La fiabilidad de productos (con propiedades mejoradas, si fuera necesario) y sus características ecológicas, juntos con la preparación de información técnica actualizada, son, en cualquier caso, algunos de los principales factores que pueden garantizar un aumento del empleo de madera de chopo en usos no tradicionales.________________________________After a brief introduction on the importance of poplar for both the environment and the woodindustry system, the current common uses of poplar wood are discussed, with particular reference to the production of plywood, which is by far the most important and remunerative destination for the best raw material resulting from intensive poplar cultivation. Plywood can be considered a “mature” product both in terms of development (efficiency levels, yields and productivity) and of market (at the moment plywood is also suffering from the competition of new kinds of panels). From a technical point of view, possible innovations are strictly related to the ability to find new uses and new products, possibly with value added figures. In this frame, the building sector seems to offer new possibilities, also thanks to the renewed interest for wood and wood-based products. Another possible destination for poplar wood could be the production of glue-laminated timber. A quite complete research was done in Italy on this subject, which included the possibility of mixing poplar with other species (in particular eucalypt and larch). Details are given on the results obtained. In the building sector, beyond the possibility of using purposely-produced plywood, Poplar wood could also be a very good raw-material for the production of “engineered panels” (LVL, OSB). In conclusion, poplar wood is surely suitable also for use in other sectors. The reliability of products (with improved properties, if necessary) and their ecological characteristics, together with the preparation of updated technical information, are, in any case, among the main factors that can guarantee an increase of the use of poplar wood in nontraditional applications

In this paper, we study the random dynamical system fωnf_\omega^n generated by a family of maps {fω0:S1S1}ω[ε,ε],\{f_{\omega_0}: \mathbb S^1 o \mathbb S^1\}_{\omega \in [-\varepsilon,\varepsilon]}, $f_{\omega_0}(x) = \alpha \xi (x+\omega_0) +a\ (\mathrm{mod }\ 1),where where \xi: \mathbb S^1 o \mathbb Risanondegeneratedmap, is a non-degenerated map, a\in \mathbb S^1,, \alpha,\varepsilon>0.Fixingaconstant. Fixing a constant c\in (0,1),weshowthatfor, we show that for \alphasufficientlylargeand sufficiently large and \varepsilon > \alpha^{-1+c},therandomdynamicalsystem the random dynamical system f_\omega^n$ presents a random Young tower structure and quenched decay of correlations.Comment: 38 pages, 0 figure

Interface reconstruction in superconducting CaCuO2/SrTiO3 superlattices: A hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study

Here we report about the interface reconstruction in the recently discovered superconducting artificial superlattices based on insulating CaCuO2 and SrTiO3 blocks. Hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that the valence bands alignment prevents any electronic reconstruction by direct charge transfer between the two blocks. We demonstrate that the electrostatic built-in potential is suppressed by oxygen redistribution in the alkaline earth interface planes. By using highly oxidizing growth conditions, the oxygen coordination in the reconstructed interfaces may be increased, resulting in the hole doping of the cuprate block and thus in the appearance of superconductivity.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure

Defining a roadmap for harmonizing quality indicators in Laboratory Medicine: A consensus statement on behalf of the IFCC Working Group "laboratory Error and Patient Safety" and EFLM Task and Finish Group "performance specifications for the extra-analytical phases"

The improving quality of laboratory testing requires a deep understanding of the many vulnerable steps involved in the total examination process (TEP), along with the identification of a hierarchy of risks and challenges that need to be addressed. From this perspective, the Working Group “Laboratory Errors and Patient Safety” (WG-LEPS) of International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) is focusing its activity on implementation of an efficient tool for obtaining meaningful information on the risk of errors developing throughout the TEP, and for establishing reliable information about error frequencies and their distribution. More recently, the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) has created the Task and Finish Group “Performance specifications for the extraanalytical phases” (TFG-PSEP) for defining performance specifications for extra-analytical phases. Both the IFCC and EFLM groups are working to provide laboratories with a system to evaluate their performances and recognize the critical aspects where improvement actions are needed. A Consensus Conference was organized in Padova, Italy, in 2016 in order to bring together all the experts and interested parties to achieve a consensus for effective harmonization of quality indicators (QIs). A general agreement was achieved and the main outcomes have been the release of a new version of model of quality indicators (MQI), the approval of a criterion for establishing performance specifications and the definition of the type of information that should be provided within the report to the clinical laboratories participating to the QIs project

Experimental investigation of non-linear wave to plasma interaction in a quasi-flat magnetostatic field

Get PDF
A characterization of wave-to-plasma interaction in a quasi-flat magnetostatic field at 3.75 GHz has been carried out by using a small-wire movable RF antenna, connected to a spectrum analyzer. The coupling between electromagnetic and electrostatic waves leads to a characteristic spectral emission in low frequency range and around the pumping wave frequency. The most relevant results consist in the broadening of the pumping wave spectrum above critical RF power thresholds and in the generation of sidebands of the pumping frequency, with corresponding components in low frequency domain. The non-linearities are accompanied by the generation of overdense plasmas and intense fluxes of X-rays
