Manually tracked antenna is the most critical part of range recording system which has signal strength recording responses from dc to 20 kHz. The system records all polarizations simultaneously

The Determinants of Entrepreneurial Income in South Carolina

    Get PDF
Supporters claim that entrepreneurship is critical to building and sustaining the economy of urban and rural areas across the nation. Proponents argue that economic development practices that enhance and support entrepreneurship are essential because they cultivate innovation which, in turn, provides the area with new jobs, new wealth, and a better quality of life. However, self-employment income growth in South Carolina in particular and in the United States in general has lagged growth in income from other sources. This fact raises the need to study the determinants of self-employed income. Using the literature as a guide, a conceptual model was developed that consist of independent variables based on personal characteristics, resource availability, and economic structure. The investigation of the determinants of self-employed income in South Carolina is carried out using a regression of the natural logarithmic of self-employed income in 2008 on the variables selected from the Integrated Public Use Microdata Samples (IPUMS) database based on the conceptual model. In general, empirical results are consistent with expected outcomes. Policy implications focus on numerous programs that economic development agencies can implement to increase the availability of resources to entrepreneurs and help meet training needs

Fierce Flames and the Golden Lotus: Case Studies on the Madness and Creativity Connection

A historical/biographical analysis of the connection between creativity and a variety of psychoses including: syphilis, epilepsy, schizophenia and manic-depression/bi-polar disorder. The figures examined are Gustave Flaubert, Hector Berlioz, Friedrich Nietzsche, Rainer Maria Rilke, Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath

Late onset and asymmetric sensorineural hearing loss in pediatric cancer survivors following treatment with cisplatin containing chemotherapy regimes

    Get PDF
This study aims to determine the prevalence of asymmetric hearing loss (AHL) and late onset hearing loss (LOHL) in pediatric cancer patients treated with cisplatin and the risk factors for both AHL and LOHL. This study will also examine the relationship between AHL and LOHL

    COVID-19 Impact on Produce Perks

    Get PDF
Despite the benefits of diets containing fresh fruits and vegetables such as a lower risk of heart disease, very few Americans, especially low-income individuals, consume enough to meet the recommended amounts. For our Honor’s Project our team focused on the Ohio based SNAP-EBT food share program Produce Perks. To do so we studied two sets of data to our answer our research questions; ‘Has COVID-19 further impacted low-income individuals’ fruit and vegetable consumption’, How is the Produce Perks program impacted low-income consumers’, and “How can this program be better marketed to include more low-income individuals. Through our research we were able to quantity how well the program has impacted users lives as well as develop a marketing plan for local farmers markets to increase program awareness

A polychart contour plotter is used to reduce the data from all 19 antenna pattern charts to a one-chart form

Whole Body Learning in the Classroom

    Get PDF
Students with special needs benefit from various modifications and accommodations in the classroom. Due to their specific sensory needs our students thrive in a classroom environment that supports “whole body learning.” This presentation will offer examples of how to best support students in the classroom to not only reach their learning potential but also encourage positive behaviors, social skills, and coping strategies

Performing Protest in Cross-Cultural Spaces: Paul Robeson and Othello

    Get PDF
When the famous African-American actor and singer Paul Robeson played the lead in Shakespeare’s Othello in London in 1930, tickets were in high demand during the production’s first week. The critical response, however, was less positive, although the reviews unanimously praised his bass-baritone delivery. When Robeson again played Othello on Broadway thirteen years later, critics praised not only his voice but also his acting, the drama running for 296 performances. My argument concerning Robeson uses elements first noted by Henri Lefebvre in his seminal work, The Production of Space, while I also draw on Paul Connerton’s work on commemorative practices. Using spatial and memorial theories as a backdrop for examining his two portrayals, I suggest that Robeson’s nascent geopolitical awareness following the 1930 production, combined with his already celebrated musical voice, allowed him to perform the role more dramatically in 1943

Inflammation-induced DNA damage and damage-induced inflammation: a vicious cycle

    Get PDF
Inflammation is the ultimate response to the constant challenges of the immune system by microbes, irritants or injury. The inflammatory cascade initiates with the recognition of microorganism-derived pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and host cell-derived damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) by the pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). DNA as a molecular PAMP or DAMP is sensed directly or via specific binding proteins to instigate pro-inflammatory response. Some of these DNA binding proteins also participate in canonical DNA repair pathways and recognise damaged DNA to initiate DNA damage response. In this review we aim to capture the essence of the complex interplay between DNA damage response and the pro-inflammatory signalling through representative examples
