    Viewed from the way the message is sent, nouns (or NPs) contain some kind of packaging which determines their status. NPs may have status as given or new, as a focus of contrast, as definite or indefinite, as the subject of its sentence, as the topic, and as a point of view. NPs status as definite or indefinite being discussed has a close relationship with its status as given or new, since a given NP is obligatorily a definite NP (although a new NP is not always an indefinite one). In languages such as English and French, definiteness is formally marked by (definite/indefinite) articles, namely the and a (exceptionally for English generic and plural indefinite NPs). In Indonesian, since its articles (si, sang, etc.) behave differently, definiteness is showed by some markers: definite markers after the NP (-nya, itu, ini, tersebut, tadi, and the structure with yang) and indefinite markers before the NP (seorang, sebuah, beberapa). Nevertheless, those markers are not strictly usednot alt NPs in Indonesian must be followed or preceeded by a marker. The data being researched shows that there are three kinds of markers, namely obligatory, forbidden, and optional. Those three posibilities will give, on the one hand, some particular aspects in the system of definiteness in Indonesian. On the other hand, since many NPs in the data lack formal markers, it is assumed that there is still another phenomena which has to be studied in order to have a deeper understanding about that zero marker. And that lack of marker is the so-called zero marker. In the field of definiteness, that zero marker is considered as a characteristics of Indonesian. This research, then, will be focused on NPs having a zero marker in the data And to identify that kind of marker one has to move back to the essence of definiteness, that is the unique identity of reference in the discourse..     Bacteria with Phosphate Solubilizing Capacity Alter Mycorrhizal Fungal Growth Both Inside and Outside the Root and in the Presence of Native Microbial Communities.

    Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and phosphate solubilizing Pseudomonas bacteria (PSB) could potentially interact synergistically because PSB solubilize phosphate into a form that AMF can absorb and transport to the plant. However, very little is known about the interactions between these two groups of microorganisms and how they influence the growth of each other. We tested whether different strains of bacteria, that have the capacity to solubilize phosphate, are able to grow along AMF hyphae and differentially influence the growth of AMF both outside the roots of carrot in in vitro conditions and inside the roots of potato in the presence of a microbial community. We found strong effects of AMF on the growth of the different bacterial strains. Different bacterial strains also had very strong effects on the growth of AMF extraradical hyphae outside the roots of carrot and on colonization of potato roots by AMF. The differential effects on colonization occurred in the presence of a microbial community. Our results show that these two important groups of rhizosphere microorganisms indeed interact with each other. Such interactions could potentially lead to synergistic effects between the two groups but this could depend on whether the bacteria truly solubilize phosphate in the rhizosphere in the presence of microbial communities

    New calculations of the PNC Matrix Element for the JπTJ^{\pi}T 0+1,01^{+}1,0^{-}1 doublet in 14^{14}N

    A new calculation of the predominantly isoscalar PNC matrix element between the JπTJ^{\pi}T 0+1,010^{+}1,0^{-}1 (Ex_{x} \approx 8.7 MeV) states in 14^{14}N has been carried out in a (0+1+2+3+4)ω\hbar \omega model space with the Warburton-Brown interaction. The magnitude of the PNC matrix element of 0.22 to 0.34 eV obtained with the DDH PNC interaction is substantially suppressed compared with previous calculations in smaller model spaces but shows agreement with the preliminary Seattle experimental data. The calculated sign is opposite to that obtained experimentally, and the implications of this are discussed.Comment: REVTEX, 28 page

    Methane Mitigation:Methods to Reduce Emissions, on the Path to the Paris Agreement

    The atmospheric methane burden is increasing rapidly, contrary to pathways compatible with the goals of the 2015 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Paris Agreement. Urgent action is required to bring methane back to a pathway more in line with the Paris goals. Emission reduction from “tractable” (easier to mitigate) anthropogenic sources such as the fossil fuel industries and landfills is being much facilitated by technical advances in the past decade, which have radically improved our ability to locate, identify, quantify, and reduce emissions. Measures to reduce emissions from “intractable” (harder to mitigate) anthropogenic sources such as agriculture and biomass burning have received less attention and are also becoming more feasible, including removal from elevated-methane ambient air near to sources. The wider effort to use microbiological and dietary intervention to reduce emissions from cattle (and humans) is not addressed in detail in this essentially geophysical review. Though they cannot replace the need to reach “net-zero” emissions of CO2, significant reductions in the methane burden will ease the timescales needed to reach required CO2 reduction targets for any particular future temperature limit. There is no single magic bullet, but implementation of a wide array of mitigation and emission reduction strategies could substantially cut the global methane burden, at a cost that is relatively low compared to the parallel and necessary measures to reduce CO2, and thereby reduce the atmospheric methane burden back toward pathways consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement

    Explicit processing of verbal and spatial features during letter-location binding modulates oscillatory activity of a fronto-parietal network.

