Volver sobre el concepto de función logarítmica, con los recursos de construcción geométrica y movimiento que nos brinda la tecnología, para una aproximación a la curva logarítmica a través de la relación entre una progresión geométrica y una progresión aritmética es reconstruir el concepto de logaritmo usando algunos de los elementos que inspiraron a Napier en el siglo XVII, los cuales consideramos deben estar ligados a la explicación que se presente actualmente en las aulas. Una construcción que evidencie esta relación entre las progresiones favorece la comprensión del concepto logaritmo y puede contribuir en la generación de reflexiones como, por ejemplo, por qué la base e y qué es lo “natural” del logaritmo natural

La atención a la situación de emergencia planetaria en los museos de ciencias: El inicio de un cambio necesario

En el presente trabajo analizamos el contenido de dos importantes museos franceses que han empezado a incorporar de forma clara y extensa, no meramente incidental, la atención a la actual situación de emergencia planetaria. Se trata de dos ejemplos notables de superación todavía parcial de la orientación tradicional de los museos como meros exponentes propagandísticos de los logros científicos y de respuesta positiva a los llamamientos de Naciones Unidas para que todos los educadores contribuyamos a favorecer la participación ciudadana en la toma de decisiones fundamentadas, generando actitudes y comportamientos orientados a la consecución de un futuro sostenible

Los Museos de ciencias, que han sido concebidos, tradicionalmente, como exponentes de los logros científicos, no están respondiendo, en general, al llamamiento que numerosos expertos y organismos internacionales vienen haciendo a los educadoras, incluidos los responsables de la educación no reglada, para que contribuyan a la percepción ciudadana de la situación de emergencia planetaria. Museos para la 'glocalidad': Una propuesta de museo que ayude a analizar los problemas de una región dada en el marco de la situación del mundo

Se contempla en este trabajo la posibilidad de una reorientación de los museos con el fin de que puedan contribuir a la formación ciudadana para hacer frente a la actual situación de emergencia planetaria a partir del nuevo concepto de 'glocalidad', como expresión de la estrecha vinculación entre los problemas globales del planeta y los locales de cualquier región. Se ilustra la posibilidad de esta orientación analizando, como ejemplo, el contenido del 'Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature', en Winnipeg (Canadá)

Combined therapies of antithrombotics and antioxidants delay in silico brain tumor progression

Glioblastoma multiforme, the most frequent type of primary brain tumor, is a rapidly evolving and spatially heterogeneous high-grade astrocytoma that presents areas of necrosis, hypercellularity and microvascular hyperplasia. The aberrant vasculature leads to hypoxic areas and results in an increase of the oxidative stress selecting for more invasive tumor cell phenotypes. In our study we assay in silico different therapeutic approaches which combine antithrombotics, antioxidants and standard radiotherapy. To do so, we have developed a biocomputational model of glioblastoma multiforme that incorporates the spatio-temporal interplay among two glioma cell phenotypes corresponding to oxygenated and hypoxic cells, a necrotic core and the local vasculature whose response evolves with tumor progression. Our numerical simulations predict that suitable combinations of antithrombotics and antioxidants may diminish, in a synergetic way, oxidative stress and the subsequent hypoxic response. This novel therapeutical strategy, with potentially low or no toxicity, might reduce tumor invasion and further sensitize glioblastoma multiforme to conventional radiotherapy or other cytotoxic agents, hopefully increasing median patient overall survival time.Comment: 8 figure

Phytophthora oleae, a new root pathogen of wild olives

Wild olive (Olea europaea subsp. europaea var. sylvestris) is an important component of Mediterranean forests and a key genetic source for olive improvement programmes. Since 2009, a severe decline caused by Phytophthora cryptogea and P. megasperma has been detected in a protected wild olive forest of high ecological value (Dehesa de Abajo, Seville, Spain). In this natural forest, sampling of roots and soil was carried out on 25 wild olives with symptoms in 2014 and 2015. Apart from the already known P. cryptogea A1 and P. megasperma, a third Phytophthora species was consistently isolated from wild olive rootlets with symptoms. These isolates conformed morphologically with the newly described species P. oleae and were confirmed by analysis of their ITS regions and cox1 sequences. Temperature–growth relationships showed a maximum growth at 19.9 °C on carrot agar medium, making it the lowest temperature Phytophthora species infecting wild olive roots. Pathogenicity was confirmed on 1‐year‐old healthy wild olive seedlings and was similar to the previously known pathogenic phytophthoras. As temperature requirements are quite different, the three Phytophthora species may be active against wild olive roots in different seasons. However, the prevalence of P. oleae infecting wild olives in recent years could be due to its introduction as a new invasive pathogen. The probable invasive nature of P. oleae, together with increasing rain episodes concentrated in short periods frequent in southern Spain, would allow the outbreak of infections in wild olive forests, and also put cultivated olive orchards at risk

