Indomethacin, a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has been used in different spheres of medicine since the 1960s. It is successfully administered as an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medication in rheumatoid and other diseases. According to recent research, indomethacin may become a promising drug enhancing endogenous remyelination in patients with multiple sclerosis. Also, indomethacin affects cell proliferation and invasion, thus it is used to manage pancreatic cancer in patients with hyperglycemia. In addition, indomethacin can inhibit protein synthesis in colorectal carcinoma and other types of cancer cells. The article reviews modern indomethacin medications and the different dosage forms on the Russian pharmaceutical market. Indomethacin poor water solubility is one of the reasons for decreasing its biopharmaceutical characteristics. According to the conducted research, a prospective way to improve indomethacin solubility and bioavailability is the Solid Dispersion (SD) method. SDs are bi- or multicomponent systems consisting of the drug and the carrier. They are a highly dispersed solid phase of the drug or molecular-dispersed solid solutions with a partial formation of a variable composition complex and a carrier. The article provides a brief overview on different aspects of obtaining, investigating, and applying indomethacin SDs with various polymers.

    Measurement of CP observables in B± → D(⁎)K± and B± → D(⁎)π± decays

    Get PDF
Measurements of CP observables in B ± →D (⁎) K ± and B ± →D (⁎) π ± decays are presented, where D (⁎) indicates a neutral D or D ⁎ meson that is an admixture of D (⁎)0 and D¯ (⁎)0 states. Decays of the D ⁎ meson to the Dπ 0 and Dγ final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon, resulting in distinctive shapes in the B candidate invariant mass distribution. Decays of the D meson are fully reconstructed in the K ± π ∓ , K + K − and π + π − final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons produced in pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0, 1.0 and 2.0 fb −1 taken at centre-of-mass energies of s=7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. The study of B ± →D ⁎ K ± and B ± →D ⁎ π ± decays using a partial reconstruction method is the first of its kind, while the measurement of B ± →DK ± and B ± →Dπ ± decays is an update of previous LHCb measurements. The B ± →DK ± results are the most precise to date

A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) mesons from b-hadron decays are selected in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Describing the lineshape with a Breit-Wigner function, the mass splitting between the chi(c1 )(3872) and psi(2S) states, Delta m, and the width of the chi(c1 )(3872) state, Gamma(Bw), are determined to be (Delta m=185.598 +/- 0.067 +/- 0.068 Mev,)(Gamma BW=1.39 +/- 0.24 +/- 0.10 Mev,) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using a Flatte-inspired model, the mode and full width at half maximum of the lineshape are determined to be (mode=3871.69+0.00+0.05 MeV.)(FWHM=0.22-0.04+0.13+0.07+0.11-0.06-0.13 MeV, ) An investigation of the analytic structure of the Flatte amplitude reveals a pole structure, which is compatible with a quasibound D-0(D) over bar*(0) state but a quasivirtual state is still allowed at the level of 2 standard deviations

VIDEO AS A NEW TESTING FORMAT

Modern technologies give plenty opportunities to education in terms of copying material through a variety of hardware (copiers, printers, scanners, mobile phones, etc.), accessing information in any language and on any subject, participating in on-line conferences, projects and courses and sharing experience through numerous Internet sites. Learning becomes more interesting when a student can get acquainted with the experience of their peers, often living on the other side of the world. In this sense, no other mode of communication can beat video as it embraces image, sound, emotions, sense, meaning and many other things involved, to say nothing about watching as many times as needed. The article studies the possibility of looking at students' videos as a new format of testing the foreign language skills. The existing electronic devices along with the collective institutional experience seem to be a sufficient basis for recognizing this kind of project as exam task type. In this case, things like setting up tasks and objectives, choosing the topic, selecting material and outlining general requests (ex., the length of the video, the deadlines, the evaluation criteria, etc.) are of prime importance. The new testing format sets forth the evaluation system embracing various skills and competences, most of which go far beyond the language skills. However, the final product can give new impetus and whip up motivation in learning foreign languages. The contest of students' videos carried out in the Hotel Business and Tourism Institute of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) gives good material for the analysis of strengths and weaknesses of this innovative type of testing. Developing such competences as educational, communicative, cognitive and professional subject related is taken as the benefit of the project within foreign language teaching curriculum

Translation strategies of legal texts (English-Russian)

    No full text
Modern trends of globalizing economies have exerted its impact on the requirements to legal translation, which has to take into account both the source and the target legal and language cultures and the needs of the reading community. Joint efforts to develop translation theory manifested themselves in comprehensive classification of tools, giving rise to numerous studies of challenges in translating from and to different languages. No wonder that in these works English plays a leading role being recognized as the international language of business communication. The given article is not an exception. It focuses on the analysis of translation strategies applied in rendering legal texts of various genres from English into Russian and vice versa. The priority of accuracy in rendering the semantic scope of the text demands deep knowledge in legal and linguistic domains along with the vast translation experience. It means that to efficiently translate a legal text translator goes to great lengths in search of linguistic and legal parallels between cultures. The focus on such incongruities allows to outline the set of basic translation strategies relevant in practice. The research can be of certain interest not only to linguists but also to lawyers involved in comparative law. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd

REGULARITY OF SEMANTIC SHIFTS IN KINSHIP EXPERIENTIAL CLUSTER IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN

    No full text
The work realizes the second stage of the project devoted to studying semantic content of experiential cluster of kinship in English and Russian. The first article within the topic was devoted to cognitive modelling of this group of lexis (Stepanova 2019). Based on joint properties that characterize all the kinship concepts and individual set of relationships characteristic for a certain term, this research studies their further semantic development reflecting diverse human engagement in economic, social, spiritual, physiological, etc connections between people in the modern society. This language cluster is very rewarding in this respect and allows to be investigated from the cognitive perspective. Further semantic development of this group of words is most often determined by metaphor. The cognitive theory of metaphor looks at semantic transformations as the product of a certain activity of human consciousness and can be explained with the formula of "image + experience". The evolution of thought/idea along the metaphor channel leads to the situation where the image (object, attribute, quality, phenomenon, symbol, etc.) is transferred to a completely new soil and is passed through the already existing system of concepts (experience). As a result, there is an adjustment of the new knowledge/experience to the established old knowledge/experience. Thus, further semantic development of the lexeme signals a change in the categorial structure of consciousness. The methodology of investigation hinges on cognitive approach, where structural methods of cluster organization and indirect nominalization are supported with frame techniques, contextual analysis, comparative and contrastive methods of investigation

FUNCTIONALISM IN LEGAL TRANSLATION: ANOTHER QUEST FOR ITS UNIVERSALITY

    No full text
The global world is constantly broadening the horizons of activities thus formulating the needs for competent translations. Translation in legal sphere is of prime importance as it is involved in governing and regulating all kinds of cooperation among nations. Despite the fact, that legal translation is traditionally included into the general translation studies, a good number of translators have been arguing the feasibility of such approach. The matter has become critical with further development of linguistic theories looking at translation through cross-cultural, cognitive, pragmatic and other aspects of communication. The present research focuses on functional approach in legal translation. Its aim is to prove or disprove its feasibility and universality in terms of types and genres within the legal domain, where both the semantic scope of the text, its structure, organization and conventions within a culture, are of crucial importance. Quality of translation will only benefit if it is oriented on the needs of the final reader with their very particular cultures. The practical part of this work also confirms the main concept of functionalism and statistically proves the efficacy of the approach, which takes addressee's legal and linguistic expectations into consideration. The outcome of the research can contribute to translation studies and is relevant to both practical and educational purpose
