Statistics of Q-Oscillators, Quons and Relation to Fractional Satistics
The statistics of -oscillators, quons and to some extent, of anyons are
studied and the basic differences among these objects are pointed out. In
particular, the statistical distributions for different bosonic and fermionic
-oscillators are found for their corresponding Fock space representations in
the case when the hamiltonian is identified with the number operator. In this
case and for nonrelativistic particles, the single-particle temperature Green
function is defined with -deformed periodicity conditions. The equations of
state for nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic bosonic -gases in an
arbitrary space dimension are found near Bose statistics, as well as the one
for an anyonic gas near Bose and Fermi statistics. The first corrections to the
second virial coefficients are also evaluated. The phenomenon of Bose-Einstein
condensation in the -deformed gases is also discussed.Comment: 21 pages, Latex, HU-TFT-93-2
Multi Parametric Deformed Heisenberg Algebras: A Route to Complexity
We introduce a generalization of the Heisenberg algebra which is written in
terms of a functional of one generator of the algebra, , that can be
any analytical function. When is linear with slope , we show that
the algebra in this case corresponds to -oscillators for . The case where is a polynomial of order in corresponds
to a -parameter deformed Heisenberg algebra. The representations of the
algebra, when is any analytical function, are shown to be obtained through
the study of the stability of the fixed points of and their composed
functions. The case when is a quadratic polynomial in , the simplest
non-linear scheme which is able to create chaotic behavior, is analyzed in
detail and special regions in the parameter space give representations that
cannot be continuously deformed to representations of Heisenberg algebra.Comment: latex, 17 pages, 5 PS figures; to be published in J. Phys. A: Math

Health-related qualify of life, angina type and coronary artery disease in patients with stable chest pain
Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is impaired in patients with stable angina but patients often present with other forms of chest pain. The aim of this study was to compare the pre-diagnostic HRQoL in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) according to angina type, gender, and presence of obstructive CAD. Methods: From the pilot study for the European DISCHARGE trial, we analysed data from 24 sites including 1263 patients (45.9% women, 61.1 ± 11.3 years) who were clinically referred for invasive coronary angiography (ICA; 617 patients) or coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA; 646 patients). Prior to the procedures, patients completed HRQoL questionnaires: the Short Form (SF)-12v2, the EuroQoL (EQ-5D-3 L) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Results: Fifty-five percent of ICA and 35% of CTA patients had typical angina, 23 and 33% had atypical angina, 18 and 28% had non-anginal chest discomfort and 5 and 5% had other chest discomfort, respectively. Patients with typical angina had the poorest physical functioning compared to the other angina groups (SF-12 physical component score; 41.2 ± 8.8, 43.3 ± 9.1, 46.2 ± 9.0, 46.4 ± 11.4, respectively, all age and gender-adjusted p < 0.01), and highest anxiety levels (8.3 ± 4.1, 7.5 ± 4.1, 6.5 ± 4.0, 4.7 ± 4.5, respectively, all adjusted p < 0.01). On all other measures, patients with typical or atypical angina had lower HRQoL compared to the two other groups (all adjusted p < 0.05). HRQoL did not differ between patients with and without obstructive CAD while women had worse HRQoL compared with men, irrespective of age and angina type. Conclusions: Prior to a diagnostic procedure for stable chest pain, HRQoL is associated with chest pain characteristics, but not with obstructive CAD, and is significantly lower in women. Constraints on jet quenching in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV measured by the event-activity dependence of semi-inclusive hadron-jet distributions
CNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFINEP - FINANCIADORA DE ESTUDOS E PROJETOSFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOThe ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high-transverse momentum trigger hadron in p-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02TeV. Jets are reconstructed from charged-particle tracks using the anti-k(T) algorithm with resolution parameter R = 0.2 and 0.4. A data-driven statistical approach is used to correct the uncorrelated background jet yield. Recoil jet distributions are reported for jet transverse momentum 15 < p(T,jet)(ch) < 50 GeV/c and are compared in various intervals of p-Pb event activity, based on charged-particle multiplicity and zero-degree neutral energy in the forward (Pb-going) direction. The semi-inclusive observable is self-normalized and such comparisons do not require the interpretation of p-Pb event activity in terms of collision geometry, in contrast to inclusive jet observables. These measurements provide new constraints on the magnitude of jet quenching in small systems at the LHC. In p-Pb collisions with high event activity, the average medium-induced out-of-cone energy transport for jets with R = 0.4 and 15 < p(T,jet)(ch) < 50 GeV/c is measured to be less than 0.4 GeV/c at 90% confidence, which is over an order of magnitude smaller than a similar measurement for central Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV. Comparison is made to theoretical calculations of jet quenching in small systems, and to inclusive jet measurements in p-Pb collisions selected by event activity at the LHC and in d-Au collisions at RHIC.78395113CNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFINEP - FINANCIADORA DE ESTUDOS E PROJETOSFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOCNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOFINEP - FINANCIADORA DE ESTUDOS E PROJETOSFAPESP - FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULOSem informaçãoSem informaçãoSem informaçãoAgências de fomento estrangeiras apoiaram essa pesquisa, mais informações acesse artig
