Abstract. The aging of the population poses an emergent problem for our country by its multiple repercussions. Between the aspects more worrying are found the sanitary situation and the gender inequity. Considering it previous, the present article has as initial purpose points out any information concerning ciphers that show the demographic aging in our country. Subsequently, the sanitary situation is raised and the conditions of health of old age; as well as some differences according to the gender. This information is used as framework of reference for the reflection concerning factors that have influenced negatively for that the conditions are not optima in this stage of the life. Finally, some strategies are proposed oriented to improve the quality of life of old age.

    CP Violating Bubble Wall Profiles

We solve the equations of motion for a CP violating phase between the two Higgs doublets at the bubble wall of the MSSM electroweak phase transition. Contrary to earlier suggestions, we do not find indications of spontaneous ``transitional'' CP violation in the MSSM. On the other hand, in case there is explicit CP violation in the stop and chargino/neutralino sectors, the relative phase between the Higgses does become space dependent, but only mildly even in the maximal case. We also demonstrate that spontaneous CP violation within the bubble wall could occur, e.g., if the Higgs sector of the MSSM were supplemented by a singlet. Finally we point out some implications for baryogenesis computations

    Bioadhesión sobre Alúmina. Propiedades superficiales

    Get PDF

The 2-loop MSSM finite temperature effective potential with stop condensation

We calculate the finite temperature 2-loop effective potential in the MSSM with stop condensation, using a 3-dimensional effective theory. We find that in a part of the parameter space, a two-stage electroweak phase transition appears possible. The first stage would be the formation of a stop condensate, and the second stage is the transition to the standard electroweak minimum. The two-stage transition could significantly relax the baryon erasure bounds, but the parameter space allowing it (m_H \lsim 100 GeV, m_tR \sim 155-160 GeV) is not very large. We estimate the reliability of our results using renormalization scale and gauge dependence. Finally we discuss some real-time aspects relevant for the viability of the two-stage scenario.Comment: 30 pages, 7 figure

Asymptotics and zeros of Sobolev orthogonal polynomials on unbounded supports

    Get PDF
In this paper we present a survey about analytic properties of polynomials orthogonal with respect to a weighted Sobolev inner product such that the vector of measures has an unbounded support. In particular, we are focused in the study of the asymptotic behaviour of such polynomials as well as in the distribution of their zeros. Some open problems as well as some new directions for a future research are formulated.Comment: Changed content; 34 pages, 41 reference

Global QCD Analysis and the CTEQ Parton Distributions

    Get PDF
The CTEQ program for the determination of parton distributions through a global QCD analysis of data for various hard scattering processes is fully described. A new set of distributions, CTEQ3, incorporating several new types of data is reported and compared to the two previous sets of CTEQ distributions. Comparison with current data is discussed in some detail. The remaining uncertainties in the parton distributions and methods to further reduce them are assessed. Comparisons with the results of other global analyses are also presented.Comment: (Change in Latex style only: 2up style removed since many don't have it.) 35 pages, 23 figures separately submitted as uuencoded compressed ps-file; Michigan State Report # MSU-HEP/41024 and CTEQ 40

Electroweak Baryogenesis: Concrete in a SUSY Model with a Gauge Singlet

    Get PDF
SUSY models with a gauge singlet easily allow for a strong first order electroweak phase transition (EWPT) if the vevs of the singlet and Higgs fields are of comparable size. We discuss the profile of the stationary expanding bubble wall and CP-violation in the effective potential, in particular transitional CP-violation inside the bubble wall during the EWPT. The dispersion relations for charginos contain CP-violating terms in the WKB approximation. These enter as source terms in the Boltzmann equations for the (particle--antiparticle) chemical potentials and fuel the creation of a baryon asymmetry through the weak sphaleron in the hot phase. This is worked out for concrete parameters.Comment: 46 pages, LaTeX, 11 figures, discussion of source terms and transport equations modified, version to appear in Nucl. Phys.

3D MHD Flux Emergence Experiments: Idealized models and coronal interactions

This paper reviews some of the many 3D numerical experiments of the emergence of magnetic fields from the solar interior and the subsequent interaction with the pre-existing coronal magnetic field. The models described here are idealized, in the sense that the internal energy equation only involves the adiabatic, Ohmic and viscous shock heating terms. However, provided the main aim is to investigate the dynamical evolution, this is adequate. Many interesting observational phenomena are explained by these models in a self-consistent manner.Comment: Review article, accepted for publication in Solar Physic
