ENHANCING LITERATURE REVIEW METHODS - TOWARDS MORE EFFICIENT LITERATURE RESEARCH WITH LATENT SEMANTIC INDEXING
Nowadays, the facilitated access to increasing amounts of information and scientific resources means that more and more effort is required to conduct comprehensive literature reviews. Literature search, as a fundamental, complex, and time-consuming step in every literature research process, is part of many established scientific methods. However, it is still predominantly supported by search techniqus based on conventional term-matching methods. We address the lack of semantic approaches in this context by proposing an enhancement of established literature review methods. For this purpose, we followed design science research (DSR) principles in order to develop artifacts and implement a prototype of our Tool for Semantic Indexing and Similarity Quries (TSISQ) based on the core concepts of latent semantic indexing (LSI). Its applicability is demonstrated and evaluated in a case study. Results indicate that the presented approach can help save valuable time in finding basic literature in a desired research field or increasing the comprehensiveness of a review by efficiently identifying sources that otherwise would not have been taken into account. The target audience for our findings includes researchers who need to efficiently gain an overview of a specific research field, deepen their knowledge or refine the theoretical foundations of their research
Decision Support for the Automotive Industry - Forecasting Residual Values Using Artificial Neural Networks
In the automotive industry, it is very common for new vehicles to be leased rather than sold. This implies forecasting an accurate residual value for the vehicles, which is a major factor for determining monthly leasing rates. Either a systematic overestimation or underestima- tion of future residual values can incur large potential losses in resale value or, respectively, competitive disad- vantages. For the purpose of facilitating residual value related management decisions, an operative decision sup- port system is introduced with emphasis on its forecasting capabilities. In the paper, the use of artificial neural net- works for this application is demonstrated in a case study based on more than 250,000 data sets of leasing contracts from a major German car manufacturer, completed between 2011 and 2017. The importance of determining price factors and the effect of different time horizons on forecasting accuracy are investigated and practical impli- cations are discussed. In addition, the authors neither found a significant explanatory nor predictive power of external economic factors, which underlines the importance of collecting and taking advantage of vehicle-specific data or, in more general terms, the exclusive data of corporations, which is often only available internally
Decision Support for the Automotive Industry: Forecasting Residual Values using Artificial Neural Networks
The leasing business is one of the most important distribution channels for the automotive industry. This implies that forecasting accurate residual values for the vehicles is a major factor for determining monthly leasing rates: Either a systematic overestimation or underestimation of future residual values can incur large potential losses in resale value or, respectively, competitive disadvantages. In this paper, an operative DSS with the purpose of facilitating residual value related management decisions is introduced, with a focus on its forecasting capabilities. Practical implications are discussed, a multi-variate linear model and an artificial neural network approach are benchmarked and further, the effects of price trends and seasonal influences are investigated. The analysis is based on more than 150,000 data sets from a major German car manufacturer. We show that artificial neural network ensembles with only a few input variables are capable of achieving a significant improvement in forecasting accuracy
Influencing factors for the digital transformation in the financial services sector
Digital transformation affects almost every area in societies and has consequences for incumbent companies. With qualitative research, we explore the influencing factors for digital transformation in the financial services sector. We use a PEST-model and Porter’s Five Forces as the underlying structure for our analysis. Our interviews and findings show that the financial services sector face the same current challenges, but their impact is perceived higher in the banking than in the insurance sector concerning social factors and bargaining power of buyers. The character of the current development is evolutionary rather than disruptive. Almost all incumbents currently focus on modernizing and consolidating their backend-systems. The aim is to enable them for new customer-oriented services. A primary driver for the digital transformation is the threat of a broader market entry by BigTechs. Our research provides a comprehensive overlook about the influencing factors of digital transformation using statements from experts in the field. © 2020, The Author(s)

Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in root s(NN)=2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions
We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semi-central root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV Pb-Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as nu(ch)(2) (jet). Jet finding is performed employing the anti-k(T) algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. The contribution of the azimuthal anisotropy of the underlying event is taken into account event-by-event. The remaining (statistical) region-to-region fluctuations are removed on an ensemble basis by unfolding the jet spectra for different event plane orientations independently. Significant non-zero nu(ch)(2) (jet) is observed in semi-central collisions (30-50% centrality) for 20 <p(T)(ch) (jet) <90 GeV/c. The azimuthal dependence of the charged jet production is similar to the dependence observed for jets comprising both charged and neutral fragments, and compatible with measurements of the nu(2) of single charged particles at high p(T). Good agreement between the data and predictions from JEWEL, an event generator simulating parton shower evolution in the presence of a dense QCD medium, is found in semi-central collisions.
