    Avaliação de formação de um sistema turbidítico do Campo de Albacora: uma abordagem estatística utilizando R

    Well logging is basically a set of geophysical measurements taken in open or cased boreholes that provides essential information about the properties of geological formation in subsurface required by exploration and exploitation of important mineral and energetic resources. As a proper geophysical method itself, well logging was developed in the petroleum industry and is the very base for formation evaluation, the most relevant way to characterize the rocks and their exploitation viability, as it embodies the best causal relations between the geophysical measurements and the geological and petrophysical properties of the formation rocks. In the ordinary workflow of the industry, common practice is using commercial suites to perform this task. In this work, we propose an alternative approach, using free platforms (R and RStudio), in which the training evaluation workflow is fully transparent, reproducible, and easily documented by the log analyst. This article presents a consistent and robust analytical flow for an example well of an important Brazilian siliciclastic reservoir, using exclusively free domain tools and language adaptable to other geological scenarios and different teamwork, elegant and fully documentable. As a main result, it is demonstrated that, based on descriptive statistics, this flow is a solid auxiliary tool for formation evaluation, in which parameterization experiments applying common tools such as histograms and 1D and 2D probability density, and diagrams of dispersion (crossplots) compete for the recognition of consistent patterns, which result in a realistic model of electrofacies for the reservoir, with a variety of classes suitable for the scale of inference and geology. Basicamente, a perfilagem de poços é um conjunto de medidas geofísicas executado em poços abertos ou revestidos, que fornece informações essenciais sobre as propriedades das formações geológicas em subsuperfície necessárias para a exploração e produção de importantes recursos minerais e energéticos. Como método geofísico propriamente dito, esse conjunto de técnicas desenvolveu-se na indústria do petróleo e constitui-se na base principal da avaliação de formação, que é a ferramenta básica para a caracterização de rochas e sua viabilidade explotatória, pois fornece as melhores relações causais entre as medidas geofísicas e as propriedades geológicas e petrofísicas das rochas. No fluxo ordinário da indústria, a prática é a aplicação de suítes comerciais para realizar a tarefa. Neste trabalho, propomos uma alternativa usando uma plataforma livre (R e RStudio), em que o fluxo de avaliação é transparente, reproduzível e facilmente documentado pelo analista de perfis. Este artigo apresenta um fluxo analítico robusto e consistente para um poço-exemplo de um importante reservatório siliciclástico brasileiro, usando exclusivamente ferramentas e linguagem de domínio livre adaptável a outros cenários geológicos e distintos trabalhos de equipe, elegante e totalmente documentável. Como principal resultado, demonstra-se que, tendo por base a estatística descritiva, esse fluxo é uma ferramenta auxiliar sólida para a avaliação de formação, em que os experimentos de parametrização que aplicam ferramentas comuns como histogramas e densidade de probabilidade 1D e 2D e diagramas de dispersão (crossplots) concorrem para o reconhecimento de padrões consistentes, que resultam num modelo realístico de eletrofácies para o reservatório, com uma variedade de classes adequada à escala de inferência e à geologia

    Testing the persistence of Carcharodontosauridae (Theropoda) in the Upper Cretaceous of Patagonia based on dental evidence

    The deposits corresponding to the Upper Cretaceous Neuquén and San Jorge Gulf basins from northern and central Patagonia have provided two of the most complete sequences of terrestrial vertebrate faunas of all Gondwanan landmasses. Among the carnivorous components, the carcharodontosaurid theropods appeared as common elements during the Early Cretaceous and the earliest Late Cretaceous in northern and central Patagonia. Although recorded mostly in the lower Turonian, isolated teeth suggest their presence in younger strata in northern and central Patagonia, reaching the clade in the region as late as the early Maastrichtian. Here, we verify the assignment of such isolated teeth previously identified as belonging to Carcharodontosauridae from the Upper Cretaceous strata of northern and central Patagonia. Using three different methods, namely a cladistic analysis performed on a dentition-based data matrix, and discriminant and cluster analyses conducted on a large dataset of theropod crown measurements, we assign a tooth from Candeleros Formation to carcharodontosaurid theropods and teeth from Cerro Lisandro, Bajo Barreal, Portezuelo, Plottier and Allen formations to abelisaurid theropods. These new reappraisals provide additional evidence about the extinction of Carcharodontosauridae in South America at about the late Turonian–earliest Coniacian as part of a general faunistic turnover event, with the last clear evidence of this lineage in Patagonia coming from the early–middle Turonian.Fil: Meso, Jorge Gustavo.     Production of He-4 and (4) in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=2.76 TeV at the LHC

