An Analysis of Global Research Trends on Greenhouse Technology: Towards a Sustainable Agriculture

Greenhouse farming is an agricultural management system that has demonstrated its efficiency in intensifying food production. These systems constitute a feasible alternative for ensuring food supply, which is one of the greatest challenges faced by humankind in the twenty-first century. Technology has been able to meet the challenges related to greenhouse farming in both contributing to overcoming its limitations, correcting adverse impacts and ensuring system sustainability. The objective of this article is to analyse the global research trends in greenhouse technology over the last two decades, in order to identify the main driving agents, the most outstanding research lines and possible gaps in the literature. Different methodologies have been used for the analysis; both quantitative and qualitative. The principal results show that there are different relevant lines of research related to different aspects of greenhouse farming: the use of water for irrigation, the design of the optimum structure of the greenhouse, conserving the soil in the best growing conditions, energy consumption of the system as a whole, climate control within the facility and pest control. The research is characterized by the being composed largely of ad hoc studies, which hinders the international collaboration between researchers and institutions. The research approach has shifted from being focused on increasing production and cost savings to aspects related to resource conservation and sustainability

El Palmeral de Elche: a jewel that has to be defended

El Palmeral de Elche es una joya de más de 200 mil palmeras dentro de la ciudad. Es considerado el más grande de Europa y uno de los más grandes del mundo. Fue en el año 2000 cuando la UNESCO le otorgó el merecido reconocimiento de Patrimonio de la Humanidad. El Palmeral es el corazón latente que ha quedado del legado de Al-Andalus en Elche. Está formado por huertos de palmeras estructurados en el siglo VIII d.C con sistemas de riego complejos que presentan un interés particular. El picudo rojo aterrizó en Elche en 2005. Se trata de un insecto de unos cinco centímetros y de origen tropical que siente una gran atracción por las palmeras. Desde que llegó al Palmeral de Elche provocó la tala de un gran número de árboles. En los últimos datos publicados el Ayuntamiento de la ciudad asegura que el 99% del Palmeral está libre de esta amenaza. Como los medios de comunicación juegan un papel clave en la difusión de información sobre el Palmeral y el picudo el objetivo de este reportaje es el uso de newsgame y gamificación con el fin de favorecer el interés de los ilicitanos por la joya que poseen y su necesaria protección. Se pretende que el contenido sea periodístico a la vez que lúdico y atractivo de manera que, mediante el uso de nuevas narrativas, el lector pueda interactuar con el reportaje y adquirir mayor información.The palm grove of Elche is a jewel of more than 200 thousand palm trees in the city. It is considered the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It was in the year 2000 when UNESCO granted him the deserved recognition of World Heritage. The Palm Grove is the latent heart that has remained of the legacy of Al-Andalus in Elche. It consists of palm groves structured in the eighth century AD with complex irrigation systems that have a particular interest. The red palm weevil landed in Elche in 2005. It is an insect of about five centimeters and tropical origin that feels a great attraction for the palm trees. Since he arrived at the Elche palm grove, he cut down a large number of trees. In the latest published data the City Council ensures that 99% of the palm grove is free of this threat. The media play a key role in the dissemination of information about the Elche Palmeral and the red palm weevil, so the objective of this report is the use of newsgame and gamification in order to promote the interest of citizens for the jewel they have and their protection. Análisis de la influencia de la aptitud natural de uso de los suelos en la pobreza y desnutrición de la población de las parroquias rurales de la provincia de Cotopaxi

