The Origin of Magnetic Interactions in Ca3Co2O6
We investigate the microscopic origin of the ferromagnetic and
antiferromagnetic spin exchange couplings in the quasi one-dimensional cobalt
compound Ca3Co2O6. In particular, we establish a local model which stabilizes a
ferromagnetic alignment of the S=2 spins on the cobalt sites with trigonal
prismatic symmetry, for a sufficiently strong Hund's rule coupling on the
cobalt ions. The exchange is mediated through a S=0 cobalt ion at the
octahedral sites of the chain structure. We present a strong coupling
evaluation of the Heisenberg coupling between the S=2 Co spins on a separate
chain. The chains are coupled antiferromagnetically through super-superexchange
via short O-O bonds.Comment: 5 Pages, 3 Figures; added anisotropy term in eq. 9; extended

The meaning, antecedents and outcomes of employee engagement: a narrative evidence synthesis
The claim that high levels of engagement can enhance organizational performance and individual well-being has not previously been tested through a systematic review of the evidence. To bring coherence to the diffuse body of literature on engagement, the authors conducted a systematic synthesis of narrative evidence involving 214 studies focused on the meaning, antecedents and outcomes of engagement. The authors identiïŹed six distinct conceptualizations of engagement, with the ïŹeld dominated by the Utrecht Groupâs âwork engagementâ construct and measure, and by the theorization of engagement within the âjob demandsâresourcesâ framework. Five groups of factors served as antecedents to engagement: psychological states; job design; leadership; organizational and team factors; and organizational interventions. Engagement was found to be positively associated with individual morale, task performance, extra-role performance and organizational performance, and the evidence was most robust in relation to task performance. However, there was an over-reliance on quantitative, cross-sectional and self-report studies within the ïŹeld, which limited claims of causality. To address controversies over the commonly used measures and concepts in the ïŹeld and gaps in the evidence-base, the authors set out an agenda for future research that integrates emerging critical sociological perspectives on engagement with the psychological perspectives that currently dominate the ïŹeld
How socially irresponsible are socially responsible mutual funds? A persistence analysis
Based on a dataset of over 400 fund compositions in the years 2003-2018 this paper analyzes the persistence of controversies scores and environmental, social, governance (ESG) scores in socially responsible US mutual funds. As measurements for corporate social irresponsibility as well as corporate social responsibility activities, it is shown that US mutual funds exhibit controversies and ESG persistence in the short and longer-term. When examining the relationship between controversies and ESG scores in comparison with management fees, it becomes apparent that higher-paid managers achieve better results regarding controversies scoring but worse results regarding ESG scoring, compared to lower-paid managers
Microscopic derivation of magnetic coupling in Ca3Co2O6
For cobalt atoms placed along chain structures in Ca3Co2O6, we investigate
the spin exchange coupling between atoms in high spin states. Consistent with
experimental findings, the coupling is weakly ferromagnetic.Comment: 2 pages, 1 figur
Developing and Testing a New Measure of Staff Nurse Clinical Leadership: The Clinical Leadership Survey
AIM: To test the psychometric properties of a newly developed measure of staff nurse clinical leadership derived from Kouzes and Posner\u27s model of transformational leadership.
BACKGROUND: While nurses have been recognized for their essential role in keeping patients safe, there has been little empirical research that has examined clinical leadership at the staff nurse level.
METHODS: A non-experimental survey design was used to test the psychometric properties of the clinical leadership survey (CLS). Four hundred and eighty registered nurses (RNs) providing direct patient care in Ontario acute care hospitals returned useable questionnaires.
RESULTS: Confirmatory factor analysis provided preliminary evidence for the construct validity for the new measure of staff nurse clinical leadership. Structural empowerment fully mediated the relationship between nursing leadership and staff nurse clinical leadership.
CONCLUSION: The results provide encouraging evidence for the construct validity of the CLS.
IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: Nursing administrators must create empowering work environments to ensure staff nurses have access to work structures which enable them to enact clinical leadership behaviours while providing direct patient care
