We construct a diffeomorphism of the two-dimensional torus which is isotopic to the identity and whose rotation set is not a polygon

Fourth Amendment Implications of Interviewing Suspected Victims of Abuse in School

    Get PDF
(Excerpt) This Note argues that in-school interviews of children regarding child abuse constitute seizures under the Fourth Amendment and that such seizures are unconstitutional absent a warrant, consent, or exigent circumstances. Part I of this Note provides a basic background of Fourth Amendment seizures and discusses the Fourth Amendment\u27s role in the context of child abuse investigations. Part II examines the controversy surrounding in-school interviews of suspected child abuse victims and the implications of such interviews for children\u27s Fourth Amendment rights. Part III proposes a rule for in-school interviews consistent with Fourth Amendment principles. It also demonstrates how such a rule answers the Supreme Court\u27s questions about in-school child abuse interviews that arose in the recent case of Camreta v. Greene, and how it may be translated into guidelines for child protective agencies

Running and testing Java EE applications in embedded mode with JupEEter framework

    Get PDF
This paper presents a design and usage of the author’s innovative framework, called JupEEter. This framework helps running and testing Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) applications [1] and to use Java EE components in Java SE [2] applications. The framework defines the application server and application life-cycle and exploits annotation based programming technique for its configuration

The Technê of Aratus’ Leptê Acrostich

This paper sets out to re-approach the famous leptêacrostich in Aratus’ Phaenomena (783-87) by confronting it with other early Greek acrostichs and the discourse of technê and sophia, which has been shown to play an important role in a gamut of Greek literary texts, including texts very much relevant for the study of Aratus’ acrostich. In particular, there is a tantalizing connection between the acrostich in Aratus’ poem that poeticized Eudoxus’ astronomical work and the so-called Ars Eudoxi, a (pseudo-)Eudoxian acrostich sphragisfrom a second-century BC papyrus

Control of an Inverted Pendulum (Pendubot)

    Get PDF
The aim of this project is to control a double linked inverted pendulum called the "Pendubot". A cascade control scheme has been developed at Laboratoire d'Automatique (EPFL) for this purpose. The structure of the cascade scheme is: Input-output feedback linearization and a linear controller in the inner-loop to assure the control of the fi-angle, the outer loop is responsible for stabilizing the psi-angle. The whole idea is to make the inner loop much faster than the outer so to separate the system and to allow to control the fi and the psi angle separately, This so called timescale separation is necessary for the cascade schemes efficiency. This speed difference between the loops is accomplished by the linear controller. In the outer-loop three different types of controllers will be implemented: a PD-structured controller, a non-linear controller and a Model Predictive controller (MPC)
