    Development of Wearable Systems for Ubiquitous Healthcare Service Provisioning

    This paper reports on the development of a wearable system using wireless biomedical sensors for ubiquitous healthcare service provisioning. The prototype system is developed to address current healthcare challenges such as increasing cost of services, inability to access diverse services, low quality services and increasing population of elderly as experienced globally. The biomedical sensors proactively collect physiological data of remote patients to recommend diagnostic services. The prototype system is designed to monitor oxygen saturation level (SpO2), Heart Rate (HR), activity and location of the elderly.     Designing A Standard-Based Approach for Security of Healthcare Systems

    Healthcare systems in recent years have had the highest cost of breaches. Data security is one of the most obstacles encountered in the healthcare system, which could cancel the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of medical data. These breaches are expected to increase in the future. Therefore, it has become necessary to develop systems that provide full protection for patients. Healthcare systems security can be improved greatly by involving security requirements in the early phases of system implementation. Usually, the security requirements are only handled from a technical viewpoint during the implementation phases. When building security in the implementation phase, this leads to weakness in system security and an increase in violations. So, this research paper is aimed to improve the security of healthcare systems, by focusing on security requirements in the early phase, and making the healthcare systems less vulnerable to hacking or any external threat by restricting access to healthcare systems. This research paper proposes designing a standard-based approach to the security of the healthcare system, which analyzes and combines system and software security requirements required to gain a secure healthcare system architecture. Both types of security requirements are designed in the healthcare architecture based on the COSMIC ISO/IEC 19761 standards. A case study is introduced for the proposed standard-based approach experimented by using the system and software security requirements specifications to protect the pharmacy system in the healthcare system from ransomware

    In diesem Beitrag wird ein serviceorientiertes Framework(SODA@Med) vorgestellt, das eine einfachere und bessereIntegration medizinischer Geräte inKrankenhausinformationssysteme ermöglichen soll, uminformationslogistische Defizite im Krankenhaus zu reduzieren.Das Framework wurde auf Basis von aus der Literatur undFallstudien erhobenen Anforderungen entwickelt. Es verwendeteinen Pattern-basierten Ansatz, der es erlaubt, existierende SOADesign Patterns und Best Practices zu integrieren. SODA@Medbesteht aus einem konzeptuellen Design sowie einer zugehörigenprototypischen Implementierung. Das Design beinhaltet a) einArchitekturmodell, das die grundlegende Integrationsstrategiefestlegt, b) ein Schichtenmodell, das die Kommunikationswegedefiniert sowie c) ein Modulmodell, das die logischen Einheitendes Frameworks beschreibt. Die Umsetzbarkeit des Designs sowiedie Funktionsfähigkeit des Frameworks konnten durch dessenprototypische Implementierung sowie Labortests belegt werden.Zudem erfolgte eine positive Reflexion der Anforderungenanhand einer kriterienbasierten Evaluation

    Advanced Internet of Things for Personalised Healthcare System: A Survey

    As a new revolution of the Internet, Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly gaining ground as a new research topic in many academic and industrial disciplines, especially in healthcare. Remarkably, due to the rapid proliferation of wearable devices and smartphone, the Internet of Things enabled technology is evolving healthcare from conventional hub based system to more personalised healthcare system (PHS). However, empowering the utility of advanced IoT technology in PHS is still significantly challenging in the area considering many issues, like shortage of cost-effective and accurate smart medical sensors, unstandardized IoT system architectures, heterogeneity of connected wearable devices, multi-dimensionality of data generated and high demand for interoperability. In an effect to understand advance of IoT technologies in PHS, this paper will give a systematic review on advanced IoT enabled PHS. It will review the current research of IoT enabled PHS, and key enabling technologies, major IoT enabled applications and successful case studies in healthcare, and finally point out future research trends and challenges

    INVESTIGATION OF THE ROLE OF SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENTS IN WEB SERVICE QUALITY

    Context/Background: Use of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is crucial to provide the value added services to consumers to achieve their requirements successfully. SLAs also ensure the expected Quality of Service to consumers. Aim: This study investigates how efficient structural representation and management of SLAs can help to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) in Web services during Web service composition. Method: Existing specifications and structures for SLAs for Web services do not fully formalize and provide support for different automatic and dynamic behavioral aspects needed for QoS calculation. This study addresses the issues on how to formalize and document the structures of SLAs for better service utilization and improved QoS results. The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is extended in this study with addition of an SLAAgent, which helps to automate the QoS calculation using Fuzzy Inference Systems, service discovery, service selection, SLA monitoring and management during service composition with the help of structured SLA documents. Results: The proposed framework improves the ways of how to structure, manage and monitor SLAs during Web service composition to achieve the better Quality of Service effectively and efficiently. Conclusions: To deal with different types of computational requirements the automation of SLAs is a challenge during Web service composition. This study shows the significance of the SLAs for better QoS during composition of services in SOA
