    Workplace Conflict Management Styles: Comparative Study of Indian and Nigerian Employees

    Conflict is all pervasive in nature and organizations around the world are not untouched with it. Present study deals with interpersonal conflict in corporate and academic organizations of India and Nigeria on a comparative basis. The study has a non-experimental, descriptive, and quantitative research design, in which a sample size of 103 Indian and 88 Nigerian employees was analyzed through stratified random sampling. Statistical measures like Cronbach’s alpha, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and associated Games Howell procedure for multiple comparisons, bivariate correlation and chi square tests were employed to analyze the data. Examination of various independent variables and findings of the research reveal that there is a significant difference in how employees of both the countries differ in their approach to conflict handling. Interpersonal conflict understanding is crucial for smooth functioning of globalized organizations. Managers today are devising innovative handling techniques as conflict poses a great challenge for them. The present study can facilitate the management practitioners in understanding the concept and its implications in Indian and Nigerian context, the two countries which share a very warm, solid and seasoned socio-economic relationship.     Cutting Board Hygiene Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Food Handlers at Home during Covid19 Pandemic in Selangor

    The microbial quality of cutting boards used in the home kitchen indicates hygiene conditions and a potential source of public health risk. This study aimed to assess the hygiene knowledge, attitudes and practices on cutting boards among food handlers at home during the Covid19 pandemic in Selangor. One hundred home food handlers participated in the online survey using a validated self-administered questionnaire. Overall, findings indicate sufficient hygiene knowledge, attitudes and practices on cutting boards. These findings emphasize the need for educating home food handlers on food hygiene to improve their knowledge, behaviour and practices.     Effects of Ambient Temperature and Needle to Collector Distance on PVA Nanofibers Diameter Obtained From Electrospinning Technique

    Electro spinning is regarded as an active technique for producing biomimetic scaffolds used in tissue engineering applications from synthetic and natural polymers. The technique used in this research gives the ability to produce bio-polymeric materials for fabricating engineered scaffold tissues by preparing (PVA) solution. Ambient temperature at (25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 °C) and needle tip to collector distance with (4, 8, 12, 15, 20 and 22 cm) were studied to optimize the electrospun fibers (size and shape). The electrospun fibers topography were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Measurements were done for each (SEM) images and lead to determine the mean diameters size of the obtained fibers. Results showed that the average fiber diameter of the (PVA) electrospun decreased to the range (220–500 nm) without creation of any beads, fibers diameter decreased as ambient temperature increase to certain temperature at (45 °C) and retrain to increase at (50 °C) temperature, while increasing the distance of the needle tip to collector decrease the mean nanofiber diameter from (875 nm) at (4 cm) to (600 nm) at (22 cm)

Monitoring of HAI rates, with feedback, is a core component of infection prevention and control programmes. Digitalization of healthcare data has created novel opportunities for automating the HAI surveillance process to varying degrees. However, methods are not standardized and vary widely between different healthcare facilities. Most current automated surveillance (AS) systems have been confined to local settings, and practical guidance on how to implement large-scale AS is needed.[Methods] This document was written by a task force formed in March 2019 within the PRAISE network (Providing a Roadmap for Automated Infection Surveillance in Europe), gathering experts in HAI surveillance from ten European countries.[Results] The document provides an overview of the key e-health aspects of implementing an AS system of HAI in a clinical environment to support both the infection prevention and control team and information technology (IT) departments. The focus is on understanding the basic principles of storage and structure of healthcare data, as well as the general organization of IT infrastructure in surveillance networks and participating healthcare facilities. The fundamentals of data standardization, interoperability and algorithms in relation to HAI surveillance are covered. Finally, technical aspects and practical examples of accessing, storing and sharing healthcare data within a HAI surveillance network, as well as maintenance and quality control of such a system, are discussed.[Conclusions] With the guidance given in this document, along with the PRAISE roadmap and governance documents, readers will find comprehensive support to implement large-scale AS in a surveillance network.This network has been supported under the 7th transnational call within the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR), Network Call on Surveillance (2018) and was thereby funded by ZonMw (grant 549007001).     Future and potential spending on health 2015-40: Development assistance for health, and government, prepaid private, and out-of-pocket health spending in 184 countries