Los más altos índices de pobreza y desnutrición de la población rural se concentran en la zona central de la región Sierra del Ecuador, de la cual forma parte la provincia de Cotopaxi, además el deterioro ambiental de sus ecosistemas, especialmente de los páramos, continua incrementándose. En la presente investigación, se analiza cómo la aptitud natural de uso del suelo, incompatible con el uso actual productivo del suelo, influye en la pobreza y desnutrición de la población de las parroquias rurales de la provincia de Cotopaxi; bajo la premisa de que la principal actividad productiva de esta población es la agricultura. Esto se comprueba mediante el método estadístico de correlación que confirma si existe o no algún tipo de relación entre la aptitud natural y uso actual del suelo, con la pobreza y desnutrición de la población rural, a través de la aplicación del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman. A partir del análisis de correlación, los resultados revelan que la pobreza y desnutrición de la población rural está en relación con el uso incorrecto del suelo, y esto a su vez, genera deterioro ambiental por su uso incompatible. Es así que, los mayores índices de pobreza y desnutrición se concentran en los valores más bajos en aptitud natural del uso del suelo en cultivos, cuando en promedio más del 50% de la población se dedica a la actividad agrícola. De donde se infiere que, además de ocasionar degradación ambiental que pone en riesgo la seguridad alimentaria de la población, la actividad agrícola no genera los ingresos económicos suficientes para que las familias pueden mejorar sus condiciones de vida, y asimismo, detener la transgresión en los ecosistemas frágiles de los Andes

A Solution CBR Agent-Based to Classify SOAP Message within SOA Environments

This paper presents the core component of a solution based on agent technology specifically adapted for the classification of SOA messages. These messages can carry out attacks that target the applications providing Web Services. An advanced mechanism of classification designed in two phases incorporates a CBR-Agent type for classifying the incoming SOAP messages as legal or malicious. Effect of Wakame and Carob Pod Snacks on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Snacks combining different functional ingredients could represent a useful therapeutic strategy against NAFLD. The present study aimed to analyze the effect of two snack formulations based on carob and wakame flour in the treatment for NAFLD in rats. For this purpose, metabolic syndrome was induced in 50 adult rats by a high-fat high-fructose diet over eight weeks. After this period, rats were fed either normal calorie diets supplemented or not with snack A (1/50 wakame/carob pod) and snack B (1/5 wakame/carob pod) for four additional weeks. After sacrifice, liver composition and serum parameters were analyzed. Different pathways of triacylglycerol metabolism in liver were studied including fatty acid oxidation, fatty acid synthesis, triglyceride assembly and release, fatty acid uptake and glucose uptake. Oxidative stress was also measured. Snack treatment, and mainly B snack, reduced liver triacylglycerol levels by increasing fat oxidation. Moreover, this snack reduced oxidative stress. Relación entre satisfacción laboral, bienestar psicológico y bienestar subjetivo en psicólogos que trabajan en chile

103 p.El objetivo de esta investigación consistió en determinar la relación entre satisfacción laboral, bienestar psicológico y bienestar subjetivo en psicólogos que trabajan en Chile, además aportar datos sobre la situación actual de los psicólogos en el país. La muestra corresponde a 1174 psicólogos, a quienes se les administró el Cuestionario de Satisfacción Laboral elaborada (Meliá y Peiró, 1989), la Escala de Satisfacción con la Vida (Diener, Emmons, Larsen y Griffin, 1985), la Escala de Felicidad Subjetiva (Lyubomirsky y Lepper, 1999) y la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico (Ryff, 2006). Además de un cuestionario de antecedentes sociodemográfico y laborales. Los resultados revelan adecuado índices de satisfacción laboral, bienestar psicológico y subjetivo (felicidad y satisfacción vital). Las correlaciones de la medida de satisfacción laboral fluctúan entre bajas y moderadas, siendo la más baja aquella observada con la medida de felicidad, mientras que se observan valores mayores en las correlaciones con el bienestar psicológico y satisfacción vital. En el caso del bienestar psicológico, junto con la correlación con la satisfacción laboral previamente descrita, se observan correlaciones moderadas con las medidas de bienestar subjetivo, es decir buenas correlaciones con la satisfacción vital y felicidad, las cuales a su vez muestran moderadas correlaciones. Se concluye que es importante incorporar el análisis de otras variables que podrían dar cuenta de modo más amplio la situación actual del psicólogo en Chile. Grief Experiences in Family Caregivers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

