La riprogettazione post sisma: verso nuove reti di engagement all-of-society
The article presents the results of a study aimed at investigating the engage-ment networks activated in the planning process of the territories affected by the 2016 earthquake in the Marche region. The research objective is to reflect on communica-tion strategies implemented by a selection of municipal administrations to promote transparency and information sharing and, at the same time, citizen participation in design and planning processes. The results highlight the emergence of an all-of-soci-ety engagement approach, to experiment and co-create with a renewed relationship between institutions, science, and local communities
Social Media and Gender Violence: Communication Strategies for a âNew Educationâ
This study investigates the role of social media in cultural awarenessraising and engagement in the struggle against gender violence. The study was conducted using a quantitative/qualitative analysis approach of around 20 Italian social websites-platforms-pages dealing with the phenomenon of femicide. The analysis considers three main indicators: presence of Web spaces for awarenessraising (e.g. advertising campaigns, contest); the existence of Web channels and participatory tools targeting the achievement of shared objectives and projects (e.g. signatures, online petitions); activation of online educational courses (e.g. information-based pages on the themes and terms of gender-based violence, creation of âpedagogicalâ and comparative spaces). The study sought to detect the extent to which the opportunities offered by new technologies in terms of social channel use, the viral spread of messages, and even the capacity to create new spaces for shared reflection, actually have an educational/pedagogical purpose rather than a merely awareness-raising or mobilization function
Discovery and Functional Categorisation of Expressed Sequence Tags from Flowers of \u3cem\u3eEragrostis Curvula\u3c/em\u3e Genotypes Showing Different Ploidy Levels and Reproductive Modes
Two novel genotypes of weeping lovegrass (Eragrostis curvula) - a dihaploid strain obtained in vitro from an apomictic cultivar and a tetraploid plant derived from the dihaploid after chromosome duplication â have recently been developed. These materials represent an excellent system for the identification, through transcriptional profiling, of genes involved in diplospory and/or ploidy level gene regulation. The aim of this work was the discovery and functional classification of expressed sequence tags (ESTs) from immature inflorescences of the apomictic E. curvula cultivar Tanganyika (2n=4x=40), a dihaploid sexual strain derived from it (2n=2x=20) and a tetraploid sexual strain (2n=4x=40) obtained by colchicine duplication of the dihaploid

Mutation of NIMA-related kinase 1 (NEK1) leads to chromosome instability
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>NEK1, the first mammalian ortholog of the fungal protein kinase never-in-mitosis A (NIMA), is involved early in the DNA damage sensing/repair pathway. A defect in DNA repair in NEK1-deficient cells is suggested by persistence of DNA double strand breaks after low dose ionizing radiation (IR). NEK1-deficient cells also fail to activate the checkpoint kinases CHK1 and CHK2, and fail to arrest properly at G1/S or G2/M-phase checkpoints after DNA damage.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We show here that NEK1-deficient cells suffer major errors in mitotic chromosome segregation and cytokinesis, and become aneuploid. These NEK1-deficient cells transform, acquire the ability to grow in anchorage-independent conditions, and form tumors when injected into syngeneic mice. Genomic instability is also manifest in <it>NEK1 </it>+/- mice, which late in life develop lymphomas with a much higher incidence than wild type littermates.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>NEK1 is required for the maintenance of genome stability by acting at multiple junctures, including control of chromosome stability.</p
Measurement of the mass and lifetime of the baryon
A proton-proton collision data sample, corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of 3 fb collected by LHCb at and 8 TeV, is used
to reconstruct , decays. Using the , decay mode for calibration, the lifetime ratio and absolute
lifetime of the baryon are measured to be \begin{align*}
\frac{\tau_{\Omega_b^-}}{\tau_{\Xi_b^-}} &= 1.11\pm0.16\pm0.03, \\
\tau_{\Omega_b^-} &= 1.78\pm0.26\pm0.05\pm0.06~{\rm ps}, \end{align*} where the
uncertainties are statistical, systematic and from the calibration mode (for
only). A measurement is also made of the mass difference,
, and the corresponding mass, which
yields \begin{align*} m_{\Omega_b^-}-m_{\Xi_b^-} &= 247.4\pm3.2\pm0.5~{\rm
MeV}/c^2, \\ m_{\Omega_b^-} &= 6045.1\pm3.2\pm 0.5\pm0.6~{\rm MeV}/c^2.
\end{align*} These results are consistent with previous measurements.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, All figures and tables, along with any

Observation of two new baryon resonances
Two structures are observed close to the kinematic threshold in the mass spectrum in a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb recorded by the LHCb experiment.
In the quark model, two baryonic resonances with quark content are
expected in this mass region: the spin-parity and
states, denoted and .
Interpreting the structures as these resonances, we measure the mass
differences and the width of the heavier state to be
MeV,
MeV,
MeV, where the first and second
uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The width of the
lighter state is consistent with zero, and we place an upper limit of
MeV at 95% confidence level. Relative
production rates of these states are also reported.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figure
Bose-Einstein correlations of same-sign charged pions in the forward region in pp collisions at âs=7 TeV
Bose-Einstein correlations of same-sign charged pions, produced in protonproton collisions at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy, are studied using a data sample collected
by the LHCb experiment. The signature for Bose-Einstein correlations is observed in the
form of an enhancement of pairs of like-sign charged pions with small four-momentum
difference squared. The charged-particle multiplicity dependence of the Bose-Einstein correlation parameters describing the correlation strength and the size of the emitting source
is investigated, determining both the correlation radius and the chaoticity parameter. The
measured correlation radius is found to increase as a function of increasing charged-particle
multiplicity, while the chaoticity parameter is seen to decreas
Constraints on the unitarity triangle angle from Dalitz plot analysis of decays
The first study is presented of CP violation with an amplitude analysis of
the Dalitz plot of decays, with , and . The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to
of collisions collected with the LHCb detector. No
significant CP violation effect is seen, and constraints are placed on the
angle of the unitarity triangle formed from elements of the
Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix. Hadronic parameters associated
with the decay are determined for the first time. These
measurements can be used to improve the sensitivity to of existing and
future studies of the decay.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and
