User profiling, one of the main issue faced while implementing the efficient question answering system, in which the user profile is made, containing the data posed by the user, capturing their domain of interest. The paper presents the method of predicting the next related questions to the first initial question provided by the user to the question answering search engine. A novel approach of the association rule mining is highlighted in which the information is extracted from the log of the previously submitted questions to the question answering search engine, using algorithms for mining association rules and predicts the set of next questions that the user will provide to the system in the next session. Using this approach, the question answering system keeps the relevant answers of the next questions in the repository for providing a speedy response to the user and thus increasing the efficiency of the system

A study of the academic performance of Iowa Valley Community College District transfer students

The purpose of this study was to assess the academic performance of Iowa Valley Community College District transfer students at the Iowa Regent institutions. The study analyzed the Regent first-term and cumulative GPA of IVCCD students who transferred to a Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Iowa between 2000 and 2004. Four research questions guided the study: (1) What are the academic characteristics of IVCCD students who transferred to Regent institutions? (2) How did students perform at Regent institutions upon transfer? (3) Did transfer students experience a recovery in GPA at the time of baccalaureate degree attainment? (4) Are there significant differences in Regent first-term GPA based upon Regent institution, community college, sex, community college credits earned, degree vs. non-degree recipient, academic year of transfer, or academic discipline? Student-level data for 755 transfer students was obtained from Transfer Student Academic Performance reports provided by Offices of Admissions at ISU, UNI, and UI. Data analysis was accomplished through the use of demographic characteristics, means, standard deviations, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Findings of the study indicated that students experienced transfer shock at the senior institution and obtained a Regent first-term GPA that was seven-tenths of a grade point less than their community college cumulative GPA. Students who persisted to graduation from the Regent institutions recovered 0.28 of a grade point from their Regent first-term GPA and achieved an overall GPA that was 0.24 lower than their community college cumulative GPA. ANOVA results revealed that students who transfer from MCC, who are female, and who complete degrees prior to transferring achieve a significantly higher Regent first-term GPA. In addition, students who enrolled in Education and Humanities achieved a higher Regent first-term GPA than those in other disciplines. Recommendations for further study included expanding the study to include all Iowa community colleges, increasing the number and nature of the independent variables, integrating the Regent information into the IVCCD student recordkeeping system, and expanding the study to include private, four-year institutions

The Ethical Dilemma of Information Asymmetry in Innovation: Reputation, Investors and Noise in the Innovation Channel.

A sufficient and steady stream of innovations is widely seen as a basis for healthy modern economies. Governments divert substantial resources from other purposes in society to increase innovation. Yet the failure rate among innovative SMEs is high, suggesting that resources are wasted. Avoiding such waste is a challenge for both governments and investors, but also raises a question for the innovative company, namely how to build and fund the\ud enterprise on an ethical basis. The dilemma of giving in to temptations to ‘cut corners’ clearly exists, for example to exploit the inevitable asymmetry of information arising in innovation and potentially deploy this in support of misleading claims about specific capabilities and/or the unjustified creation and exploitation of reputation. This is consistent with Olaf Fisscher’s finding that entrepreneurs starting new ventures tend to exhibit an inherent bias towards compromising their own values in order to succeed at any cost. When the innoSME’s aspirations are unrealistic or the proposed innovations are of marginal value, the ethical issues are broader and extend also to those who are potential financiers. Noting this as a gap in the ethics literature, we argue that the current situation fails to match economic and ethical ideals and that work is needed to develop tools which allow those who provide finance and support for innovation to target it more effectively at those who have a prospect of successfully launching genuine innovations and thus reduce the ‘noise’ in the innovation field

This paper reviews the literature to understand the ability of sustainable green initiatives when practiced as a corporate culture to individually create new opportunities for operations, management and marketing. According to current research, business opportunities exclusively available to different functions of a firm can drive its performance. The role of marketing in the achievement of superior performance by virtue of sustainability practices is also explained by the existing literature. Branding literature, however, fails to explain the influence of a brand on sustainability-driven opportunities available to a firm for superior performance. The objective of this study is to explore if a brand can strengthen the ability of sustainability-based green initiatives of managers to drive opportunities available to a firm for superior performance. A conceptual framework grounded in the triple bottom line theory is presented based on the assumption that brand as a stimulating factor can accelerate the conversion of opportunities available to a business into superior performance. Academic and managerial perspectives have been used to draw upon the implications of the model. Both practitioners and academic researchers will benefit from future research on this topic

IDENTIFICATION AND QUANTIFICATION OF SOME PESTICIDE METABOLITES FROM VEGETABLES BY GC-TOF-MS AND LC-MS-QQQ

Considering the international situation regarding the residues of pesticides in vegetables and fruits and the requirement for sensitive and reliable analytical methods that are able to ensure the compliance of marketed food commodities with the law on food safety, the aim of this paper was the identification and determination of some degradation products and metabolites of ten most often used pesticides. Two analytical approaches are proposed and used for the development of reliable screening, quantification and confirmation of pesticides metabolites in different vegetables. The proposed methods have different approaches than the other multi-residue methods for vegetables allowing the extensive investigation of previously undetectable or unknown pesticide metabolites in vegetables. These methods were tested on cherry tomato, cucumber, and chili pepper, some of the most widely consumed vegetables. The results suggest that spraying pesticides in high doses lead to high levels of pesticide residues in the case of some studied vegetables and the concentration of metabolites together concentration of parent pesticide must be considered in order to establish the MRL’s in vegetables and fruits

Android operating system is a broadened source versatile application which relies upon Linux Kernel working framework. It is most popular application till now and has a low cost which makes it growing much faster than any other operating system. In today’s world of rapidly growing technology there are many operating system but android is the most efficient and user friendly operating system. The main reason towards its growing popularity is various functionalities, ease of use and utility. This can perform numerous tasks such as making call, sending or receiving Messages, music, online shopping, playing games, web browsing, many social media apps etc. As we all know Android OS is developed by Google and provides a huge variety of applications. This paper will show the increase of Android OS and the development of Android operating system
