Selection-mutation balance models with epistatic selection
We present an application of birth-and-death processes on configuration spaces to a generalized mutation4 selection balance model. The model describes the aging of population as a process of accumulation of mu5 tations in a genotype. A rigorous treatment demands that mutations correspond to points in abstract spaces. 6 Our model describes an infinite-population, infinite-sites model in continuum. The dynamical equation which 7 describes the system, is of Kimura-Maruyama type. The problem can be posed in terms of evolution of states 8 (differential equation) or, equivalently, represented in terms of Feynman-Kac formula. The questions of interest 9 are the existence of a solution, its asymptotic behavior, and properties of the limiting state. In the non-epistatic 10 case the problem was posed and solved in [Steinsaltz D., Evans S.N., Wachter K.W., Adv. Appl. Math., 2005, 11 35(1)]. Agglomeration mechanism during the preparation of nickel(0) and iron(0) zeolites
Magnetization measurements have been used to study the reduction process of Ni - zeolites and the thermal decomposition of
iron pentacarbonyl adsorbed on NaY zeolites . The Ni(0) particle size distribution in H2»reduced NiNaA, Ni NaX, Ni NaY and
NiNaM is bidisperse. The amount and the volume of particles
exceeding the cage dimensions increases in the sequence Μ,Υ,Χ,Α
zeolites. Particle fusion is found to be the rate determining
step. With decomposition of Fe(C0)5/NaY adducts, up to 97 wt.%
of the iron particles produced are smaller than 1.3 nm. Fluidized
sample bed, inert gas atmosphere and fast heating up to
440 Κ are essential to reach mononodal dispersion

Im Folgenden werden wir drei Wirkungskomplexe beschrieben, in denen die Codierung Veränderungen bewirken kann, wobei es sich - das soll hier nicht verschwiegen werden - um idealtypische Situationsannahmen handelt: Es geht um die Folgen erstens für den Originaltext (das Gedicht), zweitens für das Verstehen (sowohl bei der Codierung als auch bei der Rezeption) und drittens schließlich um mögliche Auswirkungen auf die Wissenschaft. Die Neuerungen für die AutorInnen im Umgang mit digitalen Medien findet keine Berücksichtigung, da jegliche im Projekt behandelten Quellentexte vor der Zeit des digitalen Mediums produziert wurden
Formes de piété individuelles et collectives dans le royaume du Bosphore cimmérien. L’exemple des inscriptions votives
La piété est un acte religieux et fonde la cohésion sociale. Aussi une marque de piété publique peut-elle s’expliquer par beaucoup de raisons, qu’il s’agisse de montrer son appartenance à un groupe social ou de présenter une image de soi. La tradition grecque antique connaissait de nombreux moyens d’exprimer sa piété. La plus individuelle est sans doute l’inscription votive, exposée dans l’espace public. Dans le futur royaume du Bosphore Cimmérien, habité par des colons grecs au VIe s. av. J.-C., des inscriptions votives étaient exposées depuis le IVe siècle. On les considère en général comme un témoignage de la floraison économique du royaume. Mais est-ce seulement faute de moyens financiers que les colons n’ont pas introduit plus tôt la tradition grecque ? Un examen des inscriptions votives et de l’évolution de la religion et des sanctuaires dans le royaume du Bosphore prouve que l’on choisissait très consciemment les moyens d’exprimer sa foi et de se présenter soi-même, conférant ainsi à cette culture un caractère tout à fait particulier

Im 6. Jh. v. Chr. gründeten vorrangig aus Kleinasien stammende griechische Siedler Kolonien entlang der nördlichen Küsten des Schwarzen Meeres, die sich im 5. Jh. v. Chr. unter Einbeziehung einheimischer, der Kulturgruppe der Skythen zugeordneter Stämme zu einem monarchisch regierten Reich zusammenschlossen. Die Arbeit stellt die materiellen und schriftlichen Hinterlassenschaften bosporanischer Heiligtümer und Kulte zusammen und untersucht die Auswirkungen interkulturellen Kontaktes unter religionswissenschaftlichen und soziologischen Gesichtspunkten
ECFA Detector R&D Panel, Review Report
Two special calorimeters are foreseen for the instrumentation of the very
forward region of an ILC or CLIC detector; a luminometer (LumiCal) designed to
measure the rate of low angle Bhabha scattering events with a precision better
than 10 at the ILC and 10 at CLIC, and a low polar-angle
calorimeter (BeamCal). The latter will be hit by a large amount of
beamstrahlung remnants. The intensity and the spatial shape of these
depositions will provide a fast luminosity estimate, as well as determination
of beam parameters. The sensors of this calorimeter must be radiation-hard.
Both devices will improve the e.m. hermeticity of the detector in the search
for new particles. Finely segmented and very compact electromagnetic
calorimeters will match these requirements. Due to the high occupancy, fast
front-end electronics will be needed. Monte Carlo studies were performed to
investigate the impact of beam-beam interactions and physics background
processes on the luminosity measurement, and of beamstrahlung on the
performance of BeamCal, as well as to optimise the design of both calorimeters.
Dedicated sensors, front-end and ADC ASICs have been designed for the ILC and
prototypes are available. Prototypes of sensor planes fully assembled with
readout electronics have been studied in electron beams.Comment: 61 pages, 51 figure
Infrastructure for Detector Research and Development towards the International Linear Collider
The EUDET-project was launched to create an infrastructure for developing and
testing new and advanced detector technologies to be used at a future linear
collider. The aim was to make possible experimentation and analysis of data for
institutes, which otherwise could not be realized due to lack of resources. The
infrastructure comprised an analysis and software network, and instrumentation
infrastructures for tracking detectors as well as for calorimetry.Comment: 54 pages, 48 picture
Performance of the CMS Cathode Strip Chambers with Cosmic Rays
The Cathode Strip Chambers (CSCs) constitute the primary muon tracking device
in the CMS endcaps. Their performance has been evaluated using data taken
during a cosmic ray run in fall 2008. Measured noise levels are low, with the
number of noisy channels well below 1%. Coordinate resolution was measured for
all types of chambers, and fall in the range 47 microns to 243 microns. The
efficiencies for local charged track triggers, for hit and for segments
reconstruction were measured, and are above 99%. The timing resolution per
layer is approximately 5 ns
