    Free-surface elevation due to moving pressure distributions in three dimensions

    An efficient and accurate technique is described for computing the linearised free-surface disturbance of a travelling pressure distribution. The flow is decomposed into local and far-field components which can then be treated and calculated separately. A method for desingularising the local-field integrand so that the free-surface elevation can be calculated beneath the applied pressure patch is presented. Near-field and far-field results are given for constant-pressure rectangular patches, and for non-uniform pressure distributions, including examples with both smooth and singular edge behaviour.D. C.
