      The present investigation is based on the development of a study that determines the soil bearing capacity as a geotechnical parameter, applying the DCP penetration dynamic cone test, in the adjacent areas to the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Chemical Sciences. The values obtained from the DCP index correlated with experimental formulas allowed obtaining the soil bearing capacity, also establishing parameters such as grain size, humidity, compaction, Atterberg limits, resilient module regulated by the AASTHO, subsequently characterizing the different samples from the results obtained in the soil mechanics laboratory. When defining the results obtained in the investigation, parameters were determined that detail the composition of the soil at the study site, in which a CBR was obtained categorizing it as “poor to regulate” in terms of the quality of the subgrade. Furthermore, the texture of the material was classified as silt soils from low to high plasticity. Thus, it is proposed to use the information obtained in the investigation for the projection of future civil works that contribute to the integral development of this alma mater.   Index Terms- California Support Value (CBR), Dynamic Standard Penetration Cone (DCP), Resilient Module, Test, Subgrade, Pavement

    Caracterización de la movilidad vehicular y peatonal en la Universidad Técnica de Manabí

      El congestionamiento vehicular y peatonal es una problemática frecuente en muchas ciudades del mundo, que se agrava por la distribución inadecuada de espacios y por el irrespeto a las normas vigentes de tránsito. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue caracterizar la movilidad vehicular y peatonal dentro del campus principal de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí, para identificar problemas y proponer posibles soluciones que mejoren la movilidad en la institución y sus alrededores. La metodología se basó en la implementación de aforos para vehículos y peatones en los 5 puntos de ingreso/salida de la institución durante una semana, conteo de espacios disponibles en las áreas de estacionamiento y la implementación de una encuesta virtual dirigida a una muestra considerable de usuarios en la institución. Los resultados indicaron que la movilización peatonal, proveniente en gran porcentaje del transporte público, es el principal medio ingreso/salida a la Universidad, seguida del vehículo liviano.   Palabras clave— Problemática, Movilidad, implementación, aforos vehiculares, aforos peatonales, congestión vehicular.   Abstract— Vehicular and pedestrian congestion is a frequent problem in many cities around the world, aggravated by the inadequate distribution of spaces and disrespect for current traffic regulations. The objective of this research was to characterize vehicular and pedestrian mobility within the main campus of the Technical University of Manabí, to identify problems and propose possible solutions that improve mobility in the institution and its surroundings. The methodology was based on the implementation of counting points for vehicles and pedestrians in the 5 places of entry/exit of the institution during a week, counting of available spaces in the parking areas and the implementation of a virtual survey directed to a sample considerable number of users in the institution.     Integración de una ciclovía en la movilidad interna de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí, Portoviejo

    The Technical University of Manabi is a highly relevant higher education institution in the province of Manabi. The current road system of its main campus has been in operation for more than 30 years; during this time, the constant growth of the vehicle fleet has been evidenced along with the increase in students, professors, administrative personnel and external visitors. The objective of this research is to propose the integration of a bikeway on the university campus, to optimize the internal mobility of its academic community. The methodology considered the compilation of bibliographic information, field studies in situ in the facilities; dissemination of virtual surveys to a sample of 378 users, applied to students, professors and administrative personnel, through the Google Forms digital system; AutoCAD software was used simultaneously to propose the distribution of the cycling infrastructure and complementary suggestions, identifying two types of routes that will be developed in almost 2900 m of road. The bikeway proposal is focused on obtaining sustainable connectivity, providing efficiency, promoting safe environments and comfortable conditions for the academic community. The feasibility studies show that the university population of the Portoviejo Campus has a positive inclination towards the integration of a new transportation alternative, which constitutes a sustainable mobility policy as a pilot project in the UTM that can be replicated in other university institutions. El actual sistema vial de su campus principal se ha mantenido en funcionamiento por más de 30 años; durante este tiempo se ha evidenciado el crecimiento constante del parque automotor a la par del aumento de estudiantes, docentes, personal administrativo y visitantes externos. El objetivo de la presente investigación es proponer la integración de una ciclovía en el campus universitario, para optimizar la movilidad interna de su comunidad académica. La metodología consideró la recopilación de información bibliográfica, visitas y estudios de campo in situ en las instalaciones; difusión de encuestas virtuales a una muestra de 378 usuarios, aplicada a estudiantes, docentes y personal administrativo, mediante el sistema digital de Google Formularios; se utilizó simultáneamente el software AutoCAD para proponer la distribución de la infraestructura ciclista y sugerencias complementarias, identificando dos tipos de rutas que se desarrollarán en casi 2900 m de vía. La propuesta de la ciclovía está enfocada en la obtención de una conectividad sostenible, aportando eficiencia, propiciando entornos seguros y condiciones de confort a la comunidad académica. Los estudios de factibilidad evidencian que la población universitaria del Campus Portoviejo tiene una inclinación positiva hacia la integración de una nueva alternativa de transporte, lo cual constituye una política de movilidad sustentable como un proyecto piloto en la UTM que puede ser replicado en otras instituciones universitarias.     Análisis comparativo entre un hormigón convencional y con el uso de fibras metálicas y sintéticas

