some cities. The transmission risk is highest from dusk to dawn because this is when sand flies generally are the most active. Cutaneous leishmaniasis causes skin lesions, which can persist for months, sometimes years. The skin lesions usually develop within several weeks or months after the exposure but occasionally first appear years later. Presented here is a clinical case of leishmaniasis of the cutaneous form, diagnosed by the microscopic method. The patient was diagnosed, monitored and treated in Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases “Toma Ciorbă” from 10.01.2018-09.02.2018. The progression of the disease was favorable following the etiotropic treatment with antimony meglumine (Glucantime), requiring careful monitoring due to adverse reactions. Conclusions: Clinical symptomatology was characteristic for cutaneous leishmaniasis: skin lesions of various pink-cherry sizes, some with ulcers on the body. The first etiotropic treatment with antimony meglumine was effective. Antimonate Meglumine treatment at a dose of 15 ml resulted in adverse reactions: asthenia, fever, myalgia and arthralgia

    Differential cross section measurements for the production of a W boson in association with jets in proton–proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV

    Measurements are reported of differential cross sections for the production of a W boson, which decays into a muon and a neutrino, in association with jets, as a function of several variables, including the transverse momenta (pT) and pseudorapidities of the four leading jets, the scalar sum of jet transverse momenta (HT), and the difference in azimuthal angle between the directions of each jet and the muon. The data sample of pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV was collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb[superscript −1]. The measured cross sections are compared to predictions from Monte Carlo generators, MadGraph + pythia and sherpa, and to next-to-leading-order calculations from BlackHat + sherpa. The differential cross sections are found to be in agreement with the predictions, apart from the pT distributions of the leading jets at high pT values, the distributions of the HT at high-HT and low jet multiplicity, and the distribution of the difference in azimuthal angle between the leading jet and the muon at low values.United States.