Inclusive J/ψ production at forward and backward rapidity in p-Pb collisions at √sNN=8.16 TeV
Inclusive J/psi production is studied in p-Pb interactions at a centre-of-mass
energy per nucleon-nucleon collision sqrt(s_NN) = 8.16TeV, using the ALICE detector at the
CERN LHC. The J/psi meson is reconstructed, via its decay to a muon pair, in the centre-of-mass
rapidity intervals 2.03 < ycms < 3.53 and -4.46 < ycms < -2.96, where positive
and negative ycms refer to the p-going and Pb-going direction, respectively. The transverse
momentum coverage is pT < 20 GeV/c. In this paper, ycms- and pT-differential cross
sections for inclusive J/psi production are presented, and the corresponding nuclear modification
factors RpPb are shown. Forward results show a suppression of the J/psi yield with
respect to pp collisions, concentrated in the region pT < 5 GeV/c. At backward rapidity
no significant suppression is observed. The results are compared to previous measurements
by ALICE in p-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 5.02TeV and to theoretical calculations. Finally,
the ratios RFB between forward- and backward-ycms RpPb values are shown and discussed
Energy dependence and fluctuations of anisotropic flow in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN=5.02 and 2.76 TeV
Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients with two- and multi-particle cumulants
for inclusive charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 5.02 and 2.76TeV
are reported in the pseudorapidity range |eta|< 0.8 and transverse momentum 0.2 < pT <
50 GeV/c. The full data sample collected by the ALICE detector in 2015 (2010), corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 12.7 (2.0) ub^-1 in the centrality range 0-80%,
is analysed. Flow coefficients up to the sixth flow harmonic (v6) are reported and a detailed
comparison among results at the two energies is carried out. The pT dependence
of anisotropic flow coefficients and its evolution with respect to centrality and harmonic
number n are investigated. An approximate power-law scaling of the form vn(pT) ~ pT^(n/3)
is observed for all flow harmonics at low pT (0.2 < pT < 3 GeV/c). At the same time, the
ratios vn/vm^(n/m) are observed to be essentially independent of pT for most centralities up to
about pT = 10 GeV/c. Analysing the differences among higher-order cumulants of elliptic flow (v2),
which have different sensitivities to flow fluctuations, a measurement of the standardised
skewness of the event-by-event v2 distribution P(v2) is reported and constraints
on its higher moments are provided. The Elliptic Power distribution is used to parametrise
P(v2), extracting its parameters from fits to cumulants. The measurements are compared
to different model predictions in order to discriminate among initial-state models and to
constrain the temperature dependence of the shear viscosity to entropy-density ratio
The additional value of patient-reported health status in predicting 1-year mortality after invasive coronary procedures: A report from the Euro Heart Survey on Coronary Revascularisation
Objective: Self-perceived health status may be helpful in identifying patients at high risk for adverse outcomes. The Euro Heart Survey on Coronary Revascularization (EHS-CR) provided an opportunity to explore whether impaired health status was a predictor of 1-year mortality in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) undergoing angiographic procedures. Methods: Data from the EHS-CR that included 5619 patients from 31 member countries of the European Society of Cardiology were used. Inclusion criteria for the current study were completion of a self-report measure of health status, the EuroQol Questionnaire (EQ-5D) at discharge and information on 1-year follow-up, resulting in a study population of 3786 patients. Results: The 1-year mortality was 3.2% (n = 120). Survivors reported fewer problems on the five dimensions of the EQ-5D as compared with non-survivors. A broad range of potential confounders were adjusted for, which reached a p<0.10 in the unadjusted analyses. In the adjusted analyses, problems with self-care (OR 3.45; 95% CI 2.14 to 5.59) and a low rating (≤ 60) on health status (OR 2.41; 95% CI 1.47 to 3.94) were the most powerful independent predictors of mortality, among the 22 clinical variables included in the analysis. Furthermore, patients who reported no problems on all five dimensions had significantly lower 1-year mortality rates (OR 0.47; 95% CI 0.28 to 0.81). Conclusions: This analysis shows that impaired health status is associated with a 2-3-fold increased risk of all-cause mortality in patients with CAD, independent of other conventional risk factors. These results highlight the importance of including patients' subjective experience of their own health status in the evaluation strategy to optimise risk stratification and management in clinical practice

Search for a common baryon source in high-multiplicity pp collisions at the LHC
We report on the measurement of the size of the particle-emitting source from two-baryon correlations with ALICE in high-multiplicity pp collisions at s=13 TeV. The source radius is studied with low relative momentum p–p, p‾–p‾, p–Λ, and p‾–Λ‾ pairs as a function of the pair transverse mass mT considering for the first time in a quantitative way the effect of strong resonance decays. After correcting for this effect, the radii extracted for pairs of different particle species agree. This indicates that protons, antiprotons, Λ s, and Λ‾ s originate from the same source. Within the measured mT range (1.1–2.2) GeV/c2the invariant radius of this common source varies between 1.3 and 0.85 fm. These results provide a precise reference for studies of the strong hadron–hadron interactions and for the investigation of collective properties in small colliding systems. © 2020 CERN for the benefit of the ALICE CollaborationPeer reviewe
