Anatomical variations of the hepatic artery: a closer view of rare unclassified variants
Background: Defining the hepatic artery anatomy is of great importance for both surgeons and radiologists. Michel classification was designed to classify hepatic artery variations. Nevertheless, there are variations that do not fit into this classification. In this study, we aim to define the incidence of all variations in a healthy liver donor by reviewing their CT scan with special emphasis on variations that do not fit in any of the Michel classes.
Materials and methods: A retrospective analysis of CT scan of donors and potential liver donors who were evaluated by triphasic CT scan. The CT scans were reviewed independently by a radiologist and two transplant surgeons. Cases that did not fit in any of the Michel classes were classified as class 0.
Results: Out of 241 donors, 210 were classified within the Michel classification, of which 60.9 % were class I and 9.1% class II. Thirty-one donors (12.9%) classified as class 0. Of which, nine, three, two and three had replaced right hepatic artery from pancreaticoduodenal artery, gastroduodenal artery, aorta and celiac artery, respectively. Two and 6 donors had accessory right hepatic artery from pancreaticoduodenal artery and gastroduodenal artery respectively. Segment 4 artery originated from left and right hepatic artery in 56.8% and 31.9%, respectively.
Conclusions: A great caution should be taken when evaluating the hepatic artery anatomy, clinicians should anticipate and be familiar with the rare unclassified variations of the hepatic artery
Experiences of Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) in Sweden: a Three-Year Follow-Up of Men and Women
Variations in concerns reported on the Patient Concerns Inventory (PCI) in head and neck cancer patients from different health settings across the world
Background: The aim was to collate and contrast patient concerns from a range of different head and neck cancer follow-up clinics around the world. Also, we sought to explore the relationship, if any, between responses to the patient concerns inventory (PCI) and overall quality of life (QOL). Methods: Nineteen units participated with intention of including 100 patients per site as close to a consecutive series as possible in order to minimize selection bias. Results: There were 2136 patients with a median total number of PCI items selected of 5 (2-10). “Fear of the cancer returning” (39%) and “dry mouth” (37%) were most common. Twenty-five percent (524) reported less than good QOL. Conclusion: There was considerable variation between units in the number of items selected and in overall QOL, even after allowing for case-mix variables. There was a strong progressive association between the number of PCI items and QOL
A catalogue of young runaway Hipparcos stars within 3kpc from the Sun
Traditionally runaway stars are O and B type stars with large peculiar
velocities.We want to extend this definition to young stars (up to ~50 Myr) of
any spectral type and identify those present in the Hipparcos catalogue
applying different selection criteria such as peculiar space velocities or
peculiar one-dimensional velocities. Runaway stars are important to study the
evolution of multiple star systems or star clusters as well as to identify
origins of neutron stars. We compile distances, proper motions, spectral types,
luminosity classes, V magnitudes and B-V colours and utilise evolutionary
models from different authors to obtain star ages and study a sample of 7663
young Hipparcos stars within 3 kpc from the Sun. Radial velocities are obtained
from the literature. We investigate the distributions of the peculiar spatial
velocity, the peculiar radial velocity as well as the peculiar tangential
velocity and its one-dimensional components and obtain runaway star
probabilities for each star in the sample. In addition, we look for stars that
are situated outside any OB association or OB cluster and the Galactic plane as
well as stars of which the velocity vector points away from the median velocity
vector of neighbouring stars or the surrounding local OB association/ cluster
although the absolute velocity might be small. We find a total of 2547 runaway
star candidates (with a contamination of normal Population I stars of 20 per
cent at most). Thus, after subtraction of those 20 per cent, the runaway
frequency among young stars is about 27 per cent. We compile a catalogue of

Proposing to use artificial neural Networks for NoSQL attack detection
[EN] Relationships databases have enjoyed a certain boom in software
worlds until now. These days, with the rise of modern applications, unstructured
data production, traditional databases do not completely meet the needs of all
systems. Regarding these issues, NOSQL databases have been developed and
are a good alternative. But security aspects stay behind. Injection attacks are the
most serious class of web attacks that are not taken seriously in NoSQL.
This paper presents a Neural Network model approach for NoSQL injection.
This method attempts to use the best and most effective features to identify an
injection. The features used are divided into two categories, the first one based
on the content of the request, and the second one independent of the request
meta parameters. In order to detect attack payloads features, we work on
character level analysis to obtain malicious rate of user inputs. The results
demonstrate that our model has detected more attack payloads compare with
models that work black list approach in keyword level

