    Evaluación fotogramétrica de los estándares de tolerancia geométrica: un estudio de caso de modelo de Darpa

    A DARPA Suboff scale model was used for the development of an analysis methodology for geometric deviations of the hull, aiming the quality control of model manufacturing process. The surface three-dimensional coordinates were obtained through a photogrammetric survey and analyzed based on statistical tools. The results were classified according to the ITTC and DIN ISO geometric tolerance standards, allowing the investigation of the compliance of the model to such criteria and the study of local geometric deviations.Se utilizó un modelo a escala DARPA Suboff para el desarrollo de una metodología de análisis para las desviaciones geométricas del casco, con el objetivo de controlar la calidad del modelo del proceso de fabricación. Las coordenadas tridimensionales de la superficie se obtuvieron a través de un estudio fotogramétrico y se analizaron en base a herramientas estadísticas. Los resultados se clasificaron de acuerdo con los estándares de tolerancia geométrica del ITTC y DIN ISO, lo que permitió investigar el cumplimiento del modelo con dichos criterios y estudiar las desviaciones geométricas locales

    In silico predicted epitopes from the COOH-terminal extension of cysteine proteinase B inducing distinct immune responses during Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis experimental murine infection

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Leishmania </it>parasites have been reported to interfere and even subvert their host immune responses to enhance their chances of survival and proliferation. Experimental <it>Leishmania </it>infection in mice has been widely used in the identification of specific parasite virulence factors involved in the interaction with the host immune system. Cysteine-proteinase B (CPB) is an important virulence factor in parasites from the <it>Leishmania (Leishmania) mexicana </it>complex: it inhibits lymphocytes Th1 and/or promotes Th2 responses either through proteolytic activity or through epitopes derived from its COOH-terminal extension. In the present study we analyzed the effects of <it>Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis </it>CPB COOH-terminal extension-derived peptides on cell cultures from murine strains with distinct levels of susceptibility to infection: BALB/c, highly susceptible, and CBA, mildly resistant.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Predicted epitopes, obtained by <it>in silico </it>mapping, displayed the ability to induce cell proliferation and expression of cytokines related to Th1 and Th2 responses. Furthermore, we applied <it>in silico </it>simulations to investigate how the MHC/epitopes interactions could be related to the immunomodulatory effects on cytokines, finding evidence that specific interaction patterns can be related to <it>in vitro </it>activities.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Based on our results, we consider that some peptides from the CPB COOH-terminal extension may influence host immune responses in the murine infection, thus helping <it>Leishmania </it>survival.</p

    Continuous positive airway pressure and body position alter lung clearance of the radiopharmaceutical 99mtechnetium-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA)

    The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the pulmonary clearance rate of 99mtechnetium-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA) through the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in different postures. It was a quasi-experimental study involving 36 healthy individuals with normal spirometry. 99mTc-DTPA, as aerosol, was nebulized for 3 min with the individual in a sitting position. The pulmonary clearance rate was assessed through pulmonary scintigraphy under spontaneous breathing and under 20 and 10 cmH2O CPAP in the sitting and supine positions. The clearance rate was expressed as the half-time (T1/2), that is, the time for the activity to decrease to 50% of the peak value. 20 cmH2O CPAP produced significant reduction of the T1/2 of 99mTc-DTPA in the supine position (P = 0.009) and in the sitting position (P = 0.005). However, 10 cmH2O CPAP did not alter the T1/2 of DTPA in both positions. The postural variation from supine to the sitting position with 10 cmH2O CPAP (P = 0.01) and 20 cmH2O (P = 0.02) also reduced the T1/2 of 99mTc-DTPA. High levels of positive pressure in normal lungs resulted in faster 99mTc-DTPA clearance. Moreover, the sitting position further increased the clearance rate of the 99mTc radioaerosol imaging in the two pressure levels studied.Key words: Continuous positive airway pressure, 99mTc-DTPA, scintigraphy, posture

    Primary healthcare and the construction of thematic health networks: what role can they play?

    The enhancement of primary healthcare has been a core strategy for the empowerment of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Recent guidelines issued by OPAS and the Ministry of Health highlight the role it has played as a thematic communication network center, a regulating agent for the access and use of services required for comprehensive healthcare. Sponsored by PPSUS/Fapesp, this study examines the possibilities of the primary healthcare network exercising such a strategic function. Life narratives involving 15 regular users were produced in two cities of ABC Paulista, which have adopted the Family Health Strategy for the organization of their primary healthcare networks. The study presents three main findings: the primary healthcare network serves as an outpost of SUS by producing user values even for high complexity service users; the primary network is perceived is a place for simple care needs; there is shared impotence between users and teams when it comes to the network functioning as the coordinator of care, indicating that it does not possess the technological, operational and organizational material conditions or symbolic conditions (values, meanings, and representations) to be in a central position in the coordination of thematic healthcare networks.O fortalecimento da atenção básica tem sido valorizado como estratégia central para a construção do SUS. Diretrizes recentes emanadas pela OPAS e pelo MS destacam seu papel como centro de comunicação de redes temáticas, como reguladora do acesso e utilização dos serviços necessários para a integralidade do cuidado. O presente estudo, financiado com recursos PPSUS/Fapesp, problematiza as possibilidades da rede básica exercer tal função estratégica. Foram produzidas narrativas de vida de 15 usuários altamente utilizadores de serviços de saúde em dois municípios do ABC paulista, que adotaram a Estratégia de Saúde da Família para organização de suas redes básicas.     The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment

    The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14 is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14 is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2), including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be followed by SDSS-V.Comment: SDSS-IV collaboration alphabetical author data release paper.
