Predictor variables of the perception of success: Differential aspects in route runners
Questionnaire (POSQ), Motivations of Marathoners Scales-34 (MOMS-34),
Commitment to Running Scale-11 (CR-11) y Revised Competitive State Anxiety
Inventory-2 (CSAI-2R).
pero diferenciados por sexos, obteniendo altas varianzas explicativasWe pretended to find out which predictive relationships would be introduced by
motivation, commitment to run, negative addiction to run and pre-competition
anxiety, concerning the winning perception of a broad sample of 1795 track
long-distance runners (1105 Spanish, 690 Mexicans). Of them, 85.65% were
men, ages M=37.88 (SD=10.45) and 14.35% were women, ages M=37.88
(SD=9.80). The data was obtained by adapting to Spanish the following:
“Perception of Success Questionnaire” (POSQ), “Motivations of Marathoners
Scales-34 (MOMS-34), Commitment to Running Scale-11 (CR-11) and Revised
Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2R). The values obtained on the
winning orientations of the runners were average and similar, although
significantly higher in the Mexican sample, due to their higher commitment and
motivation, as well as the cultural differences between these nationalities. The
predicting models of the success perception obtained were very similar by
nationality, but differentiated by sex, obtaining high explicatory variance
Analysis of different vibration patterns to guide blind people
[EN] The literature indicates the best vibration positions and frequencies on the human body where tactile information is transmitted. However, there is a lack of knowledge about how to combine tactile stimuli for navigation. The aim of this study is to compare different vibration patterns outputted to blind people and to determine the most intuitive vibration patterns to indicate direction for navigation purposes through a tactile belt. The vibration patterns that stimulate the front side of the waist are preferred for indicating direction. Vibration patterns applied on the back side of the waist could be suitable for sending messages such as stop. This research is supported by Seventh European Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement 605821 (BLINDTRACK). Microwave-driven synthesis of bisphosphonate nanoparticles allows in vivo visualisation of atherosclerotic plaque
A fast and reproducible microwave-driven process has allowed us to synthesise neridronate-functionalised nanoparticles. Contrary to tradition, the phosphate groups decorate the outside layer of the particles providing Ca2+ binding properties in vitro and selective accumulation in vivo in the atheroma plaque. In vivo and ex vivo detection by T2-weighted MRI is demonstrated and validated by histology. The accumulation in the plaque takes place in less than one hour following the intravenous injection, which is particularly suitable for clinical applications
Summability of the perturbative expansion for a zero-dimensional disordered spin model
We show analytically that the perturbative expansion for the free energy of
the zero dimensional (quenched) disordered Ising model is Borel-summable in a
certain range of parameters, provided that the summation is carried out in two
steps: first, in the strength of the original coupling of the Ising model and
subsequently in the variance of the quenched disorder. This result is
illustrated by some high-precision calculations of the free energy obtained by
a straightforward numerical implementation of our sequential summation method.Comment: LaTeX, 12 pages and 4 figure
Hydrogenation of 4-nitrochlorobenzene catalysed by cobalt nanoparticles supported on nitrogen-doped activated carbon
The hydrogenation of nitroarenes to produce the corresponding amines using dihydrogen as reducing agent has an important industrial role, since it allows to obtain important added-value products. This reaction needs the help of a catalyst to proceed. Many catalysts have been already tested and studied. Most of them are based on noble metals supported on metal oxides. These catalysts perform well, but they are expensive and thus, alternative systems are needed. In this context, cobalt-based catalysts have emerged as adequate alternatives, despite cobalt nanoparticles per se are not very active for this reaction. A way to improve the catalytic activity of cobalt nanoparticles is by supporting them on a support with functional groups that are able to change their intrinsic properties and to enhance their catalytic properties. In this sense, N-containing carbons are promising candidates to be used as support, since nitrogen functionalities may modify the catalytic properties of cobalt. In this work, cobalt nanoparticles supported on N-doped activated carbons have been prepared and studied as catalysts for the hydrogenation of 1-chloro-4-nitrobencene to the corresponding chloro-aniline. It is demonstrated that the catalytic activity is enhanced by the presence of nitrogen species in the support. When the temperature of the catalyst activation treatment (reduction under flowing hydrogen) is increased, the catalytic activity increases drastically in the presence of nitrogen functionalities on the support. The catalysts have been characterised by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopi (XPS) and N2 adsorption at 77 K. It has been found that the enhanced catalytic activity was due to two different factors, namely the interaction of the cobalt particles with the nitrogen functional groups (forming Co4N), and the development of mesopores in the support during the activation process that increases the accessibility of reactants to the active sites.Authors acknowledge financial support by MINECO (Spain) through the projects MAT2017-86992-R and MAT2016-80285-P and the European Union for the project “eForFuel”, grant agreement 763911. Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles for Atherosclerosis Imaging
The production of magnetic nanoparticles of utmost quality for biomedical imaging requires several steps, from the synthesis of highly crystalline magnetic cores to the attachment of the different molecules on the surface. This last step probably plays the key role in the production of clinically useful nanomaterials. The attachment of the different biomolecules should be performed in a defined and controlled fashion, avoiding the random adsorption of the components that could lead to undesirable byproducts and ill-characterized surface composition. In this work, we review the process of creating new magnetic nanomaterials for imaging, particularly for the detection of atherosclerotic plaque, in vivo. Our focus will be in the different biofunctionalization techniques that we and several other groups have recently developed. Magnetic nanomaterial functionalization should be performed by chemoselective techniques. This approach will facilitate the application of these nanomaterials in the clinic, not as an exception, but as any other pharmacological compound. The authors thank the Spanish Ministry of Science (SAF2011-25445), the Comunidad de Madrid (S2010/BMD-2326, Inmunothercan-CM, NANOCOPD-CIBERES-CIBERBBN-SEPAR), and the EU 7th Framework Program (FP7-PEOPLE-ITN-264864 Pinet and FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN CardioNext).S
Dimensionality and reliability of the online version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) in a large Colombian sample : Results from the PSY-COVID study
Altres ajuts: acords transformatius de la UABThe Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) is an ultra-brief screening instrument to measure depressive and anxiety symptoms. This study evaluated the dimensionality and reliability of the online version of the PHQ-4 in a large sample of the general population in Colombia. Data were collected during the first phase of lockdown measures occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 18,061 adult participants completed the online version of the PHQ-4. The characteristics of the items and subscales were explored. Dimensionality was examined using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), including an examination of invariance (configural, metric, and scalar) across socio-demographic characteristics. Reliability indices were computed and known-groups validity was addressed by estimating associations between PHQ-4 scores and socio-demographic characteristics. The CFA showed significantly adequate fit indices for the expected two-factor structure, being invariant across gender, age, income level, education level, and region. Internal consistency was satisfactory for the PHQ-2 (α =.83), the GAD-2 (α =.79), and the PHQ-4 (α =.86). Higher scores on depressive (PHQ-2), anxiety (GAD-2), and psychological distress (PHQ-4) symptoms in females and young people, and those respondents with lower income, unemployed, and lower level of education were observed. The findings indicate that the PHQ-4 is a reliable scale for depressive and anxiety symptoms among adult Colombian people, being recommendable this tool for online surveys
