Edge of entanglement in non-ergodic states: a complexity parameter formulation

We analyze the subsystem size scaling of the entanglement entropy of a non-ergodic pure state that can be described by a multi-parametric Gaussian ensemble of complex matrices in a bipartite basis. Our analysis indicates, for a given set of global constraints, the existence of infinite number of universality classes of local complexity, characterized by the complexity parameter, for which the entanglement entropy reveals a universal scaling with subsystem size. A rescaling of the complexity parameter helps us to identify the critical regime for the entanglement entropy of a broad range of pure non-ergodic states.Comment: 27 Pages, 9 Figure

Profile of Clients & HIV positive patients attending the ICTC of a tertiary care center of Bihar: A situational analysis

    Get PDF
Background: The services provided in an ICTC help in awareness about HIV and help the clients to undergo HIV test in a comfortable and confidential environment. Periodical evaluation of counseling, testing, and referral services is mandatory to find out any existing deficits and barriers of all functions of ICTCs. Objectives: To study the socio-demographic profile of ICTC attendees and to find out sero-positivity of these clients. Methods: The present study was carried out among ICTC attendees in the ICTC unit, at All India Institute of Medical Sciences of Patna district. A retrospective collection of data from available records of all clients who attended ICTC of our hospital between January 2019 and December 2019 was carried out after approval from institutional research and ethics committee. Results: A total of 28876 clients were tested during January-December 2019 and among them all (100%) of tests were provider initiated. Out of the total attendees, 223 (0.77%) were found to be positive. It was also observed that the number of clients attending the ICTC has increased every month. Conclusion: It shows a high illiteracy and high spouse positive rate among the reactive cases. The young age group was found to be affected more and it definitely raises a cocern

Counterpropagating topological and quantum Hall edge channels

The survival of the quantum spin Hall edge channels in presence of an external magnetic field has been a subject of experimental and theoretical research. The inversion of Landau levels that accommodates the quantum spin Hall effect is destroyed at a critical magnetic field, and a trivial insulating gap appears in the spectrum for stronger fields. In this work, we report the absence of this transport gap in disordered two dimensional topological insulators in perpendicular magnetic fields of up to 16 T. Instead, we observe that a topological edge channel (from band inversion) coexists with a counterpropagating quantum Hall edge channel for magnetic fields at which the transition to the insulating regime is expected. For larger fields, we observe only the quantum Hall edge channel with transverse resistance close to h/e2h/e^2. By tuning the disorder using different fabrication processes, we find evidence that this unexpected ν=1\nu=1 plateau originates from extended quantum Hall edge channels along a continuous network of charge puddles at the edges of the device.Comment: 8+3 pages, 5+2 figure