Reflections on the creative process, analysis of strategic models for the development of creative thinking in the Industrial Designer

[EN] The purpose of this article is to analyze the different strategic models to understand and identify the factors that hinder the ability to develop divergent, open thinking free of technical and emotional bias to produce new and valuable things, or to apply solutions in a wide variety of ways. Studies on creators in the field of psychology, the process of development of traditional creativity applied in the degree in industrial design of the University Center UAEM Valle de Chalco in Mexico, and analogical reasoning through the sources of inspiration for creative production were taken into account. The information theory called "Hamming Distance" was used to verify if the real estimated value is congruent with the ideal estimated value, numerical values obtained from the different strategic models for creativity and postures emitted by the teachers of the area. Uber and urban mobility in the metropolitan geography of Guadalajara: boom and decline

Los avances tecnológicos en materia digital han facilitado el acceso al espacio virtual o ciberespacio; un lugar no físico donde están ocurriendo infinidad de situaciones de la vida cotidiana. En este lugar, las empresas de redes de transporte están transformando la práctica tradicional de la movilidad urbana en las principales ciudades de México. El presente escrito discute la influencia de Uber en los desplazamientos cotidianos, su incursión, auge y posterior declive de sus condiciones iniciales en su servicio de transporte. El trabajo recurre metodológicamente al análisis de contenido y a la práctica cuasi-etnográfica, conformada por observaciones participantes, entrevistas formales e informales y ejercicios netnográficos en el Área Metropolitana de Guadalajara. Los resultados sugieren que estamos viviendo variaciones del ejercicio de la automovilidad, a través de complejas hibridaciones del modus normalis y esta nueva opción de gestión del transporte, que poco desincentiva la práctica de la movilidad urbana motorizada.The technological advances in the digital field have facilitated the access to virtual space or cyberspace; a non-physical place where countless situations of everyday life are occurring. In this place, the transport network companies are transforming the traditional practice of urban mobility in the main cities of Mexico. This paper discusses the influence of Uber in the daily movements, the incursion, boom and later decline of its initial conditions in its transport service. The paper uses a methodological analysis of the content and the quasi-ethnographic practice, consisting of participant observations, formal and informal interviews and netnographic exercises in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara. The results suggest that we are experiencing variations in the exercise of automobilility, through complex hybridizations of the modus normalis and this new option of transport management, which disincentives a little the practice of motorized urban mobility.Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educació

Non-Blocking Synchronization Between Real-Time and Non-Real-Time Applications

Real-time systems where applications with timing requirements coexist with applications without timing constraints are increasingly common. Furthermore, the processors used in desktops, smart phones or embedded devices are mostly multi-core, allowing the execution of applications in parallel. This article presents a set of non-blocking synchronization mechanisms to share data between real-time and non-real-time applications executing in different cores of a shared memory multi-core system. Four typical producer/consumer scenarios have been explored; a) shared data object with real-time reader, b) shared data object with real-time writer, c) shared queue with real-time writer, and d) shared queue with real-time reader. For these scenarios we have developed different non-blocking protocols where the execution of the real-time application is always prioritized over the execution of the non-real-time part. In this way, the real-time applications never have to repeat their operations and, consequently, their execution times are bounded. Furthermore, to reduce the overhead caused by the copies of the information used in the non-blocking algorithms, we have imposed the limitation of a single real-time reader or a single real-time writerinthealgorithmsdeveloped.Finally,we have evaluated the response times of the developed protocols on a multi-core device with the Android operating system.This work was supported in part by the Spanish Government and FEDER funds (AEI/FEDER, UE) under Grant TIN2017-86520-C3-3-R (PRECON-I4)

INFRAESTRUCTURA Y DESARROLLO: LAS AFECTACIONES DEL COMERCIO ADYACENTE A LÍNEA 3 DEL TREN LIGERO EN JALISCO

La línea 3 del tren ligero en Jalisco se ha propuesto mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes de la segunda metrópoli más importante de México, mediante la reducción del tiempo del trayecto. Sin embargo, en el proyecto ha estado ausente una concepción sistémica en su etapa de construcción, con medidas implementadas generalmente a posteriori; poco eficientes y sin consenso por parte de los afectados. En este sentido, el presente trabajo analizó el escenario en materia económica que experimentan los comercios adyacentes al trazo de la ruta, con base en la revisión y análisis de contenidos temáticos y complementados con un ejercicio cuasi-etnográfico, a través de la inspección in situ. Los resultados sugieren, que la entidad gubernamental debe considerar los diversos componentes del sistema en su etapa de planificación que le permitan subsanar los impactos indirectos generados por la infraestructura en su etapa de construcció
