    Major cellular and molecular processes and clinical outcomes in bone regeneration for successful dental implantation: a systematic review

    Introduction: In the context of bone regeneration, bone defects still represent a major challenge in oral and maxillofacial clinical and surgical treatment. The biomimetic design of biomaterials by simulating the natural structure and composition of bone tissue has gradually become a point of research interest due to its advantages of simplicity and efficiency. Objective: It was to carry out a systematic review on cellular and molecular processes, as well as to present the main clinical approaches of bone regeneration for dental implants. Methods: The present study followed a systematic review model, following the rules of systematic review – PRISMA. The search strategy was performed in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument and the risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results: A total of 142 articles were found. A total of 84 articles were fully evaluated and 33 were included in this study. Literary findings have shown that the lack of bone in the alveolar ridges has been a major problem in functional aesthetic recovery in patients who have suffered dentoalveolar trauma. The osteoinduction process is influenced by several factors, requiring the presence of inducers, which include β-glycerolphosphate, ascorbic acid, and dexamethasone. Mesenchymal stem cells acquire the morphology and components of osteoblastic membranes and begin to express alkaline phosphatase to deposit extracellular matrix rich in calcium and certain proteins, such as osteopontin and osteocalcin. The Bio Oss® (Geistlich) biomaterial, because it is biodegradable, biocompatible, non-toxic, and has low immunogenicity and bio stimulators, can act in the regeneration of bone tissue. Application of FRP and implant placement provides stable clinical results for severely atrophic maxilla 2-4 mm. Bovine xenograft alone and in combination with liquid FRP are both successful in achieving bone augmentation around implants and produce a small change in marginal bone level and a high implant survival rate after loading. Conclusion: Through the results of the present study, it was evidenced that the success of the dental implant is directly related to successful osseointegration

    Descrever a percepção do indivíduo estomizado quanto à vivência com a estomia intestinal. Pesquisa qualitativa, realizado em um ambulatório de estomias intestinais, a coleta de dados ocorreu de janeiro a fevereiro de 2022. Foram convidados pacientes com estomas intestinais de eliminação provisória ou definitiva. Foi elaborado um roteiro semiestruturado com perguntas amplas que possibilitaram explorar a percepção do indivíduo estomizado quanto à vivência com a estomiaintestinalParticiparam 14 (100%) indivíduos com estomia intestinal. A análise dos dados possibilitou a identificação de três núcleos temáticos: Impactos da Estomização no Estilo de Vida; Aceitação da Doença e Cuidados com a Ostomização. Conclui-se que esse estudo permitiu conhecer a percepção das pessoas estomizadas e necessidade de uma formação que transcenda o aspecto biológico e valorize as habilidades socioafetivas e as relações terapêuticas entre profissionais da saúde e a pessoa em adoecimento.&nbsp

    Oral Sensorimotor System in Patients with Facial Lipoatrophy Living with AIDS

    Introduction: Lipodystrophy Syndrome in people living with AIDS is characterized by body fat redistribution and metabolic abnormalities and is associated with the use of antiretroviral therapy (ART). It is socially and psychologically impacting once it reduces the quality of life of those who develop it. The prevalence varies from 6% to 69%.Objective: Characterize the Oral Sensorimotor System in patients with Facial Lipoatrophy living with AIDS.Methods: Cross-sectional convenience sample study. Sixty-four patients living with AIDS treated in the Lipodystrophy Clinic were clinically evaluated by the infectious disease physician and by the speech language pathologist. The Oral Sensorimotor System structures were evaluated through the Orofacial Assessment Protoco.Results: Changes in tone and mobility are associated with loss of subcutaneous fat.Conclusions: Changes presented in the morphology and function of the Oral Sensoriomotor System are associated with facial Lipoatrophy in patients living with AIDS

    A importância da sustentabilidade ambiental na produção de refeições: uma revisão integrativa

