    The effects of cultivar and cultivation technology on potato stress tolerance

    Tehnologija gajenja podrazumeva primenu složenih agrotehničkih mera u cilju stvaranja povoljnih uslova za rast i razvoj biljaka, odnosno za što bolje iskorišćavanje genetskog potencijala sorti. Uticaj sorte i tehnologije gajenja na komponente prinosa i otpornost krompira prema stresu proučavan je u periodu 2011 - 2013. godine na oglednom polju “Zeleni hit”, lokalitetu Zemun Polja. Eksperiment je postavljen kao trofaktorijalni poljski ogled, po metodi podeljenih parcela (split-plot), u četiri ponavljanja. Proučavan je uticaj različitih termičkih režima zemljišta indukovanih malčiranjem belom, srebrnom, crvenom, crnom polietilenskom folijom i organskim malčem (slamom) na morfološke i produktivne osobine sedam sorti krompira (Carrera, Bellarosa, Marabel, Laura, Desiree, Agria i Jelly), u uslovima navodnjavanja sistemom kap po kap. U ogled su bile uključene dve varijante bez malča, sa navodnjavanjem i sa prirodnim vodnim režimom. Uticaj godine, sorte i različitih tretmana nastiranja zemljišta na komponente prinosa i otpornost prema stresu, utvrđen je na osnovu dobijenih rezultata o prinosu po jedinici površine, broju i visini nadzemnih primarnih izdanaka, broju krtola po biljci, masi krtole, kao i na osnovu akumulacije proteina toplotnog stresa (eng. heat shock proteins - HSP). Globalno zagrevanje uveliko menja životnu sredinu ugrožavajući većinu biljnih i životinjskih vrsta. Toplotni stres (eng. heat stress - HS) se obično pominje kao posledica globalnog zagrevanja. Odgovor biljaka na stres, na molekularnom nivou, podrazumeva ekspresiju gena koji izazivaju sintezu proteina toplotnog stresa koji povećavaju otpornost biljaka. U laboratorijskim uslovima, primenom odgovarajućih metoda, ispitivana je akumulacija proteina stresa u listovima biljaka krompira. Kao potencijalni markeri korišćeni su HSP18, HSP21 i HSP101 koji predstavljaju grupu zaštitnih proteina i intereaguju sa denaturisanim proteinima, sprečavaju njihovu termalnu agregaciju kao jedan od osnovnih molekularnih mehanizama tolerancije biljaka prema visokim temperaturama. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata ekspresije HSP sorte Carrera, Marabel i Desiree mogu se okarakterisati kao visoko tolerante prema toplotnom stresu, dok su relativno tolerantni genotipovi Jelly i Laura. Najmanji nivo akumuliranih proteina imala je sorta Agria, što ovu sortu čini najmanje tolerantnom prema toplotnom stresu. Ovi rezultati su u skladu sa rezultatma statističke analize ukupnog prinosa uzoraka iz polja. Najveći prosečan ukupan prinos krtola ostvaren je kod sorte Carrera (50,45 t ha ־ ¹), zatim slede sorte Marabel (48,90 t ha־ ¹), Jelly (46,33 t ha־ ¹), Laura (41,84 t ha־ ¹), Bellarosa (40,60 t ha־ ¹) i Desiree (40,53 t ha ־¹)...Growing technology involves the use of complex cultural measures aimed at creating favourable conditions for plant growth and development, that is, for better exploitation of the genetic potential of cultivars. The effect of the cultivar and growing technology on potato yield components and stress resistance was studied in the period 2011–2013 at the experimental field of “Zeleni hit”, in the location of Zemun Polje. The experiment was set up as a three-factor field experiment by the method of split-plot designs with four replications. The effect of different soil thermal regimes induced by mulching with white, silver, red, black polyethylene foil and organic mulch (straw) on the morphological and productive characteristics of seven potato cultivars (Carrera, Bellarosa, Marabel, Laura, Desiree, Agria and Jelly), in conditions of the drip irrigation system, was studied. Two variants without mulching, with irrigation as well as with the natural water regime, were also included in the experiment. The effect of year, cultivar and different treatments of soil mulching on yield components and stress resistance was determined on the basis of the obtained results on the yield per unit area, number and height of aboveground primary shoots, number of tubers per plant, tuber weight, as well as based on the accumulation of the heat shock proteins (HSP). Global warming is greatly changing the environment jeopardizing the majority of plant and animal species. Heat stress is usually mentioned as a result of global warming. The response of plants to stress at the molecular level involves the expression of genes that cause the synthesis of the heat shock proteins, which increase the resistance of plants. In laboratory conditions, by using appropriate methods, the accumulation of the heat shock proteins in leaves of potato plants was tested. The markers HSP18, HSP21 and HSP101 representing the group of protective proteins and interacting with denatured proteins, preventing their thermal aggregation as one of the basic molecular mechanisms of plant tolerance to high temperatures were used as potential makers. Based on the obtained results on the expressions of HSP, the cultivars Carrera, Marabel and Desiree may be characterized as highly tolerant to heat stress, while the genotypes Jelly and Laura are relatively tolerant. The lowest level of the accumulated proteins was found in the Agria cultivar, which makes this cultivar the least tolerant to heat stress..

