This study originated in the attempt to identify a number of Rhynchotremas and Zygospiras from the Plattin and Decorah formations of Ste. Genevieve County, Mo. Comparisons were made with sets from several other localities in the Mississippi valley, and thus considerable additional material was examined, involving not only Black River horizons, but the Kimmswick and Maquoketa as well

    The Public Service Employment Program

From 1971 to 1982, the federal government attempted to reduce unemployment by subsidizing positions in state and local governments. These efforts were geared toward helping the unemployed gain human capital that could lead to unsubsidized work, while helping governments provide needed services for their citizens. A variety of approaches were tried in practically every area of program design. The authors reveal what worked.https://research.upjohn.org/up_press/1125/thumbnail.jp

This article examines the legacy return from exile in the Spanish-Argentinean sons. Memory, identity and return migration are the axes that structure a text that takes as its starting point the narrative hispanic-argentina contemporary culture. This is a space exploration about identity like work of the exile individual. One of the most representative researchers in the historic-literary is Maria Rosa Lojo. The writer keeps alive the memory of the return about exiles. But we analyze the mythological story through his first novel, «Son lost in Buenos Aires to west», and the presence of this subject throughout her work.

The Expression Patterns of Minor Fibrillar Collagens During Development in Zebrafish

Minor fibrillar collagens are recognized as the organizers and nucleators during collagen fibrillogenesis but likely serve additional functions. The minor fibrillar collagens include collagens type V and type XI. Mutations of collagen type V and XI can cause Ehlers Danlos, Stickler\u27s, and Marshall\u27s syndromes in human. We have characterized the spatiotemporal expression patterns of Col11a1, Col11a2, Col5a1 as well as Col5a3 in zebrafish embryos by in situ hybridization. Col5a1 is expressed in developing somites, neural crest, the head mesenchyme, developing cranial cartilage, pharyngeal arches and vertebrae. Col5a3 is detected in the notochord, mesenchyme cells in the eyes and lens. Both Col11a1 and Col11a2 have similar expression patterns, including notochord, otic vesicle, and developing cranial cartilages. Zebrafish may therefore serve as a valuable vertebrate model system for the study of diseases associated with collagens type V and XI mutations

Interoceptive inference, emotion, and the embodied self

The concept of the brain as a prediction machine has enjoyed a resurgence in the context of the Bayesian brain and predictive coding approaches within cognitive science. To date, this perspective has been applied primarily to exteroceptive perception (e.g., vision, audition), and action. Here, I describe a predictive, inferential perspective on interoception: ‘interoceptive inference’ conceives of subjective feeling states (emotions) as arising from actively-inferred generative (predictive) models of the causes of interoceptive afferents. The model generalizes ‘appraisal’ theories that view emotions as emerging from cognitive evaluations of physiological changes, and it sheds new light on the neurocognitive mechanisms that underlie the experience of body ownership and conscious selfhood in health and in neuropsychiatric illness
