    Detection of SUSY Signals in Stau Neutralino Co-annihilation Region at the LHC

    We study the prospects of detecting the signal in the stau neutralino co-annihilation region at the LHC using tau leptons. The co-annihilation signal is characterized by the stau and neutralino mass difference (dM) to be 5-15 GeV to be consistent with the WMAP measurement of the cold dark matter relic density as well as all other experimental bounds within the minimal supergravity model. Focusing on tau's from neutralino_2 --> tau stau --> tau tau neutralino_1 decays in gluino and squark production, we consider inclusive MET+jet+3tau production, with two tau's above a high E_T threshold and a third tau above a lower threshold. Two observables, the number of opposite-signed tau pairs minus the number of like-signed tau pairs and the peak position of the di-tau invariant mass distribution, allow for the simultaneous determination of dM and M_gluino. For dM = 9 GeV and M_gluino = 850 GeV with 30 fb^-1 of data, we can measure dM to 15% and M_gluino to 6%.Comment: 4 pages LaTex, 3 figures. Results from the Super Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (SuperCDMS) experiment at Soudan

    We report the result of a blinded search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) using the majority of the SuperCDMS Soudan dataset. With an exposure of 1690 kg days, a single candidate event is observed, consistent with expected backgrounds. This analysis (combined with previous Ge results) sets an upper limit on the spin-independent WIMP--nucleon cross section of 1.4×10441.4 \times 10^{-44} (1.0×10441.0 \times 10^{-44}) cm2^2 at 46 GeV/c2c^2. These results set the strongest limits for WIMP--germanium-nucleus interactions for masses >>12 GeV/c2c^2

    Search for Second-Generation Scalar Leptoquarks in ppˉ\bm{p \bar{p}} Collisions at s\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV

    Get PDF
    Results on a search for pair production of second generation scalar leptoquark in ppˉp \bar{p} collisions at s\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV are reported. The data analyzed were collected by the CDF detector during the 2002-2003 Tevatron Run II and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 198 pb1^{-1}. Leptoquarks (LQ) are sought through their decay into (charged) leptons and quarks, with final state signatures represented by two muons and jets and one muon, large transverse missing energy and jets. We observe no evidence for LQLQ production and derive 95% C.L. upper limits on the LQLQ production cross sections as well as lower limits on their mass as a function of β\beta, where β\beta is the branching fraction for LQμqLQ \to \mu q.Comment: 9 pages (3 author list) 5 figure

    Study of CP violation in Dalitz-plot analyses of B0 --> K+K-KS, B+ --> K+K-K+, and B+ --> KSKSK+

    We perform amplitude analyses of the decays B0K+KKS0B^0 \to K^+K^-K^0_S, B+K+KK+B^+ \rightarrow K^+K^-K^+, and B+KS0KS0K+B^+ \to K^0_S K^0_S K^+, and measure CP-violating parameters and partial branching fractions. The results are based on a data sample of approximately 470×106470\times 10^6 BBˉB\bar{B} decays, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy BB factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. For B+K+KK+B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+, we find a direct CP asymmetry in B+ϕ(1020)K+B^+ \to \phi(1020)K^+ of ACP=(12.8±4.4±1.3)A_{CP}= (12.8\pm 4.4 \pm 1.3)%, which differs from zero by 2.8σ2.8 \sigma. For B0K+KKS0B^0 \to K^+K^-K^0_S, we measure the CP-violating phase βeff(ϕ(1020)KS0)=(21±6±2)\beta_{\rm eff} (\phi(1020)K^0_S) = (21\pm 6 \pm 2)^\circ. For B+KS0KS0K+B^+ \to K^0_S K^0_S K^+, we measure an overall direct CP asymmetry of ACP=(45+4±2)A_{CP} = (4 ^{+4}_{-5} \pm 2)%. We also perform an angular-moment analysis of the three channels, and determine that the fX(1500)f_X(1500) state can be described well by the sum of the resonances f0(1500)f_0(1500), f2(1525)f_2^{\prime}(1525), and f0(1710)f_0(1710).Comment: 35 pages, 68 postscript figures. v3 - minor modifications to agree with published versio

    Prospects for Searching for Excited Leptons during RunII of the Fermilab Tevatron

    This letter presents a study of prospects of searching for excited leptons during RunII of the Fermilab Tevatron. We concentrate on single and pair production of excited electrons in the photonic decay channel in one CDF/DO detector equivalent for 2 fb^{-1}. By the end of RunIIa, the limits should be easily extended beyond those set by LEP and HERA for excited leptons with mass above about 190 GeV.Comment: 4 pages, 8 figure
