A plan to present the Greeks abroad through the Project method

The present paper is concerned with students’ sensitization about the Greeks abroad who are introduced through the Project method to reinforce national awareness, especially during an economic crisis period when the economic choices followed by Greece are disapproved. The dynamics of the Greek communities abroad towards the economic and cultural development of the countries of reception and the concurrent enhancement of their bonds with Greece are pinpointed. The contact between the Greek native students and the offspring of the Greeks abroad is pursued towards an exchange of viewpoints, considerations and information about issues of politics, economy and culture. As a result, they all have a sense of solidarity in an expanded Greece encompassing the Greeks’ communities abroad. History and the History of Civilization are utilized to present this topic through the Project method. This way, emphasis is placed on migration, national identity, solidarity and the dynamics developed by the population mobility in the globalized societies. The Project method forms the suitable ground to cultivate and develop such objectives. Thus, students will formulate perceptions and examine the specific issues from a different perspective. A combination of theoretical issues of nationalism with a post-modern narration about nationalism in the globalized societies is conducted, where the national identity is reinforced and the citizens’ role in the globalized societies is not overlooked.

Child sexual abuse is a phenomenon that scientific community investigates in recent decades. Although the incidents of child sexual abuse are increasing, there is a large gap in research regarding their correct diagnosis, the methods needed and the contribution of psychometry and technology to it. The aim of this literature review is the analysis of the psychometric properties of basic abuse screening questionnaires as well as the research that exists around the effectiveness and barriers of the examination by health professionals. The questionnaires analyzed are ICAST, CTQ-CTQ / SF, ETI-ETISR-ETI-SR / SF which assess traumatic childhood experiences or a history of abuse. Although there is evidence regarding the reliability of the questionnaires, there are gaps as for their validity. The present research shows that the most powerful screening questionnaires for child sexual abuse are ICAST, CTQ / SF and ETI-SR / SF with remarkable restrictions on each. As for the physical examination by health professionals, the correct diagnosis depends on the scientific specialization, the examination time and interpersonal and psychological factors. History-taking and multidisciplinary approach seem to play a very important role in the diagnosis of sexual abus

Psychosocial interventions for community-dwelling people following diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia: findings of a systematic scoping review

National policies and evidence reviews recommend psychosocial interventions (PIs) as an essential support, particularly in the period following dementia diagnosis. However, availability and uptake of these interventions are comparatively low. One of the reasons for this is that clinicians lack information about what might be provided and the potential benefits of different interventions. This article identifies and describes PIs for community-dwelling people following diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia and presents the available evidence to inform practice decisions. A systematic scoping review was employed to map the evidence relating to PIs for this group. This identified 63 relevant studies, testing 69 interventions, which could be grouped into 6 intervention categories: 20 cognition-oriented, 11 behavior-oriented, 11 stimulation-oriented, 13 emotion-oriented, 5 social-oriented, and 9 multimodal. There were three targets for outcome measurement of these PIs: the person with dementia, the family caregiver, and the person–caregiver dyad. Over 154 outcome measures were identified in the studies, with outcomes measured across 11 main domains. The lack of a classification framework for PIs means it is difficult to create a meaningful synthesis of the breadth of relevant evidence to guide clinical practice. Possible dimensions of a classification framework are proposed to begin to address this gap
