Vocal piano accompaniment: A constant research towards emancipation (2)

This is the second and last article in the series dedicated to the investigation of the evolution of vocal piano accompaniment through history and the role-played by the piano in its relationship with the voice. If the previous chapter focused from the beginnings of piano accompaniment to Franz Schubert, this one will take up again the analysis of the piano part from the last lieder of Franz Schubert to Arnold Schoenberg. The research method used continues to be based on the musical analysis of the piano part, addressing both issues of the piano itself and its link with the text and the vocal part. By means of musical examples of different composers, the article investigates all those aspects that provide evidence of the change in the role of the piano in the correspondence of the piano with the voice and its repercussion on the final result of the work. In this way, we will look at the history of piano accompaniment for voice and see how the influence of Schubert's conception of vocal piano accompaniment materializes in contemporary and later composers, as well as the crucial change in the history of the piano as an accompanying instrument introduced by Schubert. The results and conclusions drawn from the evolution presented in these two articles are presented at the end of the article, based on the different aspects involved in the musical event, such as rhythm, harmony or texture

De Zapata a Chiapas o la Revolución Mexicana no concluida: una reflexión desde España

Aproximación desde España a la Revolución mexicana por definición, es decir la iniciada en 1910, que tuvo sus máximos protagonistas en E. Zapata y D. Arango (“Pancho Villa”), e institucionalizada después en el marco de la Constitución de 1917 con V. Carranza, A. Obregón, P.E. Calles y L. Cárdenas, entre otros. Todos ellos vinculados al Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), de orientación democrático-socialista, perpetuado en el poder durante gran parte del siglo XX hasta su derrocamiento el año 2000 por una alternativa de centroderecha (Partido de Acción Nacional –PAN–), si bien el PRI se ha impuesto de nuevo en las recientes elecciones generales de julio de 2012. Es analizada, aparte la Revolución en sí misma considerada, la conflictiva dinámica político-social del país en ese dilatado período y los esfuerzos practicados para la consecución de los objetivos revolucionarios básicos. En particular la reforma agraria, reducir la desigualdad social, elevar el nivel cultural y asegurar un crecimiento económico sólido y sostenible. Objetivos que pese a logros parciales concretos distan de haberse alcanzado, si bien en los últimos tiempos viene abriéndose una nueva y esperanzadora andadura. Especial atención al programa revolucionario y su aplicación, a la dinámica político-institucional, a las transformaciones socio-económicas, a la participación española en los logros alcanzados por la actuación de inmigrados laborales, inversores y exilados políticos –sobre todo los del exilio republicano de 1939–, y a la proyección internacional de la Revolución mexicana.This is an approach from Spain to the Mexican Revolution by definition. That is, the one initiated in 1910, whose best representatives were E. Zapata and D. Arango (“Pacho Villa”). Revolution that was institutionalized later within the framework of 1917 Constitution with V. Carranza, A. Obregon, P.E. Calles and L. Cardenas, among others. All of them linked to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). A democratic-socialist oriented party, perpetuated in power for a large part of the twentieth century until it was overthrown in 2000 by a centerright alternative (National Action Party -PAM-). Regardless that the PRI has been imposed again in the recent general elections in July 2012. In this paper, we analyze, apart from the above-mentioned Revolution, the controversial socio-political dynamics of the country in a long period of time as well as the efforts made to achieve its corresponding revolutionary goals. Namely, to establish the land reform, to reduce social inequality, to raise the cultural standards and to ensure a strong and sustainable economic growth. Objectives that despite some partial specific success are still far from being achieved, although in recent times it is starting a new and promising stage. The present work also pays special attention to phenomena like the revolutionary program and its implementation, the political and institutional dynamics and to some socio-economic changes. Lastly, this study touches upon some further aspects such as the Spanish participation in the progress achieved by the labor immigrants, investors and political exiles -especially those ones related to the 1939 Republican exile- and the international projection of the Mexican Revolution

La adaptación territorial de las diócesis españolas tradicionales a las provincias civiles: el caso del obispado de Cartagena (1851-1957).

