Business Practices and Procedures Regarding Smartphone Security
Smartphones are having a transformational effect on the way that users access, use, and store information. Smartphones have essentially blurred the line of what is considered a phone, becoming the pinnacle multi-tasking devices of today’s world. Current smartphones have their own dedicated operating system, Bluetooth capabilities, GPS, WiFi, constant network connection, PC connectivity, and are internet enabled, leading them to have similar security risks as that of a computer. Businesses are now worrying about the information employees are storing on these devices and want to find new ways to protect it (Schiller, 2011). Smartphone capabilities used for business application will be investigated for their potential vulnerabilities due to lack of employees’ precautions and smartphone usage
On board sampling of the rockfish and lingcod commerical passenger fishing vessel industry in northern and central California, May 1987 to December 1991

Fishery Technicians sampled catches on board 690 Commercial
Passenger Fishing Vessel (CPFV) trips targeting rockfish and lingcod from the general port areas of Fort Bragg, Bodega Bay, San Francisco, Monterey, and Morro Bay. Data are presented for species composition by port area, year, and month, for catch-per-unit-effort, mean length, and length frequency of lingcod and the 18 most frequently observed rockfish species, and for trends in fishing effort related to fishing time, depth, and distance from port. Total catch estimates are presented based on unadjusted logbook records, logbook records adjusted by sampling data and compliance rates, and effort data from a marine recreational fishing statistics survey.
Average catch of kept fish per angler day was 11.8 and average catch of kept fish per angler hour was 3.7. A trend of an increasing frequency of trips to deep (>40 fm) locations was observed in the Bodega Bay, San Francisco, and Monterey areas from 1988 to 1990-91. No trend was evident relative to trip frequency and distance from port.
A total of 74 species was observed caught during the study.
Rockfishes comprised 88.5% to 97.9% by number of the observed catch by port area. The five most frequently observed species were chilipepper, blue, yellowtail, and widow rockfishes, and bocaccio, with lingcod ranking seventh.
In general, mean length and catch-per-angler-hour of sport
fishes caught by CPFV anglers varied considerably and did not show steady declines during the study period. However, port-specific areas of major concern were identified for
chilipepper, lingcod, and black rockfish, and to a lesser
extent brown, canary, vermilion, yelloweye, olive, and widow rockfish. These areas of concern included steadily declining catch rate, steadily declining mean length, and a high percentage of sexually immature fish in the sampled-catch.
Recent sampling of the commercial hook-and-line fishery in
northern and central California indicated that most species of rockfishes taken by CPFV anglers are also harvested commercially. (261pp.

Movements of feral camels in central Australia determined by satellite telemetry
Movements of two female one-humped camels in central Australia were tracked using satellite telemetry between March 1986 and July 1987. During that time both animals travelled a minimum distance of over 1000 km within a radius of 125 km for one animal, and 200 km for the other. However, their movements were uite punctuated and both animals spent periods of up to several months in rleatively small areas before moving over longer distances to new areas. Both camels moved at greater rates overnight. An activity index, probably measuring feeding rate, declined during the study period for both animals. Patchy and sporadic rainfall may explain some of these results
"Pudding mold" band drives large thermopower in NaCoO
In the present study, we pin down the origin of the coexistence of the large
thermopower and the large conductivity in NaCoO. It is revealed that
not just the density of states (DOS), the effective mass, nor the band width,
but the peculiar {\it shape} of the band referred to as the "pudding
mold" type, which consists of a dispersive portion and a somewhat flat portion,
is playing an important role in this phenomenon. The present study provides a
new guiding principle for designing good thermoelectric materials.Comment: 5 page
Analysis of stellar spectra with 3D and NLTE models
Models of radiation transport in stellar atmospheres are the hinge of modern
astrophysics. Our knowledge of stars, stellar populations, and galaxies is only
as good as the theoretical models, which are used for the interpretation of
their observed spectra, photometric magnitudes, and spectral energy
distributions. I describe recent advances in the field of stellar atmosphere
modelling for late-type stars. Various aspects of radiation transport with 1D
hydrostatic, LTE, NLTE, and 3D radiative-hydrodynamical models are briefly

