Geographical and temporal distribution of SARS-CoV-2 clades in the WHO European Region, January to June 2020

    Get PDF
We show the distribution of SARS-CoV-2 genetic clades over time and between countries and outline potential genomic surveillance objectives. We applied three available genomic nomenclature systems for SARS-CoV-2 to all sequence data from the WHO European Region available during the COVID-19 pandemic until 10 July 2020. We highlight the importance of real-time sequencing and data dissemination in a pandemic situation. We provide a comparison of the nomenclatures and lay a foundation for future European genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2.Peer reviewe

Organisational economic mechanism of managing the growth of higher education services quality

    No full text
Introduction. The topicality of the research is determined by the development and grounding of conceptual theoretical and methodological framework for enhancing the management of higher education services quality on meso- and micro-levels, which will enable to provide high quality of graduates as the country's strategic resource. Methodology of the research. Management in the sphere of education is analyzed as a process which is divided into two subprocesses: performance management and development management. The conceptual theoretical and methodological results for enhancing the management in the sphere of higher education services presented in the current research are based on Russian and foreign scientific research. Results of the research. A model of organizational economic mechanism to manage the growth of higher education services quality for meso- and micro-levels has been developed. It has been justified that a part of controlling and supervising operations which are now performed by federal government bodies can be passed to the regional level, which will result in higher effectiveness of managing the system of higher school. The intended effect of implementing this organizational economic mechanism comprises, among other things, the relevance of graduates' quality to the demands of the concerned parties as well as creating a complex and independent system to monitor and evaluate the higher education services quality in federal subjects of the Russian Federation. Discussion. Once the designed method of measuring consequences and results of enhancing the SEQHES management (the System of Evaluating the Quality of Higher Education Services) for meso- and micro-levels has been implemented, its functioning is characterized by processual maximization of meeting the system goals; elimination of the problems concerning the existing evaluating procedures constraints; training specialists in correspondence with quality and quantity demanded by the concerned parties, and so on. Although the research also presents the drawbacks of the authors' method, their influence is not considered to be defining. Conclusion. Enhancing the evaluating procedures management in the sphere of higher education on the level of Russia's federal bodies will allow creating organizational economic premises for the development of competition on the regional markets of educational services and the rise in the effectiveness of regional economics. © 2018

«Educational Company» (technology): Peculiarities of its implementation in the system of professional education

Introduction. A competitive specialist's characteristics and requirements for his/her qualification level underlie the authors' Generalized Model of a Specialist. Its fundamentals are the specialist's personality traits, along with special knowledge, skills and abilities which correspond with the general and professional components of the Federal State Educational Standard and are formed in the three directions (socialization, adaptiveness to the labour market and professionally important qualities). Research methods. The study implies a new imitation method "Educational Company", which is regarded as a system of imitation methods. It has all necessary methodological characteristics and provides the teacher with a range of possibilities, which help him/her to organize the pedagogical process, formulate pedagogical tasks and fulfill them. Research results. The authors propose an algorithm underlying their imitation method "Educational Company", which includes the following stages: the creation of "Educational Company" (its presentation and environment analysis); the performance of "Educational Company" (recruitment, activity control, partner relations establishment); the formation of an automatized workplace. A significant progress in experimental groups shows that the proposed system improves the students' professional skills and abilities, along with their personality traits. Discussion. It is concluded that in order to train a competitive specialist, a teacher of secondary professional school should give priority to the active teaching methods oriented to improve the students' cognitive activity, to reveal and develop their creative potential and other positive qualities. Such methods also provide for solution of important educational-organizational tasks. Conclusion. The revealed practical peculiarities of the imitation methods make it possible to realize the components of Competitive Specialist Model; to reveal the teacher's self-development potential in the chosen profession; to apply the system of imitation methods through the new teaching method "Educational Company". © 2017

© 2020, Springer Science+Business Media LLC. The work describes the synthesis of supramolecular and polymer nanocontainers based on carboxylate resorcinarene derivatives. A comparative analysis of their inclusive characteristics toward hydrophilic and hydrophobic substrates was carried out. The obtained containers and silver nanoparticles were used to develop composite materials, and their catalytic activity in the reduction of {tip}-nitrophenol was examined. It was shown that polymer nanocontainers are more ef cient in binding organic substrates, while the supramolecular containers are more suitable for the design of catalytically active composites. The reduction of {tip}-nitrophenol in the presence of nanocomposites based on supramolecular containers proceeds with a higher rate and does not show an induction period

Doxorubicin delivery by polymer nanocarrier based on N-methylglucamine resorcinarene

© 2020, © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. Herein we describe a simple method for the synthesis of polymer nanocarrier for the doxorubicin delivery. The nanocarrier consists of N-methyl-glucamine resorcinarenes that are covalently bound to phenylboronic acid. The nanocarrier is stable at normal pH but is hydrolysed at pH below 6. It demonstrates low cytotoxicity and haemolytic activity. Doxorubicin was successfully loaded into the nanocarriers cavity and its release occurs at pH. Flow cytometry data showed that the carrier improves the penetration of doxorubicin into M-Hela cancer cell lines. The encapsulated doxorubicin demonstrates higher cytotoxicity towards the cancer cells