    Results on the production of He-4 and (4) nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar <1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0-10% central events are found to be dN/dy4(He) = (0.8 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) x 10(-6) and dN/dy4 = (1.1 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-6), respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (T-chem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of (4)/He-4 is 1.4 +/- 0.8 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst). (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.Peer reviewe

    Theropods from the La Bonita site, Bajo de la Carpa Formation (Neuquén Group, Santonian), Río Negro, Argentina: analysis of dental evidence

    The abundant record of theropods from Bajo de La Carpa Formation (Neuquén Group, Santonian), known from the end of the nineteenth century, come from numerous locations within the Neuquén Basin. During the excavation of the titanosaur Bonitasaura salgadoi at the La Bonita fossiliferous site, northwest of Río Negro province Argentina, were recovered three isolated teeth assignable to non-avian theropod dinosaurs. Previous studies of these dental materials suggested that MPCA-Pv-247 corresponds to an indeterminate tetanure possibly related to Orkoraptor, a taxon of uncertain phylogenetic position at that moment, and MPCA-Pv-249 and 251 as possible abelisauroids. Three methods were carried out, namely, a cladistic analysis performed on a dentition-based data matrix, and a discriminant and cluster analyses performed in a large dataset including measurements of non-avian theropod teeth. The results assign for the first time a confidently phylogenetic position to the described dental material. The analysis shows that MPCA-Pv 247 belongs to Megaraptoridae, whereas MPCA-Pv 249 and 251 were recovered as belonging to Abelisauridae, supporting in a reliable way the previous assignments. The results show the presence of Megaraptoridae at La Bonita and, additionally, they represent an evidence of the first direct association of megaraptorids and abelisaurids at the same locality of the Bajo de La Carpa Formation, according to similar associations from other units of the Neuquén Group.Fil: Meso, Jorge Gustavo.     π0\pi ^{0} and η\eta meson production in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV

    An invariant differential cross section measurement of inclusive π0\pi ^{0} and η\eta meson production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8  TeV was carried out by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The spectra of π0\pi ^{0} and η\eta mesons were measured in transverse momentum ranges of 0.33.50.33.5    GeV/c \text{ GeV/c } . However, a deviation from this empirical scaling rule is observed for transverse momenta below p T <3.5p_{ \text{ T }} <3.5    GeV/c \text{ GeV/c } in the η/π0\eta /\pi ^0 ratio with a significance of 6.2σ6.2\sigma

    Relative particle yield fluctuations in  Pb-Pb \text{ Pb-Pb } collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV\sqrt{s_\mathrm{{NN}}} =2.76\hbox { TeV}

    First results on K/π\hbox {K}/\pi , p/π\hbox {p}/\pi and K/p fluctuations are obtained with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC as a function of centrality in  Pb-Pb \text{ Pb-Pb } collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV\sqrt{s_\mathrm{{NN}}} =2.76\hbox { TeV} . The observable νdyn\nu _{\mathrm{dyn}} , which is defined in terms of the moments of particle multiplicity distributions, is used to quantify the magnitude of dynamical fluctuations of relative particle yields and also provides insight into the correlation between particle pairs. This study is based on a novel experimental technique, called the Identity Method, which allows one to measure the moments of multiplicity distributions in case of incomplete particle identification. The results for p/π\hbox {p}/\pi show a change of sign in νdyn\nu _{\mathrm{dyn}} from positive to negative towards more peripheral collisions. For central collisions, the results follow the smooth trend of the data at lower energies and νdyn\nu _{\mathrm{dyn}} exhibits a change in sign for p/π\hbox {p}/\pi and K/p
