Accessible quantification of multiparticle entanglement
Entanglement is a key ingredient for quantum technologies and a fundamental signature of quantumness in a broad range of phenomena encompassing many-body physics, thermodynamics, cosmology and life sciences. For arbitrary multiparticle systems, entanglement quantification typically involves nontrivial optimisation problems, and it may require demanding tomographical techniques. Here, we develop an experimentally feasible approach to the evaluation of geometric measures of multiparticle entanglement. Our framework provides analytical results for particular classes of mixed states of N qubits, and computable lower bounds to global, partial, or genuine multiparticle entanglement of any general state. For global and partial entanglement, useful bounds are obtained with minimum effort, requiring local measurements in just three settings for any N. For genuine entanglement, a number of measurements scaling linearly with N are required. We demonstrate the power of our approach to estimate and quantify different types of multiparticle entanglement in a variety of N-qubit states useful for uantum information processing and recently engineered in laboratories with quantum optics and trapped ion setups
Two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in central Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV
The first measurement of two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations in central Pb-Pb
collisions at TeV at the Large Hadron Collider is
presented. We observe a growing trend with energy now not only for the
longitudinal and the outward but also for the sideward pion source radius. The
pion homogeneity volume and the decoupling time are significantly larger than
those measured at RHIC.Comment: 17 pages, 5 captioned figures, 1 table, authors from page 12,

Particle-yield modification in jet-like azimuthal di-hadron correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV
The yield of charged particles associated with high- trigger
particles ( GeV/) is measured with the ALICE detector in
Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV relative to proton-proton
collisions at the same energy. The conditional per-trigger yields are extracted
from the narrow jet-like correlation peaks in azimuthal di-hadron correlations.
In the 5% most central collisions, we observe that the yield of associated
charged particles with transverse momenta GeV/ on the
away-side drops to about 60% of that observed in pp collisions, while on the
near-side a moderate enhancement of 20-30% is found.Comment: 15 pages, 2 captioned figures, 1 table, authors from page 10,

Strange particle production in proton-proton collisions at TeV with ALICE at the LHC
The production of mesons containing strange quarks (K, ) and both
singly and doubly strange baryons (, Anti-, and
+Anti-) are measured at central rapidity in pp collisions at
= 0.9 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The results are
obtained from the analysis of about 250 k minimum bias events recorded in 2009.
Measurements of yields (dN/dy) and transverse momentum spectra at central
rapidities for inelastic pp collisions are presented. For mesons, we report
yields () of 0.184 0.002 stat. 0.006 syst. for K and
0.021 0.004 stat. 0.003 syst. for . For baryons, we find
= 0.048 0.001 stat. 0.004 syst. for , 0.047
0.002 stat. 0.005 syst. for Anti- and 0.0101 0.0020 stat.
0.0009 syst. for +Anti-. The results are also compared with
predictions for identified particle spectra from QCD-inspired models and
provide a baseline for comparisons with both future pp measurements at higher
energies and heavy-ion collisions.Comment: 33 pages, 21 captioned figures, 10 tables, authors from page 28,

Measurement of the non-prompt D-meson fraction as a function of multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at = 13 TeV
The fractions of non-prompt (i.e. originating from beauty-hadron decays) D0
and D+ mesons with respect to the inclusive yield are measured as a function of the
charged-particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of âs =
13 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The results are reported in intervals of
transverse momentum (pT) and integrated in the range 1 < pT < 24 GeV/c. The fraction
of non-prompt D0 and D+ mesons is found to increase slightly as a function of pT in
all the measured multiplicity intervals, while no significant dependence on the charged-
particle multiplicity is observed. In order to investigate the production and hadronisation
mechanisms of charm and beauty quarks, the results are compared to PYTHIA 8 as well
as EPOS 3 and EPOS 4 Monte Carlo simulations, and to calculations based on the colour
glass condensate including three-pomeron fusion
Hypertriton Production in p-Pb Collisions at âsNN = 5.02 TeV
The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful
tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in
high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of
in p-Pb collisions at = 5.02
TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity
interval -1 < y < 0 for the 40% highest multiplicity p-Pb collisions is . The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical
hadronisation and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in
hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the
hypertriton in small collision systems such as p-Pb and therefore the
measurement of is crucial to distinguish between them.
The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance
larger than 6 of some configurations of the statistical hadronisation,
thus constraining the production mechanism of loosely bound states
General balance functions of identified charged hadron pairs of (pi,K,p) in Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV
First measurements of balance functions (BFs) of all combinations of identified charged hadron ( Ï , K, p)
pairs in PbâPb collisions at âsNN = 2.76 TeV recorded by the ALICE detector are presented. The BF
measurements are carried out as two-dimensional differential correlators versus the relative rapidity
(delta-y) and azimuthal angle (delta-Ï) of hadron pairs, and studied as a function of collision centrality. The delta-Ï
dependence of BFs is expected to be sensitive to the light quark diffusivity in the quarkâgluon plasma.
While the BF azimuthal widths of all pairs substantially decrease from peripheral to central collisions, the
longitudinal widths exhibit mixed behaviors: BFs of Ï Ï and cross-species pairs narrow significantly in
more central collisions, whereas those of KK and pp are found to be independent of collision centrality.
This dichotomy is qualitatively consistent with the presence of strong radial flow effects and the existence
of two stages of quark production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Finally, the first measurements of
the collision centrality evolution of BF integrals are presented, with the observation that charge balancing
fractions are nearly independent of collision centrality in PbâPb collisions. Overall, the results presented
provide new and challenging constraints for theoretical models of hadron production and transport in
relativistic heavy-ion collisions