    Background: The amount of resources, particularly prepaid resources, available for health can affect access to health care and health outcomes. Although health spending tends to increase with economic development, tremendous variation exists among health financing systems. Estimates of future spending can be beneficial for policy makers and planners, and can identify financing gaps. In this study, we estimate future gross domestic product (GDP), all-sector government spending, and health spending disaggregated by source, and we compare expected future spending to potential future spending. Methods: We extracted GDP, government spending in 184 countries from 1980-2015, and health spend data from 1995-2014. We used a series of ensemble models to estimate future GDP, all-sector government spending, development assistance for health, and government, out-of-pocket, and prepaid private health spending through 2040. We used frontier analyses to identify patterns exhibited by the countries that dedicate the most funding to health, and used these frontiers to estimate potential health spending for each low-income or middle-income country. All estimates are inflation and purchasing power adjusted. Findings: We estimated that global spending on health will increase from US9.21trillionin2014to9.21 trillion in 2014 to 24.24 trillion (uncertainty interval [UI] 20.47-29.72) in 2040. We expect per capita health spending to increase fastest in upper-middle-income countries, at 5.3% (UI 4.1-6.8) per year. This growth is driven by continued growth in GDP, government spending, and government health spending. Lower-middle income countries are expected to grow at 4.2% (3.8-4.9). High-income countries are expected to grow at 2.1% (UI 1.8-2.4) and low-income countries are expected to grow at 1.8% (1.0-2.8). Despite this growth, health spending per capita in low-income countries is expected to remain low, at 154(UI133−181)percapitain2030and154 (UI 133-181) per capita in 2030 and 195 (157-258) per capita in 2040. Increases in national health spending to reach the level of the countries who spend the most on health, relative to their level of economic development, would mean $321 (157-258) per capita was available for health in 2040 in low-income countries. Interpretation: Health spending is associated with economic development but past trends and relationships suggest that spending will remain variable, and low in some low-resource settings. Policy change could lead to increased health spending, although for the poorest countries external support might remain essential

    Mapping subnational HIV mortality in six Latin American countries with incomplete vital registration systems

    BackgroundHuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV) remains a public health priority in Latin America. While the burden of HIV is historically concentrated in urban areas and high-risk groups, subnational estimates that cover multiple countries and years are missing. This paucity is partially due to incomplete vital registration (VR) systems and statistical challenges related to estimating mortality rates in areas with low numbers of HIV deaths. In this analysis, we address this gap and provide novel estimates of the HIV mortality rate and the number of HIV deaths by age group, sex, and municipality in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico.MethodsWe performed an ecological study using VR data ranging from 2000 to 2017, dependent on individual country data availability. We modeled HIV mortality using a Bayesian spatially explicit mixed-effects regression model that incorporates prior information on VR completeness. We calibrated our results to the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017.ResultsAll countries displayed over a 40-fold difference in HIV mortality between municipalities with the highest and lowest age-standardized HIV mortality rate in the last year of study for men, and over a 20-fold difference for women. Despite decreases in national HIV mortality in all countries-apart from Ecuador-across the period of study, we found broad variation in relative changes in HIV mortality at the municipality level and increasing relative inequality over time in all countries. In all six countries included in this analysis, 50% or more HIV deaths were concentrated in fewer than 10% of municipalities in the latest year of study. In addition, national age patterns reflected shifts in mortality to older age groups-the median age group among decedents ranged from 30 to 45years of age at the municipality level in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico in 2017.ConclusionsOur subnational estimates of HIV mortality revealed significant spatial variation and diverging local trends in HIV mortality over time and by age. This analysis provides a framework for incorporating data and uncertainty from incomplete VR systems and can help guide more geographically precise public health intervention to support HIV-related care and reduce HIV-related deaths.Peer reviewe