The main objective of this study was to analyse the experience of grief and feelings of loss in family caregivers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as the perceived overload from taking on the primary caregiver role. Twenty family caregivers of children with ASD participated. The family members were assessed using an ad-hoc semi-structured interview that addressed the families' reactions to the diagnosis, implications for daily functioning, and concerns for the immediate and long-term future of their relatives with ASD. The results indicate that family caregivers of children with ASD endure intense and continuous sorrow and grief due to the impact that having and caring for a child with these characteristics has on all aspects of their lives. These data highlight the importance of creating support and intervention programmes and services focused on the feelings and manifestations of ambiguous grief that occur in these family members, in order to improve their well-being and quality of life and reduce caregiver role overload

Genetic diversity in two variants of Orobanche gracilis Sm. [var. gracilis and var. deludens (Beck) A. Pujadas] (Orobanchaceae) from different regions of Spain

The pattern of genetic variation among populations of two Orobanche gracilis Sm. taxa (var. gracilis and var. deludens (Beck) A. Pujadas) from Northern and Southern Spain growing on different hosts was analysed using RAPD markers. The diversity analysis within populations revealed a higher level of diversity in the populations from the North when compared to the Southern ones. The results of principal co-ordinate analysis (PCoA) based on Dice distances among samples clearly established the separation of samples according to the taxonomical variety and the geographical origin of each population. The Southern populations of both var. gracilis and var. deludens were more differentiated among them than those of var. gracilis from the North. The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) indicated that the lowest level of population differentiation was found in O. gracilis var. gracilis from the North, whereas in the case of O. gracilis var. deludens from the South most of the genetic diversity was attributable to differences among populations. Análisis de los mecanismos de seguridad en un ISP de nivel tres y propuesta de implementación de IPSEC en un entorno IPV6.

In this paper, in the first instance, a complete analysis of the security mechanisms of a level three Internet service provider is carried out. For this, we first study some principles related to the Internet such as history, basic characteristics and statistical data, then describe what is the full operation of an ISP, as well as its structure and some protocols that are developed in this environment, also detailing the different types of ISPs that currently exist. The study of security criteria that are handled in Internet service providers is developed. This study includes the security requirements presented by this type of organization, both from the ISP point of view and from the point of view of the end user. It also describes a security model based on the computer security standard ISO / IEC 27001, which can be adopted by organizations that are dedicated to the commercialization of Internet access. As a fundamental part of this document, a proposal for the implementation of the IPSec security protocol is presented within an IPv6 environment. This proposal is managed under the mode of a network simulation performed on the Riverbed Modeler program in its academic version. The statistical data produced by this network prototype are analyzed and later presented as a sample of the viability of the proposal.En el presente documento, en primer lugar, se desarrolla un estudio integral de los procedimientos de seguridad con los que cuenta un ISP de nivel tres, para esto, se estudia algunos principios relacionados con Internet como historia, características básicas y datos estadísticos, luego se describe cual es el funcionamiento general de un ISP, así como su estructura y algunos protocolos que se desarrollan en este entorno, además se explica detalladamente la clasificación de los ISP’s. Se desarrolla un análisis completo de los paradigmas de seguridad que se manejan dentro de los ISP. En este estudio se incluyen los requerimientos de seguridad que presentan estas organizaciones, tanto desde la perspectiva del proveedor de servicios de Internet como de la perspectiva del cliente. También se describe un prototipo de seguridad generado mediante la norma ISO/IEC 27001, el mismo que puede ser adoptado por organizaciones que se dedican a la comercialización de acceso a Internet. Como parte fundamental de este documento, se presenta una propuesta de implementación del protocolo de seguridad IPSec dentro de un entorno IPv6. Dicha propuesta se la maneja bajo el modo de una simulación de red realizada sobre el programa Riverbed Modeler en su versión académica. Los datos estadísticos arrojados por este prototipo de red son analizados y posteriormente presentados como muestra de la viabilidad de la propuesta mencionada