    The present study investigated the binding of verbal and spatial features in immediate memory. In a recent study, we demonstrated incidental and asymmetrical letter-location binding effects when participants attended to letter features (but not when they attended to location features) that were associated with greater oscillatory activity over prefrontal and posterior regions during the retention period. We were interested to investigate whether the patterns of brain activity associated with the incidental binding of letters and locations observed when only the verbal feature is attended differ from those reflecting the binding resulting from the controlled/explicit processing of both verbal and spatial features. To achieve this, neural activity was recorded using magnetoencephalography (MEG) while participants performed two working memory tasks. Both tasks were identical in terms of their perceptual characteristics and only differed with respect to the task instructions. One of the tasks required participants to process both letters and locations. In the other, participants were instructed to memorize only the letters, regardless of their location. Time–frequency representation of MEG data based on the wavelet transform of the signals was calculated on a single trial basis during the maintenance period of both tasks. Critically, despite equivalent behavioural binding effects in both tasks, single and dual feature encoding relied on different neuroanatomical and neural oscillatory correlates. We propose that enhanced activation of an anterior–posterior dorsal network observed in the task requiring the processing of both features reflects the necessity for allocating greater resources to intentionally process verbal and spatial features in this task

    Hadronization effects in event shape moments

    We study the moments of hadronic event shapes in e+ee^+e^- annihilation within the context of next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) perturbative QCD predictions combined with non-perturbative power corrections in the dispersive model. This model is extended to match upon the NNLO perturbative prediction. The resulting theoretical expression has been compared to experimental data from JADE and OPAL, and a new value for αs(MZ)\alpha_s(M_Z) has been determined, as well as of the average coupling α0\alpha_0 in the non-perturbative region below μI=2\mu_I=2 GeV within the dispersive model: \alpha_s(M_Z)&=0.1153\pm0.0017(\mathrm{exp})\pm0.0023(\mathrm{th}),\alpha_0&=0.5132\pm0.0115(\mathrm{exp})\pm0.0381(\mathrm{th}), The precision of the αs(MZ)\alpha_s(M_Z) value has been improved in comparison to the previously available next-to-leading order analysis. We observe that the resulting power corrections are considerably larger than those estimated from hadronization models in multi-purpose event generator programs.Comment: 23 pages, 5 figures, 15 tables.     Statefinder diagnosis and the interacting ghost model of dark energy

    A new model of dark energy namely "ghost dark energy model" has recently been suggested to interpret the positive acceleration of cosmic expansion. The energy density of ghost dark energy is proportional to the hubble parameter. In this paper we perform the statefinder diagnostic tool for this model both in flat and non-flat universe. We discuss the dependency of the evolutionary trajectories in srs-r and qrq-r planes on the interaction parameter between dark matter and dark energy as well as the spatial curvature parameter of the universe. Eventually, in the light of SNe+BAO+OHD+CMB observational data, we plot the evolutionary trajectories in srs-r and qrq-r planes for the best fit values of the cosmological parameters and compare the interacting ghost model with other dynamical dark energy models. We show that the evolutionary trajectory of ghost dark energy in statefinder diagram is similar to holographic dark energy model. It has been shown that the statefinder location of Λ\LambdaCDM is in good agreement with observation and therefore the dark energy models whose current statefinder values are far from the Λ\LambdaCDM point can be ruled out.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figure

    Calcium-permeable channelrhodopsins for the photocontrol of calcium signalling

    Channelrhodopsins are light-gated ion channels used to control excitability of designated cells in large networks with high spatiotemporal resolution. While ChRs selective for H(+), Na(+), K(+) and anions have been discovered or engineered, Ca(+)-selective ChRs have not been reported to date. Here, we analyse ChRs and mutant derivatives with regard to their Ca(+) permeability and improve their Ca(+) affinity by targeted mutagenesis at the central selectivity filter. The engineered channels, termed CapChR1 and CapChR2 for calcium-permeable channelrhodopsins, exhibit reduced sodium and proton conductance in connection with strongly improved Ca(+) permeation at negative voltage and low extracellular Ca(+) concentrations. In cultured cells and neurons, CapChR2 reliably increases intracellular Ca(+) concentrations. Moreover, CapChR2 can robustly trigger Ca(+) signalling in hippocampal neurons. When expressed together with genetically encoded Ca(+) indicators in Drosophila melanogaster mushroom body output neurons, CapChRs mediate light-evoked Ca(+) entry in brain explants

    The role and importance of gene polymorphisms in the development of atherosclerosis

    The development of atherosclerosis is a multifactorial process. The purpose of the study was to examine three genetic polymorphisms playing a role in the metabolic processes underlying the disease. We compared the data of 348 atherosclerotic non-diabetic patients with 260 atherosclerotic diabetic patients and 384 healthy controls. We analyzed the prevalence of myocardial infarction and stroke in three different groups of patients carrying different polymorphisms. It was proved that if the mutant TT eNOS Glu298ASP variant is present, a significantly higher number of myocardial infarctions can be observed than in patients carrying heterozygote GT or normal GG genotype. We proved that in the case of MTHFR 677CT heterozygote variants, the occurrence of myocardial infarction is significantly higher and the difference is also significant in case of the 677TT homozygote variant. It was verified that among patients with the mutant TNF-α AA genotype the occurrence of cardiovascular events was significantly higher. Screening the genetically high risk groups on the long run should be considered as an early detection opportunity that may give better chances for prevention and treatment. Understanding the inflammatory mechanisms of the atherosclerosis may give new therapeutical targets to pharmacologists

    Search for Doubly-Charged Higgs Boson Production at HERA

    A search for the single production of doubly-charged Higgs bosons H^{\pm \pm} in ep collisions is presented. The signal is searched for via the Higgs decays into a high mass pair of same charge leptons, one of them being an electron. The analysis uses up to 118 pb^{-1} of ep data collected by the H1 experiment at HERA. No evidence for doubly-charged Higgs production is observed and mass dependent upper limits are derived on the Yukawa couplings h_{el} of the Higgs boson to an electron-lepton pair. Assuming that the doubly-charged Higgs only decays into an electron and a muon via a coupling of electromagnetic strength h_{e \mu} = \sqrt{4 \pi \alpha_{em}} = 0.3, a lower limit of 141 GeV on the H^{\pm\pm} mass is obtained at the 95% confidence level. For a doubly-charged Higgs decaying only into an electron and a tau and a coupling h_{e\tau} = 0.3, masses below 112 GeV are ruled out.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl
