Potential Role of Nuclear Factor ÎșB in Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

    Get PDF
Diabetic cardiomyopathy entails the cardiac injury induced by diabetes independently of any vascular disease or hypertension. Some transcription factors have been proposed to control the gene program involved in the setting and development of related processes. Nuclear factor-kappa B is a pleiotropic transcription factor associated to the regulation of many heart diseases. However, the nuclear factor-kappa B role in diabetic cardiomyopathy is under investigation. In this paper, we review the nuclear factor-kappa B pathway and its role in several processes that have been linked to diabetic cardiomyopathy, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, fibrosis, hypertrophy and apoptosis

    Get PDF
Angular correlations in B+→X(3872)K+B^+\to X(3872) K^+ decays, with X(3872)→ρ0J/ψX(3872)\to \rho^0 J/\psi, ρ0→π+π−\rho^0\to\pi^+\pi^- and J/ψ→Ό+Ό−J/\psi \to\mu^+\mu^-, are used to measure orbital angular momentum contributions and to determine the JPCJ^{PC} value of the X(3872)X(3872) meson. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1^{-1} of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector. This determination, for the first time performed without assuming a value for the orbital angular momentum, confirms the quantum numbers to be JPC=1++J^{PC}=1^{++}. The X(3872)X(3872) is found to decay predominantly through S wave and an upper limit of 4%4\% at 95%95\% C.L. is set on the fraction of D wave.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figure

Observation of two new Ξb−\Xi_b^- baryon resonances

    Get PDF
Two structures are observed close to the kinematic threshold in the Ξb0π−\Xi_b^0 \pi^- mass spectrum in a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1^{-1} recorded by the LHCb experiment. In the quark model, two baryonic resonances with quark content bdsbds are expected in this mass region: the spin-parity JP=12+J^P = \frac{1}{2}^+ and JP=32+J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+ states, denoted Ξbâ€Č−\Xi_b^{\prime -} and Ξb∗−\Xi_b^{*-}. Interpreting the structures as these resonances, we measure the mass differences and the width of the heavier state to be m(Ξbâ€Č−)−m(Ξb0)−m(π−)=3.653±0.018±0.006m(\Xi_b^{\prime -}) - m(\Xi_b^0) - m(\pi^{-}) = 3.653 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.006 MeV/c2/c^2, m(Ξb∗−)−m(Ξb0)−m(π−)=23.96±0.12±0.06m(\Xi_b^{*-}) - m(\Xi_b^0) - m(\pi^{-}) = 23.96 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.06 MeV/c2/c^2, Γ(Ξb∗−)=1.65±0.31±0.10\Gamma(\Xi_b^{*-}) = 1.65 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.10 MeV, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The width of the lighter state is consistent with zero, and we place an upper limit of Γ(Ξbâ€Č−)<0.08\Gamma(\Xi_b^{\prime -}) < 0.08 MeV at 95% confidence level. Relative production rates of these states are also reported.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figure

Measurement of the CP-violating phase \phi s in Bs->J/\psi\pi+\pi- decays

    Get PDF
Measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase phi_s in Bs decays is of prime importance in probing new physics. Here 7421 +/- 105 signal events from the dominantly CP-odd final state J/\psi pi+ pi- are selected in 1/fb of pp collision data collected at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV with the LHCb detector. A time-dependent fit to the data yields a value of phi_s=-0.019^{+0.173+0.004}_{-0.174-0.003} rad, consistent with the Standard Model expectation. No evidence of direct CP violation is found.Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures; minor revisions on May 23, 201

    Observation of the decay Bc→J/ψK+K−π+B_c \rightarrow J/\psi K^+ K^- \pi^+

    Get PDF
The decay Bc→J/ψK+K−π+B_c\rightarrow J/\psi K^+ K^- \pi^+ is observed for the first time, using proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb−1^{-1}. A signal yield of 78±1478\pm14 decays is reported with a significance of 6.2 standard deviations. The ratio of the branching fraction of \B_c \rightarrow J/\psi K^+ K^- \pi^+ decays to that of Bc→J/ψπ+B_c \rightarrow J/\psi \pi^+ decays is measured to be 0.53±0.10±0.050.53\pm 0.10\pm0.05, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figure