    A quantidade de restaurantes tem aumentado significativamente devido ao padrão alimentar da sociedade que tem sido caracterizado pela diminuição da frequência da realização das refeições em casa. Devido a isso, cada vez mais a sustentabilidade ambiental tem se tornado importante na produção de refeições em serviços de alimentação, pois, através das atividades consideradas ecologicamente sustentáveis reduz-se o impacto ao meio ambiente. Dessa forma, o objetivo do estudo foi identificar evidências disponíveis na literatura sobre a importância da sustentabilidade ambiental na produção de refeições. Para a pesquisa, foi realizada uma revisão integrativa de literatura e foram definidos os descritores (sustentabilidade, nutrição, serviços de alimentação, unidade de alimentação e nutrição e refeições) para a localização dos estudos. Os critérios de inclusão foram: artigos científicos completos em português, publicados entre os anos de 2016 e 2020. Foram avaliados 7 artigos na íntegra e nenhum versou sobre a questão do estudo, o que demonstra a necessidade do desenvolvimento de um maior quantitativo de pesquisas científicas nacionais sobre a relevância da sustentabilidade ambiental na produção de refeições

    Genome of the Avirulent Human-Infective Trypanosome—Trypanosoma rangeli

    Background: Trypanosoma rangeli is a hemoflagellate protozoan parasite infecting humans and other wild and domestic mammals across Central and South America. It does not cause human disease, but it can be mistaken for the etiologic agent of Chagas disease, Trypanosoma cruzi. We have sequenced the T. rangeli genome to provide new tools for elucidating the distinct and intriguing biology of this species and the key pathways related to interaction with its arthropod and mammalian hosts.  Methodology/Principal Findings: The T. rangeli haploid genome is ,24 Mb in length, and is the smallest and least repetitive trypanosomatid genome sequenced thus far. This parasite genome has shorter subtelomeric sequences compared to those of T. cruzi and T. brucei; displays intraspecific karyotype variability and lacks minichromosomes. Of the predicted 7,613 protein coding sequences, functional annotations could be determined for 2,415, while 5,043 are hypothetical proteins, some with evidence of protein expression. 7,101 genes (93%) are shared with other trypanosomatids that infect humans. An ortholog of the dcl2 gene involved in the T. brucei RNAi pathway was found in T. rangeli, but the RNAi machinery is non-functional since the other genes in this pathway are pseudogenized. T. rangeli is highly susceptible to oxidative stress, a phenotype that may be explained by a smaller number of anti-oxidant defense enzymes and heatshock proteins.  Conclusions/Significance: Phylogenetic comparison of nuclear and mitochondrial genes indicates that T. rangeli and T. cruzi are equidistant from T. brucei. In addition to revealing new aspects of trypanosome co-evolution within the vertebrate and invertebrate hosts, comparative genomic analysis with pathogenic trypanosomatids provides valuable new information that can be further explored with the aim of developing better diagnostic tools and/or therapeutic targets

    The Genome of Anopheles darlingi, the main neotropical malaria vector

    Anopheles darlingi is the principal neotropical malaria vector, responsible for more than a million cases of malaria per year on the American continent. Anopheles darlingi diverged from the African and Asian malaria vectors ∼100 million years ago (mya) and successfully adapted to the New World environment. Here we present an annotated reference A. darlingi genome, sequenced from a wild population of males and females collected in the Brazilian Amazon. A total of 10 481 predicted protein-coding genes were annotated, 72% of which have their closest counterpart in Anopheles gambiae and 21% have highest similarity with other mosquito species. In spite of a long period of divergent evolution, conserved gene synteny was observed between A. darlingi and A. gambiae. More than 10 million single nucleotide polymorphisms and short indels with potential use as genetic markers were identified. Transposable elements correspond to 2.3% of the A. darlingi genome. Genes associated with hematophagy, immunity and insecticide resistance, directly involved in vectorhuman and vectorparasite interactions, were identified and discussed. This study represents the first effort to sequence the genome of a neotropical malaria vector, and opens a new window through which we can contemplate the evolutionary history of anopheline mosquitoes. It also provides valuable information that may lead to novel strategies to reduce malaria transmission on the South American continent.
