Statistical anisotropy of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence
Direct numerical simulations of decaying and forced magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)
turbulence without and with mean magnetic field are analyzed by higher-order
two-point statistics. The turbulence exhibits statistical anisotropy with
respect to the direction of the local magnetic field even in the case of global
isotropy. A mean magnetic field reduces the parallel-field dynamics while in
the perpendicular direction a gradual transition towards two-dimensional MHD
turbulence is observed with inertial-range scaling of the
perpendicular energy spectrum. An intermittency model based on the Log-Poisson
approach, , is able to describe the observed

Influence of uncorrelated overlayers on the magnetism in thin itinerant-electron films
The influence of uncorrelated (nonmagnetic) overlayers on the magnetic
properties of thin itinerant-electron films is investigated within the
single-band Hubbard model. The Coulomb correlation between the electrons in the
ferromagnetic layers is treated by using the spectral density approach (SDA).
It is found that the presence of nonmagnetic layers has a strong effect on the
magnetic properties of thin films. The Curie temperatures of very thin films
are modified by the uncorrelated overlayers. The quasiparticle density of
states is used to analyze the results. In addition, the coupling between the
ferromagnetic layers and the nonmagnetic layers is discussed in detail. The
coupling depends on the band occupation of the nonmagnetic layers, while it is
almost independent of the number of the nonmagnetic layers. The induced
polarization in the nonmagnetic layers shows a long-range decreasing
oscillatory behavior and it depends on the coupling between ferromagnetic and

Ultrasonically enhanced low-temperature drying of apple: Influence on drying kinetics and antioxidant potential
[EN] Low-temperature air drying represents an alternative means to hot air drying of better retaining the
sensory, nutritional and functional properties of foods. However, reducing the air temperature to figures
below the product s freezing point involves low drying rates, which largely places constraints on any
further industrial application. The main aim of this work was to evaluate the feasibility of using power
ultrasound to improve the low-temperature drying of apple, considering not only the kinetic effects
but also the influence on the antioxidant potential of the dried apple.
For that purpose, apple (Malus domestica cv. Granny Smith) cubes (8.8 mm side) were dried (2 m/s and
a relative humidity of under 10%) at low temperatures ( 10, 5, 0, 5 and 10 C) with (20.5 kW/m3) and
without ultrasound application. The drying kinetics were modeled by considering the diffusion theory,
negligible shrinkage and cubic geometry. In the dried apple, total phenolic and flavonoid contents and
antioxidant capacity were measured.
The application of power ultrasound sped up the drying kinetics at every temperature tested, achieving
drying time reductions of up to 77%, which was linked to the improvement in diffusion and convective
mass transport. In overall terms, ultrasound application involved a greater degradation of polyphenol
and flavonoid contents and a reduction of the antioxidant capacity, which was related to the cell

Measurement of CP observables in B± → D(⁎)K± and B± → D(⁎)π± decays
Measurements of CP observables in B ± →D (⁎) K ± and B ± →D (⁎) π ± decays are presented, where D (⁎) indicates a neutral D or D ⁎ meson that is an admixture of D (⁎)0 and D¯ (⁎)0 states. Decays of the D ⁎ meson to the Dπ 0 and Dγ final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon, resulting in distinctive shapes in the B candidate invariant mass distribution. Decays of the D meson are fully reconstructed in the K ± π ∓ , K + K − and π + π − final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons produced in pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0, 1.0 and 2.0 fb −1 taken at centre-of-mass energies of s=7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. The study of B ± →D ⁎ K ± and B ± →D ⁎ π ± decays using a partial reconstruction method is the first of its kind, while the measurement of B ± →DK ± and B ± →Dπ ± decays is an update of previous LHCb measurements. Prompt K_short production in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=0.9 TeV
The production of K_short mesons in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy
of 0.9 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The
luminosity of the analysed sample is determined using a novel technique,
involving measurements of the beam currents, sizes and positions, and is found
to be 6.8 +/- 1.0 microbarn^-1. The differential prompt K_short production
cross-section is measured as a function of the K_short transverse momentum and
rapidity in the region 0 < pT < 1.6 GeV/c and 2.5 < y < 4.0. The data are found
to be in reasonable agreement with previous measurements and generator

collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of

First observation of forward production in collisions at TeV
The decay Z→bb¯ is reconstructed in pp collision data, corresponding to 2 fb −1 of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV. The product of the Z production cross-section and the Z→bb¯ branching fraction is measured for candidates in the fiducial region defined by two particle-level b -quark jets with pseudorapidities in the range 2.220 GeV and dijet invariant mass in the range 452045 < m_{jj} < 1655462 \pm 763Z \rightarrow b \bar{b}332 \pm 46 \pm 59Z \rightarrow b \bar{b}pp$ collisions
Study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state
A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) mesons from b-hadron decays are selected in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Describing the lineshape with a Breit-Wigner function, the mass splitting between the chi(c1 )(3872) and psi(2S) states, Delta m, and the width of the chi(c1 )(3872) state, Gamma(Bw), are determined to be (Delta m=185.598 +/- 0.067 +/- 0.068 Mev,)(Gamma BW=1.39 +/- 0.24 +/- 0.10 Mev,) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using a Flatte-inspired model, the mode and full width at half maximum of the lineshape are determined to be (mode=3871.69+0.00+0.05 MeV.)(FWHM=0.22-0.04+0.13+0.07+0.11-0.06-0.13 MeV, ) An investigation of the analytic structure of the Flatte amplitude reveals a pole structure, which is compatible with a quasibound D-0(D) over bar*(0) state but a quasivirtual state is still allowed at the level of 2 standard deviations
