Trabalhando a educação em saúde na perspectiva das novas escolas de medicina: experiência no centro de testagem e aconselhamento DST - AIDS, Imperatriz - MA: Working on health education from the perspective of new schools of medicine: experience in the STD - AIDS testing and counseling center, Imperatriz - MA

Introdução: De acordo com a Lei Orgânica da Saúde, a assistência à saúde pelo SUS deve abranger tanto as ações assistenciais ou curativas quanto as atividades de promoção da saúde e prevenção de doenças. Nesse aspecto, a abordagem do profissional de saúde não deve se restringir à assistência curativa, buscando dimensionar fatores de risco à saúde e, por conseguinte, a execução de ações preventivas. Objetivos: Demonstrar a importância da educação em saúde, pontuar as diretrizes que regem o funcionamento do Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento DST/AIDS. Descrição da Experiência: A visita ao Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento (CTA) propiciou conhecer a real importância do processo de educação em saúde, bem como, a relevância dos meios de prevenção, aconselhamento e tratamento de Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis. Ficou evidente a possibilidade de os serviços oferecidos pelo Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento atenderem todo e qualquer cidadão que possuam dúvidas em relação ao seu status sorológico, bem como, a pacientes soropositivos que necessitam de acompanhamento. Resultados: Diante da observação do funcionamento do Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento ficou evidenciado sua relevância nos processos de prevenção e educação em saúde, no entanto, uma maior abrangência dos serviços de prevenção e acompanhamento para a população, não se torna possível, pois, nem todos os portadores de DST e AIDS procuram os serviços oferecidos pelo programa, ou mesmo a Unidade Básica de Saúde. Uma vez que o a oferta do serviço de Teste sorológico e aconselhamento é permeada por prerrogativa éticas, e um dos critérios para que o cidadão possa realizar o exame anti HIV é a voluntariedade desta decisão. Conclusão: A experiência vivenciada nos proporcionou uma visão mais abrangente dos processos de educação em saúde, sua importância, alcance e aplicabilidade, assim como permitiu aos alunos visualizar os entraves que impossibilitam uma cobertura plena à população dos serviços oferecidos, sendo estes no âmbito da saúde pública ou individual. Ficou evidente, que um dos desafios para a consolidação de um cuidado qualificado na prevenção em DST/AIDS no contexto do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) está na sustentação do comprometimento entre as esferas políticas e governamentais em prover recursos materiais e profissionais capacitados e motivados para trabalhar com as questões que envolvem este tema

The influence of submarine groundwater discharges on subtidal meiofauna assemblages in south Portugal (Algarve)

Submarine groundwater discharges (SGD) have been documented as contributing to the biological productivity of coastal areas, through a bottom-up support to higher trophic levels. Nevertheless, the effects on the bottom levels of the coastal food web, namely the meiofauna, are still very poorly known. The “Olhos de Água” beach is the only area on the South coast of Portugal where submarine freshwater seepages have been identified. In this study, meiofauna assemblages in the area impacted by SGD were compared with the meiofauna from a similar area, but without SGD. Samples were taken in Spring and Summer 2011, under different hydrological regimes, aquifer recharge (after Winter) and dryness (after Spring), respectively. The major changes in the community were recorded at a seasonal level, with higher abundances and number of taxa in Spring, when compared to Summer. This may be explained by better sediment aeration during spring along with higher food availability from the sedimentation of spring phytoplankton blooms. Although no significant differences were detected by multivariate analysis on the meiofauna abundances between Control and Impact areas, pair-wise tests on the interactions between factors in number of taxa (S) and species richness (Margalef's d) suggested that the discharge of groundwater stimulated an increase in meiofauna diversity. Such effect can be observed between the meiofauna assemblages from impacted and control areas and also between periods with different discharge regimes (Spring and Summer) in the impacted area. These findings highlight the role that freshwater discharges from coastal aquifers have on meiofauna assemblages and suggest that SGD contribute to enhance the transfer of energy from the lower levels of the trophic web to upper levels

Estimating the p-mode frequencies of the solar twin 18 Sco

Solar twins have been a focus of attention for more than a decade, because their structure is extremely close to that of the Sun. Today, thanks to high-precision spectrometers, it is possible to use asteroseismology to probe their interiors. Our goal is to use time series obtained from the HARPS spectrometer to extract the oscillation frequencies of 18 Sco, the brightest solar twin. We used the tools of spectral analysis to estimate these quantities. We estimate 52 frequencies using an MCMC algorithm. After examination of their probability densities and comparison with results from direct MAP optimization, we obtain a minimal set of 21 reliable modes. The identification of each pulsation mode is straightforwardly accomplished by comparing to the well-established solar pulsation modes. We also derived some basic seismic indicators using these values. These results offer a good basis to start a detailed seismic analysis of 18 Sco using stellar models.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, to be published in A&

Abordagem terapêutica de corpo estranho em lactente no interior do Amazonas com manifestações gastrointestinais pelo COVID-19: um relato de caso