A concurrent ultra-fractionated radiation therapy and temozolomide treatment; a promising therapy for newly diagnosed, inoperable glioblastoma
International audienceWe report on a phase II clinical trial to determine the effect of a concurrent ultra-fractionated radiotherapy and temozolomide treatment in inoperable glioblastoma patients. A phase II study opened; patients over 18 years of age who were able to give informed consent and had histologically proven, newly diagnosed inoperable diagnosed and supratentorial glioblastoma were eligible. Three doses of 0.75 Gy spaced apart by at least four hours were delivered daily, five days a week for six consecutive weeks for a total of 67.5Gy. Chemotherapy was administered during the same period, which consisted of temozolomide given at a dose of 75 mg/m2, for seven days a week. After a four-week break, chemotherapy was resumed for up to six cycles of adjuvant temozolomide treatment, given every 28 days, according to the standard five-day regimen. Tolerance and toxicity were the primary endpoints; survival and progression-free survival were the secondary endpoints. In total 40 patients were enrolled in this study, 31 men and 9 women. The median age was 58 years, and the median Karnofsky performance status was 80. The concomitant ultra fractionated radiotherapy and temozolomide treatment was well tolerated. Complete responses were seen in four patients, and partial responses were reported in seven patients. The median survival from the initial diagnosis was 16 months. Several long-term survivors were noted. Concurrent ultra-fractionated radiation therapy and temozolomide treatment is well accepted by the patients. The results showed encouraging survival rates for these unfavorable patients
Change in the diet of sooty owls (Tyto tenebricosa) since European settlement: from terrestrial to arboreal prey and increased overlap with powerful owls
The current diet of the sooty owl (Tyto tenebricosa) was determined by analysing freshly regurgitated pellets collected beneath their roosting sites in East Gippsland, Victoria. Comparisons were then made with: (i) prehistoric and historic diet from bone deposits found in cave roosts, and (ii) diet of a sympatric owl species, the powerful owl (Ninox strenua). Sooty owls consumed a large array of terrestrial mammal species before European settlement, but only three terrestrial species were detected in their current diet, a reduction of at least eight species since European settlement. To compensate, sooty owls have increased their consumption of arboreal prey from 55% to 81% of their diet. Arboreal species are also a major component of the powerful owl diet and this prey shift by sooty owls has increased dietary overlap between these two species. Predation by foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and other feral species is likely to have reduced the amount of terrestrial prey available to sooty owls since European settlement. Investigation of changes in the diet of sooty owls may offer a unique monitoring system for evaluating the ability of fox-control strategies to influence increases in numbers of critical-weight-range mammals.<br /
Bispectrum of the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect
We perform a detailed study of the bispectrum of the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich
effect. Using an analytical model for the pressure profiles of the intracluster
medium, we demonstrate the SZ bispectrum to be a sensitive probe of the
amplitude of the matter power spectrum parameter sigma_8. We find that the
bispectrum amplitude scales as B_SZ ~ sigma_8^{11-12}, compared to that of the
power spectrum, which scales as A_tSZ ~ sigma_8^{7-9}. We show that the SZ
bispectrum is principally sourced by massive clusters at redshifts around
z~0.4, which have been well-studied observationally. This is in contrast to the
SZ power spectrum, which receives a significant contribution from less-well
understood low-mass and high-redshift groups and clusters. Therefore, the
amplitude of the bispectrum at l~3000 is less sensitive to astrophysical
uncertainties than the SZ power spectrum. We show that current high resolution
CMB experiments should be able to detect the SZ bispectrum amplitude with high
significance, in part due to the low contamination from extra-galactic
foregrounds. A combination of the SZ bispectrum and the power spectrum can
sharpen the measurements of thermal and kinetic SZ components and help
distinguish cosmological and astrophysical information from high-resolution CMB