    Get PDF
A search for associated production of a ZZ boson with an open charm meson is presented using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−‘1.0\,\mathrm{fb}^{-`} of proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7\,TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment. %% Seven candidate events for associated production of a ZZ boson with a D0D^0 meson and four candidate events for a ZZ boson with a D+D^+ meson are observed with a combined significance of 5.1standard deviations. The production cross-sections in the forward region are measured to be σZ→Ό+ÎŒâˆ’â€‰âŁ,D0=2.50±1.12±0.22pb\sigma_{Z\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-\!,D^0} = 2.50\pm1.12\pm0.22pb σZ→Ό+ÎŒâˆ’â€‰âŁ,D+=0.44±0.23±0.03pb,\sigma_{Z\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-\!,D^+} = 0.44\pm0.23\pm0.03pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figure

Differential branching fraction and angular analysis of the decay B0→K∗0ÎŒ+Ό−

    Get PDF
The angular distribution and differential branching fraction of the decay B 0→ K ∗0 ÎŒ + ÎŒ − are studied using a data sample, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1. Several angular observables are measured in bins of the dimuon invariant mass squared, q 2. A first measurement of the zero-crossing point of the forward-backward asymmetry of the dimuon system is also presented. The zero-crossing point is measured to be q20=4.9±0.9GeV2/c4 , where the uncertainty is the sum of statistical and systematic uncertainties. The results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions

    Observation of the Bs0→ηâ€Čηâ€ČB^0_s\to\eta'\eta' decay

    Get PDF
The first observation of the Bs0→ηâ€Čηâ€ČB^0_s\to\eta'\eta' decay is reported. The study is based on a sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to 3.03.0 fb−1{\rm fb^{-1}} of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector. The significance of the signal is 6.46.4 standard deviations. The branching fraction is measured to be [3.31±0.64 (stat)±0.28 (syst)±0.12 (norm)]×10−5[3.31 \pm 0.64\,{\rm (stat)} \pm 0.28\,{\rm (syst)} \pm 0.12\,{\rm (norm)}]\times10^{-5}, where the third uncertainty comes from the B±→ηâ€ČK±B^{\pm}\to\eta' K^{\pm} branching fraction that is used as a normalisation. In addition, the charge asymmetries of B±→ηâ€ČK±B^{\pm}\to\eta' K^{\pm} and B±→ϕK±B^{\pm}\to\phi K^{\pm}, which are control channels, are measured to be (−0.2±1.3)%(-0.2 \pm1.3)\% and (+1.7±1.3)%(+1.7\pm1.3)\%, respectively. All results are consistent with theoretical expectations

The Bs0→J/ψKS0B_s^0\to J/\psi K_S^0 branching fraction is measured in a data sample corresponding to 0.41fb−1fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector at the LHC. This channel is sensitive to the penguin contributions affecting the sin2ÎČ\beta measurement from B0→J/ψKS0B^0\to J/\psi K_S^0 The time-integrated branching fraction is measured to be BF(Bs0→J/ψKS0)=(1.83±0.28)×10−5BF(B_s^0\to J/\psi K_S^0)=(1.83\pm0.28)\times10^{-5}. Search for CP violation in D+→ϕπ+ and D+s→K0Sπ+ decays

    Get PDF
A search for CP violation in D + → ϕπ + decays is performed using data collected in 2011 by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1 at a centre of mass energy of 7 TeV. The CP -violating asymmetry is measured to be (−0.04 ± 0.14 ± 0.14)% for candidates with K − K + mass within 20 MeV/c 2 of the ϕ meson mass. A search for a CP -violating asymmetry that varies across the ϕ mass region of the D + → K − K + π + Dalitz plot is also performed, and no evidence for CP violation is found. In addition, the CP asymmetry in the D+s→K0Sπ+ decay is measured to be (0.61 ± 0.83 ± 0.14)%
