Fuzzy Intelligent Controller for the Maximum Power Point Tracking of a Photovoltaic Module at Varying Atmospheric Conditions
This paper presents the modeling of a photovoltaic (PV) module at varying atmospheric conditions such as irradiation and temperature. It also includes the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the PV module using conventional perturb and observe (P&O) method and fuzzy logic controller. For the performance analysis, the simulation of the PV module along with MPPT controller is done by using MATLAB/Simulink software. The voltage, current and power transitions at varying irradiation and temperature conditions is observed using conventional P&O and fuzzy logic based MPPT controllers. STUDIES ON CARCASS CHARACTERISTICS AND CUT UP YIELDS OF BACKYARD CHICKEN VARIETIES
The present investigation was carried out to study carcass characteristics and cut up yields in backyard varieties of chicken. Six different varieties namely CARI Shyama, Vanaraja, Kalinga Brown, Black Rock, Caribro Dhanraja and Kuroiler used in Chhattisgarh for backyard poultry were studied. The overall mean dressing percentage were recorded as 77.48 ± 1.19, 79.27 ± 1.13, 79.12 ± 0.58, 79.23 ± 0.5 and 79.90 ± 0.59 per cent for CARI Shyama, Vanaraja, Kalinga Brown, Black Rock, Caribro Dhanraja and Kuroiler, respectively. The overall mean values observed for giblet weight percentage were 4.92 ± 0.01, 4.97 ± 0.10, 5.65 ± 0.20, 5.08 ± 0.06, 4.96 ± 0.11 and 4.89 ± 0.16 % for aforesaid varieties respectively. Breast weight percentage was found to be significantly higher in females compared to males of same age group (P<0.05). However, other carcass traits were not affected by sex of the birds. The proportion of bled weight, dressed weight, leg weight, breast weight and blood loss were significantly (P<0.05) influenced by age of the poultry birds. The results indicated that certain carcass traits of improved varieties of backyard chickens are affected by variety, sex and age of the birds
Quantum walks: a comprehensive review
Quantum walks, the quantum mechanical counterpart of classical random walks,
is an advanced tool for building quantum algorithms that has been recently
shown to constitute a universal model of quantum computation. Quantum walks is
now a solid field of research of quantum computation full of exciting open
problems for physicists, computer scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
In this paper we review theoretical advances on the foundations of both
discrete- and continuous-time quantum walks, together with the role that
randomness plays in quantum walks, the connections between the mathematical
models of coined discrete quantum walks and continuous quantum walks, the
quantumness of quantum walks, a summary of papers published on discrete quantum
walks and entanglement as well as a succinct review of experimental proposals
and realizations of discrete-time quantum walks. Furthermore, we have reviewed
several algorithms based on both discrete- and continuous-time quantum walks as
well as a most important result: the computational universality of both

The upgrade of the ALICE TPC with GEMs and continuous readout
The upgrade of the ALICE TPC will allow the experiment to cope with the high interaction rates foreseen for the forthcoming Run 3 and Run 4 at the CERN LHC. In this article, we describe the design of new readout chambers and front-end electronics, which are driven by the goals of the experiment. Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) detectors arranged in stacks containing four GEMs each, and continuous readout electronics based on the SAMPA chip, an ALICE development, are replacing the previous elements. The construction of these new elements, together with their associated quality control procedures, is explained in detail. Finally, the readout chamber and front-end electronics cards replacement, together with the commissioning of the detector prior to installation in the experimental cavern, are presented. After a nine-year period of R&D, construction, and assembly, the upgrade of the TPC was completed in 2020.publishedVersio
Spatial, temporal, and demographic patterns in prevalence of chewing tobacco use in 204 countries and territories, 1990-2019 : a systematic analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019