The distributed p-median problem in computer networks
Many distributed services in computer networks rely on a set of active facilities that are selected among
a potentially large number of candidates. The active facilities then contribute and cooperate to deliver a
specific service to the users of the distributed system. In this scenario graph partitioning or clustering is
often adopted to determine the most efficient locations of the facilities. The identification of the optimal
set of facility locations is known as the p-median problem in networks, is NP-hard and is typically solved
by using heuristic methods. The goal is to select p locations among all candidate network nodes such that
some cost function is minimised. A typical example of such a function is the overall communication cost
to deliver the service to the users of the distributed system. Locating facilities in near-optimal locations
has been extensively studied for different application domains. Most of these studies have investigated
sequential algorithms and centralised approaches. However, centralised approaches are practically infeasible
in large-scale and dynamic networks, where the problem is inherently distributed or because of the large
communication overhead and memory requirements for gathering complete information about the network
topology and the users. In this work distributed approaches to the p-median problem are investigated.
Two solutions are proposed for addressing the facility locations problem in a fully distributed environment.
Two different iterative heuristic approaches are applied to gradually improve a random initial solution
and to converge to a final solution with a local minimum of the overall cost. While the first approach
adopts a fine granularity by identifying a single change to improve the solution at each iteration, the second
approach applies changes to every component of the solution at each iteration. An experimental comparative
analysis based on simulations has shown that the approach with a finer granularity is able to deliver a better
optimisation of the overall cost with longer convergence time. Both approaches have excellent scalability
and provide an effective tool to optimise the facility locations from within the network. No prior knowledge
of the system is required, no data needs to be gathered in a centralised server and the same process is used
to identify and to deploy the facility locations solution in the network since the process is fully decentralised

Persistent Activist Communication in Occupy Gezi
We revisit the notion of activist persistence against the backdrop of protest communication on Twitter. We take an event-based approach and examine Occupy Gezi, a series of protests that occurred in Turkey in the early summer of 2013. By cross-referencing survey data with longitudinal Twitter data and in-depth interviews, we investigate the relationship between biographical availability, relational and organisational ties, social and personal costs to persistent activism online and on-location. Contrary to expectations, we find no clear-cut relationship between those factors and sustained commitment to participation in the occupation. We show that persistent activist communication did not feed into enduring organisational structures despite the continuous online activity observed during and beyond the peak of the Gezi occupation. The article concludes with reflections on the organisational ramifications of persistent communication and its significance in a political context posing high risks to participation in dissident politics
Increased Risk of Vascular Events in Emergency Room Patients Discharged Home with Diagnosis of Dizziness or Vertigo: A 3-Year Follow-Up Study
BACKGROUND: Dizziness and vertigo symptoms are commonly seen in emergency room (ER). However, these patients are often discharged without a definite diagnosis. Conflicting data regarding the vascular event risk among the dizziness or vertigo patients have been reported. This study aims to determine the risk of developing stroke or cardiovascular events in ER patients discharged home with a diagnosis of dizziness or vertigo. METHODOLOGY: A total of 25,757 subjects with at least one ER visit in 2004 were identified. Of those, 1,118 patients were discharged home with a diagnosis of vertigo or dizziness. A Cox proportional hazard model was performed to compare the three-year vascular event-free survival rates between the dizziness/vertigo patients and those without dizziness/vertigo after adjusting for confounding and risk factors. RESULTS: We identified 52 (4.7%) vascular events in patients with dizziness/vertigo and 454 (1.8%) vascular events in patients without dizziness/vertigo. ER patients discharged home with a diagnosis of vertigo or dizziness had 2-fold (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.35-2.96; p<0.001) higher risk of stroke or cardiovascular events after adjusting for patient characteristics, co-morbidities, urbanization level of residence, individual socio-economic status, and initially taking medications after the onset of dizziness or vertigo during the first year. CONCLUSIONS: ER patients discharged home with a diagnosis of dizziness or vertigo were at a increased risk of developing subsequent vascular events than those without dizziness/vertigo after the onset of dizziness or vertigo. Further studies are warranted for developing better diagnostic and follow-up strategies in increased risk patients
Effect of processing on the drying kinetics and functional value of dried apricot
Apricots can be considered as a good source of phenolic compounds, which are beneficial for human health. Microwaves may be an alternative to the conventional sun or hot air drying techniques used to obtain dried apricot. Nevertheless, their impact on the functional compounds must be taken into account if they are to be recommended as an attractive drying option. This work compares the drying kinetics and the change in the organic acids, phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of dried apricot when using hot air drying and microwave energy. Empirical (linear and Page) equations can be used to model the drying kinetics in air, combined air-microwave and microwave processes. From the obtained results, it can be concluded that the industrial processing of dried apricots may be improved by using microwave energy, as the drying time is considerably reduced, and the obtained fruit had a higher phenolic content, particularly of chlorogenic acid, catequin and epicatequin. Nevertheless, as the contribution of these phenols to antioxidant capacity was not significant, microwave dried samples maintained the same antioxidant capacity as the air-dried ones. When sulphite is added previous to the drying processes, care should be taken with the total phenols and the antioxidant capacity quantified as it may interfere with the results depending on the methodology used. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.Igual Ramo, M.; GarcĂa MartĂnez, EM.; MartĂn-Esparza, M.; MartĂnez Navarrete, N.