    The present research work was carried out with the objective of determining the influence of metallic and synthetic fibers in a concrete design of 210kg/cm2 when compared with another conventional concrete design with the same dosages and aggregates, for its subsequent comparative analysis of resistance at the age of 7, 14 and 28 days of manufacture and curing, to perform the designs the aggregates were subjected to various types of tests such as: granulometry, specific gravity, unit weights of the materials, abrasion test, sulfate wear test and concrete compression test. The quantities of fine materials used to improve the grading of the materials were 20% Spark, 40% Homogenized Sand and 40% Beach Sand. It was demonstrated on the basis of the results obtained that the concrete with the addition of metallic and synthetic fibers has a higher compressive strength in the different days of curing compared to the conventional concrete, exceeding 16.70% at 28 days. Keywords: Compression resistance, concrete, Metallic fibers, synthetic fibers, aggregates.El presente trabajo investigativo se lo realizó con el objetivo de poder determinar la influencia de las fibras metálicas y sintéticas en un diseño de un hormigón de 210kg/cm2 al ser comparado con otro diseño de hormigón convencional con las mismas dosificaciones y agregados, para su posterior análisis comparativo de resistencia a las edad de 7,14 y 28 días de fabricación y curado, para realizar  diseños con agregados que fueron sometidos a diversos tipos de ensayos como son: granulometría, gravedad específica, pesos unitarios de los materiales, ensayo de abrasión, ensayo de desgaste a los sulfatos y el ensayo a la compresión del hormigón. Las cantidades de materiales finos que se utilizaron para mejorar la graduación de los materiales fueron la siguiente: 20% Chispa, 40% Arena Homogenizada y 40% Arena de Playa. Demostrándose en base a los resultados obtenidos que el hormigón con adición de fibras metálicas y sintéticas tiene una mayor resistencia a la compresión que en los diferentes días de curado en comparación con el hormigón convencional superando en un 16.70% a los 28 días.     Este libro aborda la investigación en el contexto educativo y su contribución al desarrollo en procesos productivos paneleros a través de la implementación de buenas prácticas de manufactura, como estrategia de mejoramiento en aspectos ambientales, de seguridad y salud en el trabajo, dando respuesta a necesidades del contexto local y desarrollo de su región. A través de la investigación se lleva a cabo una revisión de procesos productivos del municipio de Guaduas y sus alrededores, especialmente en el sector agrícola, lo que permite evidenciar que el sector panelero es un renglón económico de relevancia en la región, que requiere cualificación del personal que realiza dicha actividad; mejora en el proceso productivo con el fin de obtener un producto de calidad y que contribuya a minimizar los impactos ambientales en el entorno; es por ello que, a través de la implementación de buenas prácticas de manufactura, se desea contribuir al mejoramiento del proceso productivo, incentivando el uso adecuado de recursos naturales, fomentando la cualificación del personal que labora en dicha actividad, y propiciando la búsqueda de la expansión a mercados locales y nacionales de un producto de buena calidad para el consumidor

    Combined searches for the production of supersymmetric top quark partners in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV

    A combination of searches for top squark pair production using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb(-1) collected by the CMS experiment, is presented. Signatures with at least 2 jets and large missing transverse momentum are categorized into events with 0, 1, or 2 leptons. New results for regions of parameter space where the kinematical properties of top squark pair production and top quark pair production are very similar are presented. Depending on themodel, the combined result excludes a top squarkmass up to 1325 GeV for amassless neutralino, and a neutralinomass up to 700 GeV for a top squarkmass of 1150 GeV. Top squarks with masses from 145 to 295 GeV, for neutralino masses from 0 to 100 GeV, with a mass difference between the top squark and the neutralino in a window of 30 GeV around the mass of the top quark, are excluded for the first time with CMS data. The results of theses searches are also interpreted in an alternative signal model of dark matter production via a spin-0 mediator in association with a top quark pair. Upper limits are set on the cross section for mediator particle masses of up to 420 GeV

    Search for new particles in events with energetic jets and large missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV

    A search is presented for new particles produced at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV, using events with energetic jets and large missing transverse momentum. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 101 fb(-1), collected in 2017-2018 with the CMS detector. Machine learning techniques are used to define separate categories for events with narrow jets from initial-state radiation and events with large-radius jets consistent with a hadronic decay of a W or Z boson. A statistical combination is made with an earlier search based on a data sample of 36 fb(-1), collected in 2016. No significant excess of events is observed with respect to the standard model background expectation determined from control samples in data. The results are interpreted in terms of limits on the branching fraction of an invisible decay of the Higgs boson, as well as constraints on simplified models of dark matter, on first-generation scalar leptoquarks decaying to quarks and neutrinos, and on models with large extra dimensions. Several of the new limits, specifically for spin-1 dark matter mediators, pseudoscalar mediators, colored mediators, and leptoquarks, are the most restrictive to date.Peer reviewe

    Measurements of the Electroweak Diboson Production Cross Sections in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=5.02 TeV Using Leptonic Decays

    The first measurements of diboson production cross sections in proton-proton interactions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV are reported. They are based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 302 pb(-1). Events with two, three, or four charged light leptons (electrons or muons) in the final state are analyzed. The WW, WZ, and ZZ total cross sections are measured as sigma(WW) = 37:0(-5.2)(+5.5) (stat)(-2.6)(+2.7) (syst) pb, sigma(WZ) = 6.4(-2.1)(+2.5) (stat)(-0.3)(+0.5)(syst) pb, and sigma(ZZ) = 5.3(-2.1)(+2.5)(stat)(-0.4)(+0.5) (syst) pb. All measurements are in good agreement with theoretical calculations at combined next-to-next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics and next-to-leading order electroweak accuracy

    Search for lepton-flavor violating decays of the Higgs boson in the mu tau and e tau final states in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV

    A search is presented for lepton-flavor violating decays of the Higgs boson to mu t and et. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb(-1) collected at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant excess has been found, and the results are interpreted in terms of upper limits on lepton-flavor violating branching fractions of the Higgs boson. The observed (expected) upper limits on the branching fractions are, respectively, B(H -> mu t) e tau) < 0.22(0.16)% at 95% confidence level.Peer reviewe
