The popular graphic is a communicational phenomenon that is generated in urban environments and represents the graphic imagination of a society as well as the essence of its culture. The analysis and study of the plastic and aesthetic elements that are part of the popular Mexican graphic are fundamental to understand the identity of the graphic design of this country. This research documents and analyzes the main graphic references that make up the broad universe of urban popular graphics, its actors, its needs and the sometimes involuntary contribution to a unique and differential aesthetic as a piece of a culture that identifies and distinguishes itself for its colors and the drama in its images to the rest of the other countries. This research is carried out based on the historical - logical and analytical - synthetic methods. Its characteristics, peculiarities and direct and indirect effects are shown in Mexican graphic design. The results of this research can help to build a historical and referential framework of the fundamental traits that gave rise to the current graphic design, as well as help to understand the context and needs that originated it and on which a large part of its identity rests.La gráfica popular es un fenómeno comunicacional que se genera en los medios urbanos y representa el imaginario gráfico de una sociedad así como esencia de su cultura. Temporal variability of waves at the proton cyclotron frequency upstream from Mars: Implications for Mars distant hydrogen exosphere

    Get PDF
We report on the temporal variability of the occurrence of waves at the local proton cyclotron frequency upstream from the Martian bow shock from Mars Global Surveyor observations during the first aerobraking and science phasing orbit periods. Observations at high southern latitudes during minimum-to-mean solar activity show that the wave occurrence rate is significantly higher around perihelion/ southern summer solstice than around the spring and autumn equinoxes. A similar trend is observed in the hydrogen (H) exospheric density profiles over the Martian dayside and South Pole obtained from a model including UV thermospheric heating effects. In spite of the complexity in the ion pickup and plasma wave generation and evolution processes, these results support the idea that variations in the occurrence of waves could be used to study the temporal evolution of the distant Martian H corona and its coupling with the thermosphere at altitudes currently inaccessible to direct measurements.Fil: Bertucci, Cesar. Synthesis and Characterisation of ASA-PEEK Composites for Fused Filament Fabrication

    Get PDF
In this paper, a series of polymer composites made from acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) and poly (ether ether ketone) (PEEK) were manufactured. ASA acts as a polymer matrix while PEEK is loaded in the form of micro-particles that act as a reinforcing filler. The composites were compounded by single screw extrusion and then, different specimens were manufactured either via injection moulding (IM) or fused filament fabrication (FFF). Two different types of PEEK (commercial and reused) in different concentrations (3 and 6 wt.%) were tested and their influence in the mechanical, structural, and thermal properties were studied. It was observed that reused PEEK enhanced the stiffness and tensile strength and thermal stability of the composites both, for injected and printed specimens. This evidences the suitability of these composites as potential candidates as novel materials with enhanced properties following an approach of circular economy

Author's accepted version (postprint)This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Springer in Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins on 03/04/2021Available online: https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s12602-021-09782-8.pdfWithin the food-producing sectors, aquaculture is the one that has developed the greatest growth in recent decades, currently representing almost 50% of the world’s edible fish. The diseases can affect the final production in intensive aquaculture; in seabass, aquaculture vibriosis is one of the most important diseases producing huge economical losses in this industry. The usual methodology to solve the problems associated with the bacterial pathology has been the use of antibiotics, with known environmental consequences. This is why probiotic bacteria are proposed as an alternative fight against pathogenic bacteria. The aim of this study was to analyse a strain of Bacillus velezensis D-18 isolated from a wastewater sample collected from a fish farm, for use as probiotics in aquaculture. The strain was evaluated in vitro through various mechanisms of selection, obtaining as results for growth inhibition by co-culture a reduction of 30%; B. velezensis D-18 was able to survive at 1.5-h exposure to 10% seabass bile, and at pH 4, its survival is 5% and reducing by 60% the adhesion capacity of V. anguillarum 507 to the mucus of seabass and in vivo by performing a challenge. Therefore, in conclusion, we consider B. velezensis D-18 isolate from wastewater samples collected from the farms as a good candidate probiotic in the prevention of the infection by Vibrio anguillarum 507 in European seabass after in vitro and biosafety assays.acceptedVersio

A Comparison of Photoelastic and Finite Elements Analysis in Internal Connection and Bone Level Dental Implants

    Get PDF
This study is a contribution to our understanding of the mechanical behaviour of dental implants through the use of the finite element and the photoelastic methods. Two internal connection and bone level dental implants with different design have been analysed (M-12 by Oxtein S.L., Zaragoza, Spain, and ASTRA, from Dentsply Sirona, Charlotte, NC, USA), evaluating the stress distribution produced by axial stresses and a comparison has been established between them, as well as between the two methods used, in order to validate the adopted hypotheses and correlate the numerical modelling performed with experimental tests. To load the implant in laboratory testing, a column was placed, such that the loading point was about 9.3 mm from the upper free surface of the resin plate. This column connects the implant with the weights used to define the test load. In turn, support for both plates was achieved by two 6 mm bolts 130 mm apart and located on a parallel line with the resin (flush with the maximum level of the implant), at a depth of 90 mm. The results obtained with both methods used were similar enough. The comparison of results is fundamentally visual, but ensures that, at least in the range of forces used, both methods are similar. Therefore, the photoelastic method can be used to confirm in a real way the virtual conditions of the finite element models, with the implications in the investigation of dental implants that this entails

Sitotroga cerealella-resistant mexican maize races (Zea mays L.), new sources of resistance for commercial maize breeding

    Get PDF
Sitotroga cerealella (Oliv.) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is one of the most important post-harvest pests of maize Zea mays L. Some Mexican maize races (Z. mays) could be a novel source of resistance against S. cerealella to improve commercial maize varieties, lines and hybrids. We studied the resistance of Mexican maize races, recollected at Chihuahua State to S. cerealella. We focused on antibiosis and tolerance of maize to S. cerealella. Cristalino-079 maize race shows low level of consumption in grams and percentage, increased larvae mortality before to entering the seed. In addition, Cristalino-079 reduced first adult’s generation and show the largest biological cycle. Due to the small number of emerged adults, there was very little grain weight loss in resistant maize race. The compound that causes high mortality of larvae before to entering the grain is in the pericarp of resistant maize races. The compound that causes longest development time is in the endosperm and embryo. Cristalino-079 show the better level of resistance to S. cerealella infestation in almost all traits studied and this can be used as source of resistance for maize breeding

FURNISH : new methodologies to intervene in public space

    Get PDF
Descripció del recurs: 23 maig 2023FURNISH is the acronym of Fast Urban Responses for New Inclusive Spaces and Habitat, a project centred on transforming streets by repurposing them. The project was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the emergency triggered the need to creatively reframe the general understanding, not only of our behaviour, but also of our environment. Public spaces should evolve and become more inclusive places for everyone, especially for the most vulnerable. Under these challenging circumstances, FURNISH, a project led by CARNET, emerged to rethink the public space, while taking action in an inclusive and necessary manner. This book summarises the project since its inception in 2020, the new methodologies applied to intervene the public space, and the fantastic experimental results. Enjoy the book!
