IDIOPATHIC NORMAL PRESSURE HYDROCEPHALUS (HAKIM-ADAMS SYNDROME): CLINICAL SYMPTOMS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

    Get PDF
Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus is a chronic steadily progressing disease. Nowadays a vital and acute socially significant problem still has not been solved. The etiology and pathogenesis of this disease remain so far poorly understood. Variable clinical manifestations, as well as difficulties in differential diagnosis with other neurodegenerative diseases - lead to unde r- diagnosing of the illness that causes a significant decrease in patient’s quality of life and even results in disability. The n umber of patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus has been steadily increasing. That is why, the coverage and a full study of this problem is of great interest for a broad circle of medical professionals

Study of double parton interactions in diphoton+dijet events in pp¯ collisions at s√=1.96  TeV

    Get PDF
We use a sample of diphoton+dijet events to measure the effective cross section of double parton interactions, which characterizes the area containing the interacting partons in proton-antiproton collisions, and find it to be σeff=19.3±1.4(stat)±7.8(syst)  mb. The sample was collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in ppÂŻ collisions at s√=1.96  TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 8.7  fb−1

Measurement of the CP-violating phase ϕs in BÂŻs0→Ds+Ds− decays

    Get PDF
We present a measurement of the CP-violating weak mixing phase ϕs using the decay BÂŻ0s→D+sD−s in a data sample corresponding to 3.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. An analysis of the time evolution of the system, which does not use the constraint |λ|=1 to allow for the presence of CP violation in decay, yields ϕs=0.02±0.17(stat)±0.02(syst)  rad, |λ|=0.91+0.18−0.15(stat)±0.02(syst). This result is consistent with the standard model expectation

Observation of Z production in proton-lead collisions at LHCb

    Get PDF
The first observation of Z boson production in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per proton-nucleon pair of root(s) N N = 5TeV is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 nb(-1) collected with the LHCb detector. The Z candidates are reconstructed from pairs of oppositely charged muons with pseudorapidities between 2.0 and 4.5 and transverse momenta above 20 GeV/c. The invariant dimuon mass is restricted to the range 60-120 GeV/c. The Z production cross-section is measured to be sigma(Z ->mu+mu-) (fwd) = 13.5(-4.0)(+5.4)(stat.) +/- 1.2(syst.) nb in the direction of the proton beam and sigma(Z ->mu+mu-) (bwd) = 10.7(-5.1)(+8.4)(stat.) +/- 1.0(syst.) nb in the direction of the lead beam, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic

Measurement of CP violation parameters in B-0 -> DK*(0) decays

    Get PDF
An analysis of B-0 --> DK*(0) decays is presented, where D represents an admixture of D-0 and (D) over bar (0) mesons reconstructed in four separate final states: K-pi(+), pi K--(+), K+K- and pi(+)pi(-). The data sample corresponds to 3.0 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision, collected by the LHCb experiment. Measurements of several observables are performed, including CP asymmetries. The most precise determination is presented of r(B)(DK*(0)), the magnitude of the ratio of the amplitudes of the decay B-0 --> DK+pi(-) with a b --> u or a b --> c transition, in a K pi mass region of +/- 50 MeV/c(2) around the K*(892) mass and for an absolute value of the cosine of the K*(0) helicity angle larger than 0.4
