Anthocyanin composition and related pigments in strawberry
The anthocyanin composition of the strawberry has been object of various studies, but it is still not fully characterized. Single-molecule photobleaching probes the exciton wave function in a multichromophoric system
Ajuts: This work has been supported by the EC Program IHP- 99 (HPMF-CT-2002-01698)The exciton wave function of a trichromophoric system is investigated by means of single molecule spectroscopy at room temperature. Individual trimers exhibit superradiance and loss of vibronic structure in emission spectrum, features proving exciton delocalization. We identify two distinct photodegradation pathways for single trimers upon sequential photobleaching of the chromophores. The rate of each pathway is a measure for the contribution of the separate dyes to the collective excited state of the system, in this way probing the wave function of the delocalized exciton
Signals of Bose Einstein condensation and Fermi quenching in the decay of hot nuclear systems
We report experimental signals of Bose-Einstein condensation in the decay of
hot Ca projectile-like sources produced in mid-peripheral collisions at
sub-Fermi energies. The experimental setup, constituted by the coupling of the
INDRA 4 detector array to the forward angle VAMOS magnetic spectrometer,
allowed us to reconstruct the mass, charge and excitation energy of the
decaying hot projectile-like sources. Furthermore, by means of quantum
fluctuation analysis techniques, temperatures and mean volumes per particle "as
seen by" bosons and fermions separately are correlated to the excitation energy
of the reconstructed system. The obtained results are consistent with the
production of dilute mixed (bosons/fermions) systems, where bosons experience a
smaller volume as compared to the surrounding fermionic gas. Our findings
recall similar phenomena observed in the study of boson condensates in atomic

Hidrogenionic potential (pH) of the attractant, trap density and control threshold for Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: tephritidae) on Hamlin oranges in SĂŁo Paulo central region, Brazil
This study evaluated the effect of initial pH values of 4.5, 6.5 and 8.5 of the attractant
(protein bait) Milhocina® and borax (sodium borate) in the feld, on the capture of fruit flies in McPhail
traps, using 1, 2, 4 and 8 traps per hectare, in order to estimate control thresholds in a Hamlin orange grove
in the central region of the state of São Paulo. The most abundant fruit fly species was Ceratitis capitata,
comprising almost 99% of the fruit flies captured, of which 80% were females. The largest captures of C.
capitata were found in traps baited with Milhocina® and borax at pH 8.5. Captures per trap for the four
densities were similar, indicating that the population can be estimated with one trap per hectare in areas
with high populations. It was found positive relationships between captures of C. capitata and the number
of Hamlin oranges damaged, 2 and 3 weeks after capture. It was obtained equations that correlate captures
and damage levels which can be used to estimate control thresholds. The average loss caused in Hamlin
orange fruits by C. capitata was 2.5 tons per hectare or 7.5% of production.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivos: avaliar o efeito do pH inicial, 4.5; 6.5 e 8.5, do atrativo
proteico Milhocina® e bórax (tetraborato de sódio) na captura de moscas-das-frutas em armadilhas McPhail;
estudar densidades de armadilhas, 1; 2; 4 e 8 por hectare, para estimar nĂveis de controle em laranja cv.
Hamlin, na região central de São Paulo. A espécie predominante, com 99% das moscas-das-frutas capturadas,
foi Ceratitis capitata, sendo 80% de fĂŞmeas. As maiores capturas de C. capitata ocorreram nas armadilhas
com Milhocina® e bórax em pH 8.5. As capturas, nas 4 densidades, foram semelhantes, indicando que a
população pode ser estimada com uma armadilha por hectare em áreas de altas populações. Houve relações
positivas entre capturas de C. capitata e o nĂşmero de frutos danificados, 2 e 3 semanas apĂłs a captura. Assim,
foram obtidas equações que relacionam a captura e o dano, possibilitando estimar nĂveis de controle desse
inseto. As perdas médias causadas por C. capitata em laranja cv. Hamlin chegaram a 2,5 toneladas de frutos

Bimodality: a possible experimental signature of the liquid-gas phase transition of nuclear matter
We have observed a bimodal behaviour of the distribution of the asymmetry
between the charges of the two heaviest products resulting from the decay of
the quasi-projectile released in binary Xe+Sn and Au+Au collisions from 60 to
100 MeV/u. Event sorting has been achieved through the transverse energy of
light charged particles emitted on the quasi-target side, thus avoiding
artificial correlations between the bimodality signal and the sorting variable.
Bimodality is observed for intermediate impact parameters for which the
quasi-projectile is identified. A simulation shows that the deexcitation step
rather than the geometry of the collision appears responsible for the bimodal
behaviour. The influence of mid-rapidity emission has been verified. The two
bumps of the bimodal distribution correspond to different excitation energies
and similar temperatures. It is also shown that it is possible to correlate the
bimodality signal with a change in the distribution of the heaviest fragment
charge and a peak in potential energy fluctuations. All together, this set of
data is coherent with what would be expected in a finite system if the
corresponding system in the thermodynamic limit exhibits a first order phase

Isospin transport in 84Kr + 112,124Sn collisions at Fermi energies
Isotopically resolved fragments with Z<=20 have been studied with high
resolution telescopes in a test run for the FAZIA collaboration. The fragments
were produced by the collision of a 84Kr beam at 35 MeV/nucleon with a n-rich
(124Sn) and a n-poor (112Sn) target. The fragments, detected close to the
grazing angle, are mainly emitted from the phase-space region of the
projectile. The fragment isotopic content clearly depends on the n-richness of
the target and it is a direct evidence of isospin diffusion between projectile
and target. The observed enhanced neutron richness of light fragments emitted
from the phase-space region close to the center of mass of the system can be
interpreted as an effect of isospin drift in the diluted neck region.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figure
Estimate of average freeze-out volume in multifragmentation events
An estimate of the average freeze-out volume for multifragmentation events is
presented. Values of volumes are obtained by means of a simulation using the
experimental charged product partitions measured by the 4pi multidetector INDRA
for 129Xe central collisions on Sn at 32 AMeV incident energy. The input
parameters of the simulation are tuned by means of the comparison between the
experimental and simulated velocity (or energy) spectra of particles and
