Dynamics of change in rat arterial pressure under conditions of immobilization

    Get PDF
Emotional stress developed in immobilized rats was shown to be accompanied by changes in the regulation of arterial pressure and the frequency of cardiac contractions. A group of adapting rats displayed definite resistance to emotional stress, while a group of rats incapable of adapting to acute emotional stress died with characteristics of cardiovascular insufficiency. The mechanisms providing resistance to emotional stress in numerous conflict situations were analyzed

Digital platforms are actively embedded in socio-economic systems, causing transformation problems and creating the potential for their growth. This paper presents the results of a study of a number of processes that determine the functioning of a digital platform for the interaction of subjects of housing and communal services (HCS). The relevance of the study is due to the active development of digital technologies in the industry, which is associated with the implementation of a number of federal projects and an objective change in the equipment and technologies for the provision of housing and communal services. The proposed article is also a continuation of the author’s earlier studies of the effectiveness of the digital platform for housing and communal services [17, 18]. The purpose of the study is the formation of promising directions for the development of the State Information System of Housing and Communal Services (GIS HUS). The study used methods of generalization and classification in the analysis of information sources and the formation of groups of influence factors. SWOT-analysis was used to systematize the factors and develop development directions. The main results of the work are: generalization of existing studies of the processes of development of digital platforms and features of the functioning of the GIS housing and communal services in Russia; systematization of factors of the external and internal environment that affect the development of GIS housing and communal services using SWOT analysis; development of directions for the development of the GIS housing and communal services platform. The novelty of the study lies in the developed on the basis of the systematization of the factors of influence of promising directions for the development of GIS housing and communal services. Key takeaways: – the internal environment of the GIS housing and communal services is characterized by the economic isolation of the system operator, the availability of up-to-date, unique databases on the processes of housing and communal services, wide integration with other digital resources, the economic inefficiency of the platform, difficulties with loading information by suppliers, a limited list of services; – external factors of influence are: favorable state policy, stable demand for housing and communal services; high level of «administrative pressure»; emergence of alternative platforms and services; insufficient number of «qualified users» of the platform; – actual directions for the development of the GIS housing and communal services are: improving the quality of information on the platform, expanding the functionality of the GIS housing and communal services by providing additional services, the use of big data and artificial intelligence technologies by the authorities in decision-making and the development of programs for the development of the industry. The directions of development identified as a result of the study can be used by the authorities in the implementation of the policy of digital transformation of the housing and communal sector. Promising areas for further research are: forms and directions of integration of GIS housing and communal services with private service developers, the marketing strategy of the platform operator in the face of increasing competition from alternative digital resources, the problem of ensuring the profitability (break-even operation) of the platform, the development of a risk map, models of digital competencies for employees of housing and communal organizations

Energy spectrum of cascade showers induced by cosmic ray muons in the range from 50 GeV to 5 TeV

The energy spectrum of cascade showers induced by electromagnetic interactions of high energy muons of horizontal cosmic ray flux in iron absorber was measured. The total observation time exceeded 22,000 hours. Both the energy spectrum and angular distributions of cascade showers are fairly described in terms of the usual muon generation processes, with a single power index of the parent meson spectrum over the muon energy range from 150 GeV to 5 TeV

Electron spectroscopy of carbon materials: Experiment and theory

    Get PDF
We present a comparative spectroscopic study of carbon as graphite, diamond and C60 using C1s K-edge electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), X-ray emission spectroscopy, and theoretical modelling. The first principles calculations of these spectra are obtained in the local density approximation using a self-consistent Gaussian basis pseudo-potential method. Calculated spectra show excellent agreement with experiment and are able to discriminate not only between various carbon hybridisations but also local variation in environment. Core-hole effects on the calculated spectra are also investigated. For the first time, the EEL spectrum of carbyne is calculated

The role of the state in the financing sources’ formation of industrial enterprises’ innovative activities

    Get PDF
Currently, the external conditions for the functioning of industrial enterprises are formed in such a way that the achievement of their goals is seen impossible without the implementation of innovative activities. Due to the high cost of innovations, as well as the need to conduct these processes on an ongoing basis, industrial enterprises lack their own funds to finance innovation activities. The state is interested in the innovative development of industrial enterprises. This is one of the reasons why it participates in the formation of their funding sources. The article substantiates the need for state support, as well as analyzes the options for its provision by type of financing sources. For each type of sources, options for providing large-scale support, implying a large coverage area, as well as point-directed support, are also highlighted

An interpretative phenomenological analysis of stress and coping in first year undergraduates

In the UK, changes to the higher education system have increased the range of stressors experienced by students above those traditionally associated with the transition to university. Despite this, there is little qualitative research examining how students experience and cope with the adjustment to university. The experience of the transition was investigated in depth amongst 10 first year UK undergraduates. Purposive sampling resulted in a group with demographics similar to national statistics on UK undergraduates. Semi-structured interviews were used beginning with a content specific vignette to develop rapport. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was utilised to analyse the transcripts and quality checks were implemented to increase the validity of the analysis. Five main themes were identified: all the change, with subthemes of independent living, homesickness, differences between post-compulsory education and university; expectations of university; academic focus with subthemes of self-discipline, motivation, learning from experience; support network with subthemes of establishing a support network, support for coping with problems; and difficulties with subthemes of difficulties experienced with housemates, finances and employment, and academic difficulties. Students used a range of coping strategies. By identifying the role of positive psychological strengths such as optimism, hope, self-efficacy and self-control in coping with stress and facilitating positive adaptation, the study locates positive psychological strengths within a transactional understanding of stress and provides depth and relevance to their role in facilitating adjustment. Such qualitative research is rare in the positive psychology and stress literature. Suggestions for easing the transition are made

Contamination Control and Assay Results for the Majorana Demonstrator Ultra Clean Components

The MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR is a neutrinoless double beta decay experiment utilizing enriched Ge-76 detectors in 2 separate modules inside of a common solid shield at the Sanford Underground Research Facility. The DEMONSTRATOR has utilized world leading assay sensitivities to develop clean materials and processes for producing ultra-pure copper and plastic components. This experiment is now operating, and initial data provide new insights into the success of cleaning and processing. Post production copper assays after the completion of Module 1 showed an increase in U and Th contamination in finished parts compared to starting bulk material. A revised cleaning method and additional round of surface contamination studies prior to Module 2 construction have provided evidence that more rigorous process control can reduce surface contamination. This article describes the assay results and discuss further studies to take advantage of assay capabilities for the purpose of maintaining ultra clean fabrication and process design.Comment: Proceedings of Low Radioactivity Techniques (LRT May 2017, Seoul
