PROCESSO DE CONSTRUÇÃO DO ACERVO CIENTÍFICO DO CENTRO DE MEMÓRIA DO GONDWANA: OS PRODUTOS DO PROJETO IGCP-628 ‒ REVISÃO DO MAPA GEOLÓGICO DO GONDWANA
O presente artigo descreve o processo de construção do Centro de Memória do Gondwana (CMG), iniciado em 2015, que busca a preservação da memória do Projeto IGCP-628 ‒ Revisão do Mapa Geológico do Gondwana, fruto da parceria realizada no final de 2010 entre a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) e o Centro de Pesquisas e Desenvolvimento (Cenpes) da Petrobras, aprovado pela UNESCO em 2013, através do Programa Internacional de Geociências (IGCP-628). Para tanto, são apresentados, primeiramente, a história do projeto; em seguida, as atividades realizadas no Laboratório de Geoprocessamento da UFRJ; e, por fim, o CMG, ressaltando sua missão, visão e valores; a composição do acervo e suas peculiaridades; e o impacto social do projeto e das atividades nele realizadas. Ainda na última seção são detalhados os projetos em desenvolvimento no CMG, destacando as atividades de acondicionamento, catalogação e divulgação do acervo, bem como a proposta de formação e desenvolvimento de coleções, o Projeto de Exposição no Museu da Geodiversidade e o Projeto Memória Oral. Entendendo que a disseminação do conhecimento é a principal ferramenta de conscientização da sociedade quanto ao seu patrimônio, tal como buscou-se, com essa semente de projeto museológico, a valorização e distribuição do pensamento científico e do conhecimento em torno das questões da formação da terra, através do estudo do Gondwana, este artigo pretende contribuir para o conhecimento dessa importante proposta junto ao público geral
Thermal Conversion of Sugarcane Bagasse Coupled with Vapor Phase Hydrotreatment over Nickel-Based Catalysts: A Comprehensive Characterization of Upgraded Products
In the present work, we compared the chemical profile of the organic compounds produced in non-catalytic pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse at 500 °C with those obtained by the in-line catalytic upgrading of the vapor phase at 350 °C. The influence over the chemical profile was evaluated by testing two Ni-based catalysts employing an inert atmosphere (N2) and a reactive atmosphere (H2) under atmospheric pressure with yields of the liquid phase varying from 55 to 62%. Major changes in the chemical profile were evidenced in the process under the H2 atmosphere, wherein a higher degree of deoxygenation was identified due to the effect of synergistic action between the catalyst and H2. The organic fraction of the liquid phase, called bio-oil, showed an increase in the relative content of alcohols and phenolic compounds in the GC/MS fingerprint after the upgrading process, corroborating with the action of the catalytic process upon the compounds derived from sugar and carboxylic acids. Thus, the thermal conversion of sugarcane bagasse, in a process under an H2 atmosphere and the presence of Ni-based catalysts, promoted higher deoxygenation performance of the pyrolytic vapors, acting mainly through sugar dehydration reactions. Therefore, the adoption of this process can potentialize the use of this waste biomass to produce a bio-oil with higher content of phenolic species, which have a wide range of applications in the energy and industrial sectors
Levantamento florístico de um fragmento de Floresta Ombrófila Densa no litoral norte do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil
Levantamentos florísticos podem fornecer subsídios à conservação de áreas naturais bem como à preservação do fluxo gênico da fauna e da flora. O presente estudo foi realizado no morro de Porto Fagundes, em Dom Pedro de Alcântara, litoral norte do Rio Grande do Sul, situado à margem oeste da Lagoa Itapeva (29°24’21.52” S e 49°50’53.35” O), perfazendo uma área de, aproximadamente, 2,3ha, e altitude máxima de cerca de 25m., tendo, como objetivo, levantar a riqueza de espécies vegetais vasculares da área. Coletas mensais com duração total de um ano foram realizadas, utilizando-se o “método do caminhamento”. Foram identificadas 373 espécies de plantas vasculares, distribuídas em 88 famílias, sendo que, destas espécies, 28 são consideradas ameaçadas de extinção. Os resultados mostram uma grande riqueza de espécies, com um acentuado número de táxons ameaçados e/ou raros para o estado, ressaltando a importância de conservação deste fragmento de vegetação

