The DVCS Measurement at HERA
The recent results of the studies of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS)
events at HERA are presented. The possibility offered by this process to gain

Evidence for the Jacobi shape transition in hot 46Ti
The gamma-rays from the decay of the GDR in 46Ti compound nucleus formed in
the 18O+28Si reaction at bombarding energy 105 MeV have been measured in an
experiment using a setup consisting of the combined EUROBALL IV, HECTOR and
EUCLIDES arrays. A comparison of the extracted GDR lineshape data with the
predictions of the thermal shape fluctuation model shows evidence for the
Jacobi shape transition in hot 46Ti. In addition to the previously found broad
structure in the GDR lineshape region at 18-27 MeV caused by large
deformations, the presence of a low energy component (around 10 MeV), due to
the Coriolis splitting in prolate well deformed shape, has been identified for

Pulsar Searches with the SKA
The Square Kilometre Array will be an amazing instrument for pulsar
astronomy. While the full SKA will be sensitive enough to detect all pulsars in
the Galaxy visible from Earth, already with SKA1, pulsar searches will discover
enough pulsars to increase the currently known population by a factor of four,
no doubt including a range of amazing unknown sources. Real time processing is
needed to deal with the 60 PB of pulsar search data collected per day, using a
signal processing pipeline required to perform more than 10 POps. Here we
present the suggested design of the pulsar search engine for the SKA and

A new method for the solution of the Schrodinger equation
We present a new method for the solution of the Schrodinger equation
applicable to problems of non-perturbative nature. The method works by
identifying three different scales in the problem, which then are treated
independently: An asymptotic scale, which depends uniquely on the form of the
potential at large distances; an intermediate scale, still characterized by an
exponential decay of the wave function and, finally, a short distance scale, in
which the wave function is sizable. The key feature of our method is the
introduction of an arbitrary parameter in the last two scales, which is then
used to optimize a perturbative expansion in a suitable parameter. We apply the
method to the quantum anharmonic oscillator and find excellent results.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, RevTex
Do the dominant plant species impact the substrate and vegetation composition of post-coal mining spoil heaps?

The accepted version of the publication may differ from the final published version�� 2019 Dominant species influence both species and functional composition of the vegetation as well as soil properties of the substrate. However, knowledge about the role played by dominant species in the process of shaping their habitat within post-industrial ecosystems is still limited. We aimed to assess the impact of four dominant species (Calamagrostis epigejos, Daucus carota, Poa compressa and Tussilago farfara) on soil abiotic and biotic properties, and to detect differences in species and functional composition of the vegetation types studied. We hypothesized that (1) dominant species of higher mean biomass cause lower aboveground biodiversity and (2) dominant species of higher mean biomass have a higher impact than the others on soil properties. We measured soil chemistry (TOC, N, P, K, Na, Mg content, EC, pH and enzyme activities) as well as biomass, species diversity and functional diversity of vegetation on 15 study plots (28.3 m2) for each species studied. The DCA analysis revealed a clear distinction between the patches dominated by studied species. Vegetation patches dominated by Calamagrostis epigejos were correlated with amount of biomass, canopy height CWM and specific leaf CWM. Patches dominated by Daucus carota were related to the light requirements (EIV-L), Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and K content. The vegetation patches dominated by Poa compressa were related to dehydrogenase activity, higher Mg content and species richness of the vegetation patches. The highest TOC content was recorded for T. farfara substrates, and the lowest for C. epigejos substrates. The content of potassium does not differ statistically significantly in the substrates from sites dominated by D. carota and P. compressa. The highest values of Mg content were recorded for D. carota and were statistically different from Poa compressa sites, while the higher phosphorus content (statistically significantly different) was recorded for patches dominated by T. farfara and P. compressa. Despite our assumptions, the species with the highest mean biomass (Calamagrostis epigejos) did not cause lower species or functional diversity. In contrast, Tussilago farfara has the highest impact on postindustrial site habitats on coal mine heaps, as extreme values of four soil substratum parameters were recorded on these plots. This species also decreased both species and functional diversity of vegetation. The knowledge about relationship existing between plants (aboveground vegetation) and soil organisms seems important in order to undertake suitable reclamation measures and to restore variety of functions as well as to create diverse vegetation based on native species.Published versio
The System of Long-Term Care in Poland
In the field of social protection, Poland belongs to the EU group of countries with the familybased welfare model, what is extremely visible for the long-term care where family is the main care provider for elderly individuals with limitations in activities of daily living. At the same time the proportion of elderly in the coming decades is projected to be among the highest in the European Union, what raises questions on the design of the long-term care. For the moment the system is highly unregulated and disintegrated between social assistance and health care services. But it is the health sector that concentrates policy debate with a proposal of an introduction of nursing insurance. In the social sector, the significant changes that were favorable to LTC services development were introduced by the law on the social assistance (2004) and family benefits (2003) widening the scope of care available at home and in adult day care centers. But still provision of services is insufficient and a market of private services, paid out-of-pocket rapidly develops. It seems that main problems of the long-term care development in the future will be raising demand against insufficient resources and diversified priorities of the health care system

Nitrogen balance and root behavior in four pigeonpea-based intercropping systems
A medium-duration pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L. Millsp.) is usually grown as intercrop. A wide range of crop combination in pigeonpea-based intercropping systems is found in India and eastern Africa (Ofroi and Stern, 1987; Rao and Willey, 1980; Venkateswarlu and Subramanian, 1990). Although much information is available on the production efficiency and monetary advantage of intercropping, very little is known about the nitrogen (N) economy and root behavior. Toward a theory‐based specification of non‐pharmacological treatments in aging and dementia: Focused reviews and methodological recommendations
Introduction: Non‐pharmacological treatments (NPTs) have the potential to improve meaningful outcomes for older people at risk of, or living with dementia, but research often lacks methodological rigor and continues to produce mixed results. Methods: In the current position paper, experts in NPT research have specified treatment targets, aims, and ingredients using an umbrella framework, the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System. Results: Experts provided a snapshot and an authoritative summary of the evidence for different NPTs based on the best synthesis efforts, identified main gaps in knowledge and relevant barriers, and provided directions for future research. Experts in trial methodology provide best practice principles and recommendations for those working in this area, underscoring the importance of prespecified protocols. Discussion: We conclude that the evidence strongly supports various NPTs in relation to their primary targets, and discuss opportunities and challenges associated with a unifying theoretical framework to guide future efforts in this area
Advances in Targeting Signal Transduction Pathways
Over the past few years, significant advances have occurred in both our understanding of the complexity of signal transduction pathways as well as the isolation of specific inhibitors which target key components in those pathways. Furthermore critical information is being accrued regarding how genetic mutations can affect the sensitivity of various types of patients to targeted therapy. Finally, genetic mechanisms responsible for the development of resistance after targeted therapy are being discovered which may allow the creation of alternative therapies to overcome resistance. This review will discuss some of the highlights over the past few years on the roles of key signaling pathways in various diseases, the targeting of signal transduction pathways and the genetic mechanisms governing sensitivity and resistance to targeted therapies