    Exploitation of minors for pornographic purposes : the sociodemographic and criminal profile of the perpetrator

    The paper presents research in the form of a survey aimed at examining the sociodemographic and criminal profile of the perpetrator of the crime of displaying, acquiring and possession of pornographic material and exploitation of a juvenile for pornography under Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Serbia, with particular reference to the imposed criminal sanctions. The survey was conducted at the beginning of 2018 and included 62 convicted male persons aged 18 to 70, prosecuted under jurisdiction of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Combating High-Tech Crime in the period from 2012 to 2016. The results of the research show that the perpetrators of the said criminal offense are exclusively male individuals of an average age of 36.6 years, whose structure in terms of the working status is extremely diverse, starting from workers of various occupations, students to pensioners. In terms of other socio-demographic characteristics, the results of the survey show that the largest percentage of the convicted offenders have completed secondary school, that the number of the employed and unemployed is the same, that they are not married, gravitate towards urban areas, and have not been convicted before. In terms of the modus operandi, the results of the survey show that two methods of execution are dominant: the first implies the use of P2P technology on the Internet and the use of certain closed networks, which allow searching, downloading and sharing of photos and audio-visual data whereas the other involves creating a false profile on the Facebook social network

    Sadržaj i hemijski sastav etarskog ulja anisa

    The field experiments were carried out during 2011 and 2012 in three localities in Vojvodina (Serbia) with the application of six different fertilizer regimes aimed at determining the content and composition of the aniseed essential oil. It was found that the average essential oil content of aniseed, obtained by hydrodistillation, was 3.72%. The weather conditions during the year and the locality had a statistically significant effect on the essential oil content, while different source of fertilizers was not statistically significant for the essential oil content and its composition. Essential oil composition was determined using GC–MS technique, and a total of 15 compounds were identified. It was found that the major component was trans-anethole, 94.78% on the average, and the coefficient of variation was 2%. The second most abundant component was γ-himachalene with 2.53% (CV 28%). All other components were present in less than 1%.U radu su prikazani rezultati ispitivanja količine i hemij- skog sastava etarskog ulja anisa gajenog tokom 2011. i 2012. godine na tri lokaliteta u Vojvodini (Srbija), pri primeni šest različitih vrsta đubriva. Utvrđeno je da je prosečna količina etarskog ulja u plodovima anisa dobijena metodom de stilacije vodenom parom 3.72%. Vremenski uslovi tokom godine i lokalitet imaju statistički značajan efekat na sadržaj etarskog ulja i njegov hemijski sa stav, dok primena različitih vrsta đubriva ne utiče na ove parametre. Hemij ski sastav etarskog ulja određen je primenom GC–MS analize, pri čemu je identifikovano ukupno 15 komponenti. Ustanovljeno je da je glavna komponenta transanetol, se prosečno 94,78%, i koeficijentom varijacije 2%. Druga najzastupljenija komponenta bila je γ-himahalen sa 2,53% (CV 28%).     Measure and statistical attractors for nonautonomous dynamical systems

