Received: February 28th, 2021 ; Accepted: May 8th, 2021 ; Published: May 12th, 2021 ; Correspondence: [email protected] to assess the breeding samples of soft winter wheat by weight of grain from the main ear anddetermine the indicators of adaptability were conducted at the Bila Tserkva Research and Selection Station (BTRSS) in 2011–2013. The study revealed significant differences in breeding lines in the range of variability of grain mass from the main ear and identified small, medium and significantcoefficients of variation, which indicates their excellent response to environmental conditions. It was due to genotype, year conditions and their interaction. Line 42 KS had significantly higher than the standard grain weight of the main ear (0.14 g) and the lowest value of the coefficient of variation (8.7%). According to the indicators of adaptability(GAC, σ²(GxE)gi, σ²SACi, σSACi, etc.) the lines 42 KS, 24 KS and 44 KS were distinguished. There was asignificant correlation between the weight of grain from the ear and the weight of 1,000 grains (0.603–0.674) and the direct influence of the weight of grain from the main ear on the weight of grain from the plantand grain yield (0.805–0.942). Selected lines as a result of research (2015–2020) from these populations of soft winter wheat are competitively tested in the conditions of Bila Tserkva Research and Selection Station, forming high grain yields (7.39–8.12 t ha-1 ) and will be transferred to 2021 for the State variety test for inclusion in the Register of plant varieties suitable for distribution in Ukraine

    Emerging CO2 capture systems

    Get PDF
In 2005, the IPCC SRCCS recognized the large potential for developing and scaling up a wide range of emerging CO2 capture technologies that promised to deliver lower energy penalties and cost. These included new energy conversion technologies such as chemical looping and novel capture systems based on the use of solid sorbents or membrane-based separation systems. In the last 10 years, a substantial body of scientific and technical literature on these topics has been produced from a large number of R&D projects worldwide, trying to demonstrate these concepts at increasing pilot scales, test and model the performance of key components at bench scale, investigate and develop improved functional materials, optimize the full process schemes with a view to a wide range of industrial applications, and to carry out more rigorous cost studies etc. This paper presents a general and critical review of the state of the art of these emerging CO2 capture technologies paying special attention to specific process routes that have undergone a substantial increase in technical readiness level toward the large scales required by any CO2 capture system

Formation of a gastronomic brand of a tourist destination on the example of Odesa region

In today's world, tourism is becoming more and more popular, and people are becoming more and more discerning about their travels. Accordingly, regions that want to attract tourists must develop not only tourist infrastructure, but also create a unique gastronomic brand. Odesa region is one of the examples when the successful formation of a gastronomic brand of a tourist destination can become a key element in the development of tourism

A zeolite family with expanding structural complexity and embedded isoreticular structures

Among porous solids, this has been achieved for metal–organic frameworks1, 2, 3, but not for the more widely applicable zeolites4, 5, where new materials are usually discovered using exploratory synthesis. Although millions of hypothetical zeolite structures have been proposed6, 7, not enough is known about their synthesis mechanism to allow any given structure to be prepared. Here we present an approach that combines structure solution with structure prediction, and inspires the targeted synthesis of new super-complex zeolites. We used electron diffraction to identify a family of related structures and to discover the structural ‘coding’ within them. This allowed us to determine the complex, and previously unknown, structure of zeolite ZSM-25 (ref. 8), which has the largest unit-cell volume of all known zeolites (91,554 cubic ångströms) and demonstrates selective CO2 adsorption. By extending our method, we were able to predict other members of a family of increasingly complex, but structurally related, zeolites and to synthesize two more-complex zeolites in the family, PST-20 and PST-25, with much larger cell volumes (166,988 and 275,178 cubic ångströms, respectively) and similar selective adsorption properties. Members of this family have the same symmetry, but an expanding unit cell, and are related by hitherto unrecognized structural principles; we call these family members embedded isoreticular zeolite structures.PostprintPostprintPeer reviewe

Novel potential of pancreatic-like enzymes of microbial origin in exocrine pancreatic insufficiency - study on a pig model

    No full text
Introduction. The standard porcine-derived pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) is a lifesaving treatment for patients with diseases causing exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). An attempt to replace PERT with microbial enzymes were undertaken. The aim was to highlight whether the mode of application, mixed with food or applied directly to the stomach, of pancreatic-like enzymes of microbial origin (PLEM) can affect their activity along the gastrointestinal tract. Materials and method. The activity of amylase, lipase and proteinase in the stomach, duodenum and ileum were tested in EPI pigs (n=6) after supplementation of PLEM, either orally – before and during feed consumption – or via the stomach – before and during feed consumption. Healthy pigs not treated with PLEM (n=3) served as controls. Activity of the enzymes measured in the chyme were obtained together with the digesta pH. Activity of the enzymatic residues in the stool samples was also checked. Results. The highest pancreatic enzyme activities were found in the duodenum of the healthy pigs (amylase 162,68 kU/ mL, lipase 507,34 kU/mL and protolitic (trypsin) activity 357,60 kU/mL). Nevertheless, the microbial enzymes remained also active along the entire length of the GIT – including stomach in EPI pigs, regardless of their route of administration. However, activity level was significantly lower. Discussion. Results indicate that the activity pattern of PLEM in the small intestine mimics the activity of the natural endogenous pancreatic enzymes in healthy pigs. The most physiological features of PLEM were observed when enzymes were offered orally. The magnitude of PLEM activity in the stomach of EPI pigs was essential and significantly higher than that measured in healthy pigs, thus being somewhat not physiological, and for health reasons of the patients should be further explored. Interestingly, specific trypsin-like activity was measured in all parts of the GIT after PLEM application. However, proteolytic activity of the experimental proteaze in in vitro studies did not exhibit trypsin-like activity

Engineering geological map of the Chiavari city area (Liguria, Italy)

An engineering geological map at a scale of 1:10,000 of the Chiavari city area (Northern Italy) – a major tourist and economic attraction of the Ligurian East Riviera – is presented in this paper. The municipality land shows an excellent geomorphological case-study of the well-known Ligurian coast: a floodplain, fairly wide and inhabited, formed by several floods of the two main rivers, a hill hinterland, reasonably inhabited, developed in marly limestones and sandy shales flysch and the coast – featuring cliffs and narrow pebbly beaches – deeply modified. This map was compiled by combining available geological data with a new engineering geomorphological field survey and including geotechnical data which were obtained from studies carried out for town planning and building purposes. On the basis of the critical review of the available lithostratigraphic data from drilling, as well as geotechnical and geophysical analyses carried out between 1981 and 2010 on the municipality land, an engineering geologica..