The question whether taxonomic descriptions naming new animal species without type specimen(s) deposited in collections should be accepted for publication by scientific journals and allowed by the Code has already been discussed in Zootaxa (Dubois & Nemésio 2007; Donegan 2008, 2009; Nemésio 2009a–b; Dubois 2009; Gentile & Snell 2009; Minelli 2009; Cianferoni & Bartolozzi 2016; Amorim et al. 2016). This question was again raised in a letter supported
by 35 signatories published in the journal Nature (Pape et al. 2016) on 15 September 2016. On 25 September 2016, the following rebuttal (strictly limited to 300 words as per the editorial rules of Nature) was submitted to Nature, which on
18 October 2016 refused to publish it. As we think this problem is a very important one for zoological taxonomy, this text is published here exactly as submitted to Nature, followed by the list of the 493 taxonomists and collection-based

Multidifferential study of identified charged hadron distributions in -tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV
Jet fragmentation functions are measured for the first time in proton-proton
collisions for charged pions, kaons, and protons within jets recoiling against
a boson. The charged-hadron distributions are studied longitudinally and
transversely to the jet direction for jets with transverse momentum 20 GeV and in the pseudorapidity range . The
data sample was collected with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy
of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.64 fb. Triple
differential distributions as a function of the hadron longitudinal momentum
fraction, hadron transverse momentum, and jet transverse momentum are also
measured for the first time. This helps constrain transverse-momentum-dependent
fragmentation functions. Differences in the shapes and magnitudes of the
measured distributions for the different hadron species provide insights into

Study of the decay
The decay is studied
in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of TeV
using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5
collected by the LHCb experiment. In the system, the
state observed at the BaBar and Belle experiments is
resolved into two narrower states, and ,
whose masses and widths are measured to be where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second
systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a
prompt sample. Evidence of a new
state is found with a local significance of , whose mass and width
are measured to be and , respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode
is found with a significance of
. The relative branching fraction of with respect to the
decay is measured to be , where the first
uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from

sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb of
integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The

statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these
measurements is . Results are consistent with the current average
of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the

ATLANTIC EPIPHYTES: a data set of vascular and non-vascular epiphyte plants and lichens from the Atlantic Forest
Epiphytes are hyper-diverse and one of the frequently undervalued life forms in plant surveys and biodiversity inventories. Epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, have high endemism and radiated recently in the Pliocene. We aimed to (1) compile an extensive Atlantic Forest data set on vascular, non-vascular plants (including hemiepiphytes), and lichen epiphyte species occurrence and abundance; (2) describe the epiphyte distribution in the Atlantic Forest, in order to indicate future sampling efforts. Our work presents the first epiphyte data set with information on abundance and occurrence of epiphyte phorophyte species. All data compiled here come from three main sources provided by the authors: published sources (comprising peer-reviewed articles, books, and theses), unpublished data, and herbarium data. We compiled a data set composed of 2,095 species, from 89,270 holo/hemiepiphyte records, in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, recorded from 1824 to early 2018. Most of the records were from qualitative data (occurrence only, 88%), well distributed throughout the Atlantic Forest. For quantitative records, the most common sampling method was individual trees (71%), followed by plot sampling (19%), and transect sampling (10%). Angiosperms (81%) were the most frequently registered group, and Bromeliaceae and Orchidaceae were the families with the greatest number of records (27,272 and 21,945, respectively). Ferns and Lycophytes presented fewer records than Angiosperms, and Polypodiaceae were the most recorded family, and more concentrated in the Southern and Southeastern regions. Data on non-vascular plants and lichens were scarce, with a few disjunct records concentrated in the Northeastern region of the Atlantic Forest. For all non-vascular plant records, Lejeuneaceae, a family of liverworts, was the most recorded family. We hope that our effort to organize scattered epiphyte data help advance the knowledge of epiphyte ecology, as well as our understanding of macroecological and biogeographical patterns in the Atlantic Forest.