Available on open access from Springer via the DOI in this recordVarious inequivalent notions of attraction for autonomous dynamical systems have been proposed, each of them useful to understand specific aspects of attraction. Milnor’s notion of a measure attractor considers invariant sets with positive measure basin of attraction, while Ilyashenko’s weaker notion of a statistical attractor considers positive measure points that approach the invariant set in terms of averages. In this paper we propose generalisations of these notions to nonautonomous evolution processes in continuous time. We demonstrate that pullback/forward measure/statistical attractors can be defined in an analogous manner and relate these to the respective autonomous notions when an autonomous system is considered as nonautonomous. There are some subtleties even in this special case – we illustrate an example of a two-dimensional flow with a one-dimensional measure attractor containing a single point statistical attractor. We show, the single point can be a pullback measure attractor for this system. Finally, for the particular case of an asymptotically autonomous system (where there are autonomous future and past limit systems) we relate pullback (respectively, forward) attractors to the past (respectively, future) limit systems.Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC

    In this The development of electrically powered caterpillar CAT D7E began at the end of the 20th century (Caterpillar Inc, Illinois, U.S.A), a machine that has paved the way for design and development of heavy caterpillar tractors. Switching to electrically powered engines, for example, offers considerable benefits compared to a mechanical transmission system, because the caterpillar concept of the CAT D7E envisions a way that hybrid engine systems of heavy and other machinery must follow in the near future. This is where the future and the next century of heavy machines begins, this was a statement made by the constructors from Caterpillar Inc. - USA, 2010. Why? Switching to electrically powered engines of heavy caterpillar tractors, for example the CAT D7E, has considerable advantages compared to a mechanical drive system of a similar heavy caterpillar tractor or some other similar working machines. .Razvoj guseničara sa električnom transmisijom, Cat D7E, počinje krajem XX veka kao mašine indikatora budućih pravaca u dizajnu i razvoju teških tipova traktora guseničara, (Caterpillar, Illinois, U.S.A). Prelazak na sistem sa električnom transmisijom kao jednim od oblika alternativnih pogona, pruža značajne prednosti u poređenju sa klasičnim sistemima pogona (mehaničkim prenosnim sistemom, hidrostatičkim prenosnim sistemom) jer koncepcija guseničara Cat D7E predviđa put kojim može krenuti razvoj alternativnih pogona teških radnih i drugih mašina u skoroj budućnosti. Ovde počinje budućnost i sledeći vek teških radnih mašina, izjavili su konstruktori kompanije Caterpillar-USA, 2010. godine [14], prilikom eksperimentalnog ispitivanja traktora guseničara Cat D7E. Zašto? Prelazak na sistem električne transmisije, kao oblika alternativnog pogona, kod teških traktora guseničara, na primer, Cat D7E, ima značajne prednosti u poređenju sa mehaničkim sistemom prenosa snage kod sličnih modela teških traktora guseničara ili drugih sličnih radnih mašina, koje će biti predstavljene u radu.