A ingestão de corpo estranho (CE) ocorre na faixa etária pediátrica, sendo que 75% ocorrem entre 6 meses a 3 anos, na fase oral, em sua grande maioria é um evento acidental. Objetos pequenos tem a tendência de atravessar todo o trato digestivo sem causar danos e acabam sendo expelidos pelas fezes, por outro lado, objetos grandes e pontiagudos podem obstruir ou perfurar, ocasionando complicações. Objetivamos relatar este caso, no qual a abordagem cirúrgica foi a escolha terapêutica, sendo o abdome agudo perfurativo o desfecho no pós-operatório. Concomitantemente os sintomas iniciais apresentados pela criança podem estar associados à infecção secundária ao Sars-CoV-2 com manifestações gastrointestinais

Perfil Socioeconômico, Demográfico e Clínico de Crianças Atendidas em um Serviço de Referência em Neurodesenvolvimento no Município de Vitória de Santo Antão- PE / Socioeconomic, Demographic and Clinical Profile of Children Attended at a Neurodevelopmental Reference Service in the Municipality of Vitória de Santo Antão-PE

Objetivo: conhecer o perfil socioeconômico, demográfico e clínico das crianças atendidas em um serviço de referência no atendimento à criança com atraso no neurodesenvolvimento. Método: trata-se de pesquisa exploratória descritiva do tipo documental e retrospectiva com abordagem quantitativa, realizada no Núcleo de Assistência Multidisciplinar ao Neurodesenvolvimento Infantil (NAMNI) da Associação de Proteção a Maternidade e a Infância da Vitória de Santo Antão – APAMI Vitória. A amostra foi composta por todas as crianças atendidas no serviço (n=194). Utilizou-se um instrumento estruturado e preenchido através do prontuário e de fichas cadastrais. Resultados: verificou-se que a maioria das famílias possuía renda mensal de até um salário mínimo. Notou-se que a maioria dos responsáveis possui ensino médio completo. Entre as crianças, o principal diagnóstico foi o Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA). Conclusão: pôde-se concluir que o perfil socioeconômico dos pacientes atendidos no núcleo é predominantemente de baixa renda, com nível médio de escolaridade e que não pode pagar por um tratamento particular

Aqueous extract of Swietenia macrophylla leaf exerts an anti-inflammatory effect in a murine model of Parkinson’s disease induced by 6-OHDA

IntroductionParkinson’s disease affects 2% of the population aged over 65 years and is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder in the general population. The appearance of motor symptoms is associated with the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the nigrostriatal pathway. Clinically significant nonmotor symptoms are also important for severe disability with disease progression. Pharmacological treatment with levodopa, which involves dopamine restitution, results in a temporary improvement in motor symptoms. Among the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of the disease are exacerbated oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroinflammation. A phytochemical prospecting study showed that the aqueous extract of the leaves from Swietenia macrophylla (Melineaceae), known as mahogany, has polyphenols with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity in a significantly higher percentage than leaf extracts from other Amazonian plants. Furthermore, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of aqueous extract of mahogany leaf has already been demonstrated in an in vitro model. In this study, we hypothesized that the aqueous extract of mahogany leaf (AEML) has a neuroprotective effect in a murine model of Parkinson’s disease induced by 6-hydroxidopamine (6-OHDA), due to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of its phenolic compounds.MethodsMice were treated daily with the mahogany extract at a dose of 50 mg/kg, starting 7 days before 6-OHDA infusion until post-surgery day 7.Results and discussionThe animals from the 6-OHDA/mahogany group, which corresponds to animals injected with the toxin and treated with aqueous extract of the mahogany leaf, presented distinct behavioral phenotypes after apomorphine challenge and were therefore subdivided into 2 groups, 6-OHDA/mahogany F1 and 6-OHDA/mahogany F2. The F1 group showed a significant increase in contralateral rotations, whereas the F2 group did not show rotations after the apomorphine stimulus. In the F1 group, there was an increase, although not significant, in motor performance in the open field and elevated plus maze tests, whereas in the F2 group, there was significant improvement, which may be related to the lesser degree of injury to the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway. The TH+ histopathological analysis, a dopaminergic neuron marker, confirmed that the lesion to the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway was more pronounced in 6-OHDA/mahogany F1 than in 6-OHDA/mahogany F2. Our main result consisted of signs of improvement in the inflammatory profile in both the F1 and F2 6-OHDA/mahogany groups, such as a lower number of IBA-1+ microglial cells in the ventral striatum and substantia nigra pars compacta and a reduction in GFAP+ expression, an astrocyte marker, in the dorsal striatum. In this study, several bioactive compounds in the aqueous extract of mahogany leaf may have contributed to the observed beneficial effects. Further studies are necessary to better characterize their applicability for treating chronic degenerative diseases with inflammatory and oxidative bases, such as Parkinson’s disease