La adaptación territorial de las diócesis españolas a las provincias civiles era una necesidad en aras de una mayor operatividad y eficacia. Tanto por el rápido incremento de la población desde el siglo XVIII como por el excesivo territorio de algunos obispados, la necesidad de eliminar absurdos enclaves heredados del pasado, y para evitar innecesarias complicaciones administrativas. Pero también, y sobre todo para lograr una más eficaz atención pastoral de los creyentes. Tal reajuste territorial venía siendo planteado desde antiguo y por ello fue previsto en el artículo 7.° del Concordato de España con la Santa Sede de 16 de marzo de 1851. Pero las resistencias por causa de los intereses creados fueron tan tenaces, que su aplicación, salvo excepciones, se dejó esperar un siglo. El presente artículo analiza el caso de la diócesis de Cartagena, una de las más extensas del país por cubrir en todo o en parte cuatro provincias (Murcia, Albacete, Alicante y Almería). Aquí el reajuste territorial no concluiría hasta 1957

On the uniform strong consistency of local polynomial regression under dependence conditions

The acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities related to the reading and writing of music implies a degree of considerable difficulty. Traditional approaches to music education are directed toward the knowled- ge of western music notation symbols. Its aim is that the student can used, so precise and effective, a system specific and exten- ded universally decrypted scores or score musical ideas invented or heard. However, we consider interesting and effective use of alternative spellings, as an intermediate step, before presenting the pace and the metric through conventional notation. The practice of these systems is well suited for learning music in the pre-school and pri- mary stage, adapts to the level and “psy- choevolutive” of the child developmentand enhances their motivation and inter- est. This article seeks to clarify some misconceptions that have been spread about musical improvisation. It is offered as a new synthesis and classification of different types of improvisation and the Bank compares the presence of improvisation in each methodology. Its purpose is to specify those aspects that provide original music in the teaching of musical expression.Este artículo pretende clarificar algunos conceptos erróneos que se han difundido en torno a la improvisación musical. Se ofrece como resultado una síntesis y clasificación de los distintos tipos de improvisación y se realiza una comparativa de la presencia de la improvisación en cada metodología. La Big Band, la orquesta de jazz por excelencia : origen, instrumentación, interpretación y técnicas básicas de composición y arreglos

Es cierto que la agrupación instrumental más difundida en España, especialmente en la Comunidad Valenciana, es la banda de música, ésta se ha constituido como una sólida institución que compagina y complementa la formación de los jóvenes y las enseñanzas profesionales de música. Sin embargo, hemos comprobado en estos últimos años el auge de otro tipo de formación instrumental: la big band. Aunque en muchas ocasiones se han desarrollado en el seno de las sociedades musicales, al igual que las agrupaciones juveniles, pequeñas orquestas y todo tipo de formaciones de música de cámara, la big band responde a criterios estilísticos de ejecución y composición distintos a la banda y a la música de tradición europea. El presente artículo tiene carácter formativo y presenta algunos apuntes sobre el origen, la instrumentación, la interpretación y las técnicas básicas de composición y arreglos de la orquesta de jazz por excelencia

Formación rítmica: los ritmos aditivos y su aplicación pedagógica en la educación musical

El sentido rítmico constituye una cualidad innata en el niño que favorece su iniciación en la educación musical de forma activa. El movimiento, el lenguaje y la percusión corporal se han consolidado como recursos didácticos imprescindibles en la clase de rítmica. Sin embargo, en la realidad educativa actual y en los niveles superiores al de la etapa inicial, se observa una falta de conciencia y una limitación de las amplias posibilidades que nos ofrece el ritmo. Este hecho está influido, en parte, por el tipo de contenidos que se trabajan, enfocados hacia la métrica y el pensamiento lógico-matemático prescinden de la vivencia y de la percepción musical. Se propone el ritmo aditivo como complemento de formación en la educación rítmica. El artículo consta de dos partes diferenciadas: una revisión teórica y valoración propia que pretenden justificar y analizar la naturaleza de estos esquemas rítmicos y su aplicación en el aula mediante la elaboración y desarrollo de una atractiva propuesta didáctica.The rhythmic sense constitutes an innate quality in children that favors their active initiation into music education. Movement, speech, and corporeal percussion have emerged as essential learning resources for rhythm classes. In the current educational situation and in levels beyond the initial stage, however, there exists a lack of awareness and a limitation of the ample possibilities offered by rhythm. This attitude is influenced in part by the type of content studied, which focuses on the metric and logical-mathematical but ignores lived experience and musical perception. As a remedy, this article proposes supplemental (or additive) rhythms to complement training in rhythmic education. The explication consists of two parts: a theoretical review and self-assessment that seek to justify and analyze the nature of these rhythmic patterns and their application in the classroom through the design and development of an tempting teaching proposal