    SOIL BIOGENICITY IN THE RHIZOSPHERE OF DIFFERENT WHEAT GENOTYPES UNDER THE IMPACT OF FERTILIZATION TREATMENT

    The rhizosphere is a dynamic environment in which many parameters may influence biogenicity. The important factors determining the microbial community in the rhizosphere are plant and soil nutrient supply. The aim of this paper was to determine the abundance of basic microbiological groups in the rhizosphere of four wheat subspecies, in three fertilization treatments in the organic farming system. A field experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with four replicates. It was carried out on the leached chernozem soil type. There was significant variability in the abundance of the studied physiological groups of microorganisms between the wheat subspecies, as well as between the fertilization treatments. The rhizosphere of common wheat had the greatest abundance of fungi (24.37 x 103 g-1). The rhizosphere of compactum wheat had the largest abundance of oligonitrophilic bacteria (361.47 x 105 g-1) and amonificators (119.27 x 105 g-1). There were no significant differences in the abundance of actinomycetes between the cultivars of common, compactum and durum wheat, but their lowest number was found in the spelt wheat cultivar (11.25 x 103 g-1). The combined application of biofertilizer and organic fertilizer resulted in a significantly greater abundance of amonificators (56.6%), fungi (28.2%) and oligonitrophiles (14.6%) than in the control treatment. The results show that the crop variety and application of appropriate fertilizer formulations can influence the abundance of the studied groups of microorganisms.     Happiness around the world: A combined etic-emic approach across 63 countries.

    What does it mean to be happy? The vast majority of cross-cultural studies on happiness have employed a Western-origin, or "WEIRD" measure of happiness that conceptualizes it as a self-centered (or "independent"), high-arousal emotion. However, research from Eastern cultures, particularly Japan, conceptualizes happiness as including an interpersonal aspect emphasizing harmony and connectedness to others. Following a combined emic-etic approach (Cheung, van de Vijver & Leong, 2011), we assessed the cross-cultural applicability of a measure of independent happiness developed in the US (Subjective Happiness Scale; Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999) and a measure of interdependent happiness developed in Japan (Interdependent Happiness Scale; Hitokoto & Uchida, 2015), with data from 63 countries representing 7 sociocultural regions. Results indicate that the schema of independent happiness was more coherent in more WEIRD countries. In contrast, the coherence of interdependent happiness was unrelated to a country's "WEIRD-ness." Reliabilities of both happiness measures were lowest in African and Middle Eastern countries, suggesting these two conceptualizations of happiness may not be globally comprehensive. Overall, while the two measures had many similar correlates and properties, the self-focused concept of independent happiness is "WEIRD-er" than interdependent happiness, suggesting cross-cultural researchers should attend to both conceptualizations

    The economic well-being of nations is associated with positive daily situational experiences

    People in economically advantaged nations tend to evaluate their life as more positive overall and report greater well-being than people in less advantaged nations. But how does positivity manifest in the daily life experiences of individuals around the world? The present study asked 15,244 college students from 62 nations, in 42 languages, to describe a situation they experienced the previous day using the Riverside Situational Q-sort (RSQ). Using expert ratings, the overall positivity of each situation was calculated for both nations and individuals. The positivity of the average situation in each nation was strongly related to the economic development of the nation as measured by the Human Development Index (HDI). For individuals’ daily experiences, the economic status of their nation also predicted the positivity of their experience, even more than their family socioeconomic status. Further analyses revealed the specific characteristics of the average situations for higher HDI nations that make their experiences more positive. Higher HDI was associated with situational experiences involving humor, socializing with others, and the potential to express emotions and fantasies. Lower HDI was associated with an increase in the presence of threats, blame, and hostility, as well as situational experiences consisting of family, religion, and money. Despite the increase in a few negative situational characteristics in lower HDI countries, the overall average experience still ranged from neutral to slightly positive, rather than negative, suggesting that greater HDI may not necessarily increase positive experiences but rather decrease negative experiences. The results illustrate how national economic status influences the lives of individuals even within a single instance of daily life, with large and powerful consequences when accumulated across individuals within each nation

The response of plants to stress at the molecular level involves the expression of genes that cause the synthesis of the heat shock proteins, which increase the resistance of plants. In laboratory conditions, by using appropriate methods, the accumulation of the heat shock proteins in leaves of potato plants was tested. The markers HSP18, HSP21 and HSP101 representing the group of protective proteins and interacting with denatured proteins, preventing their thermal aggregation as one of the basic molecular mechanisms of plant tolerance to high temperatures were used as potential makers. Based on the obtained results on the expressions of HSP, the cultivars Carrera, Marabel and Desiree may be characterized as highly tolerant to heat stress, while the genotypes Jelly and Laura are relatively tolerant.