Interpretation Chewing tobacco remains a substantial public health problem in several regions of the world, and predominantly in south Asia. We found little change in the prevalence of chewing tobacco use between 1990 and 2019, and that control efforts have had much larger effects on the prevalence of smoking tobacco use than on chewing tobacco use in some countries. Mitigating the health effects of chewing tobacco requires stronger regulations and policies that specifically target use of chewing tobacco, especially in countries with high prevalence. Findings In 2019, 273 center dot 9 million (95% uncertainty interval 258 center dot 5 to 290 center dot 9) people aged 15 years and older used chewing tobacco, and the global age-standardised prevalence of chewing tobacco use was 4 center dot 72% (4 center dot 46 to 5 center dot 01). 228 center dot 2 million (213 center dot 6 to 244 center dot 7; 83 center dot 29% [82 center dot 15 to 84 center dot 42]) chewing tobacco users lived in the south Asia region. Prevalence among young people aged 15-19 years was over 10% in seven locations in 2019. Although global agestandardised prevalence of smoking tobacco use decreased significantly between 1990 and 2019 (annualised rate of change: -1 center dot 21% [-1 center dot 26 to -1 center dot 16]), similar progress was not observed for chewing tobacco (0 center dot 46% [0 center dot 13 to 0 center dot 79]). Among the 12 highest prevalence countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Madagascar, Marshall Islands, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palau, Sri Lanka, and Yemen), only Yemen had a significant decrease in the prevalence of chewing tobacco use, which was among males between 1990 and 2019 (-0 center dot 94% [-1 center dot 72 to -0 center dot 14]), compared with nine of 12 countries that had significant decreases in the prevalence of smoking tobacco. Among females, none of these 12 countries had significant decreases in prevalence of chewing tobacco use, whereas seven of 12 countries had a significant decrease in the prevalence of tobacco smoking use for the period. Summary Background Chewing tobacco and other types of smokeless tobacco use have had less attention from the global health community than smoked tobacco use. However, the practice is popular in many parts of the world and has been linked to several adverse health outcomes. Understanding trends in prevalence with age, over time, and by location and sex is important for policy setting and in relation to monitoring and assessing commitment to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Methods We estimated prevalence of chewing tobacco use as part of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2019 using a modelling strategy that used information on multiple types of smokeless tobacco products. We generated a time series of prevalence of chewing tobacco use among individuals aged 15 years and older from 1990 to 2019 in 204 countries and territories, including age-sex specific estimates. We also compared these trends to those of smoked tobacco over the same time period. ϒ production in p–Pb collisions at √sNN=8.16 TeV
ϒ production in p–Pb interactions is studied at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon collision √sNN = 8.16 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The measurement is performed reconstructing bottomonium resonances via their dimuon decay channel, in the centre-of-mass rapidity intervals 2.03 < ycms < 3.53 and −4.46 < ycms < −2.96, down to zero transverse momentum. In this work, results on the ϒ(1S) production cross section as a function of rapidity and transverse momentum are presented. The corresponding nuclear modification factor shows a suppression of the ϒ(1S) yields with respect to pp collisions, both at forward and backward rapidity. This suppression is stronger in the low transverse momentum region and shows no significant dependence on the centrality of the interactions. Furthermore, the ϒ(2S) nuclear modification factor is evaluated, suggesting a suppression similar to that of the ϒ(1S). A first measurement of the ϒ(3S) has also been performed. Finally, results are compared with previous ALICE measurements in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV and with theoretical calculations.publishedVersio
Search for invisible Higgs boson decays in vector boson fusion at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
We report a search for Higgs bosons that are produced via vector boson fusion and subsequently
decay into invisible particles. The experimental signature is an energetic jet pair with invariant mass
of O(1) TeV and O(100) GeV missing transverse momentum. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of pp collision
data at √s=13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. In the signal region the 2252 observed
events are consistent with the background estimation. Assuming a 125 GeV scalar particle with Standard
Model cross sections, the upper limit on the branching fraction of the Higgs boson decay into invisible
particles is 0.37 at 95% confidence level where 0.28 was expected. This limit is interpreted in Higgs portal
models to set bounds on the wimp–nucleon scattering cross section. We also consider invisible decays of
additional scalar bosons with masses up to 3 TeV for which the upper limits on the cross section times
branching fraction are in the range of 0.3–1.7 pb
