    Informe organizado en cinco capítulos. En "El sistema de comunicación en Guadalajara" se incluyen trabajos sobre la transformación de algunos medios de comunicación, nuevos medios de comunicación en línea, periodismo religioso, la falta de institucionalidad en el Sistema Jalisciense de Radio y Televisión, y el sistema legal de radiodifusión y telecomunicaciones. En "Libertad de expresión en Jalisco", se presentan trabajos sobre la inseguridad laboral en los medios de comunicación, el desinformado cuarto de guerra del gobernador Aristóteles Sandoval, y sobre los periodistas escritores. En el apartado "Derecho a la información en Jalisco", se presenta un trabajo sobre la mucha administración y dosificada transparencia del Instituto de Trasparencia e Información Pública de Jalisco. El quinto apartado es una semblanza sobre “Rudy”, Rodolfo Rosales López, fotoperiodista tapatío.     En esta séptima entrega de Q ITESO: Análisis Crítico de Medios se examina un 2014 colmado de acontecimientos sobre la reconfiguración de los medios de Jalisco y del país, y sus relaciones con el estado, los empresarios y el público. Destaca la aprobación de la Ley Federal de Telecomunicaciones y Radiocomunicación y los nuevos equilibrios de poder que esto supone. También, se analizan las alianzas de algunos diarios nacionales y del estado con medios extranjeros, para compensar algunas carencias y ampliar su oferta editorial e informativa. Otras cuestiones no menos relevantes tienen que ver con la libertad de expresión y la inseguridad laboral en la que viven muchos trabajadores de los medios de comunicación jaliscienses, sobre todo los impresos, y el caso emblemático del llamado “cuarto de guerra” al servicio del gobernador del estado, Aristóteles Sandoval, para espiar -y en ocasiones hasta coaccionar- a directivos y reporteros de medios para atenuar la crítica al gobierno.     Varus mechanism is associated with high incidence of popliteal artery lesions in multiligament knee injuries

    Purpose This study aims to identify multiple ligament knee injury patterns that possess a high-risk of vascular lesion. Methods We retrospectively compared torn ligament patterns and the presence of vascular lesions confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography angiography from 122 consecutive patients with diagnoses of multiple ligament knee injury made at the emergency department between January 2012 and December 2017. Patients were not eligible if they had an ipsilateral lower extremity lesion (dislocations or fractures at another level), initial evaluation at another hospital, or follow-up for less than 12 months. The primary outcomes were the comparison between the imaging findings of torn structures patterns and the presence of a vascular lesion. Results We identified 48 eligible patients (50 knees) with multiligamentary knee lesions, of whom eight had popliteal artery damage, yielding an incidence of 16%. Our clinical examination detected six of these patients that were classified, according to the Schenck system, as KD-IIIL (6 knees) and KD-IIIM(2 knees). The odds of having a popliteal artery injury is 4.69 to 1 with a KD-IIIL injury that with any other type of injury on that classification (95% CI 0.960–22.98). Conclusions This data suggests that varus forces causing enough energy to produce a KD-IIIL lesion possess a higher popliteal artery injury risk, making recommendable a thorough examination of the vascular integrity when diagnosing a KD-IIIL lesion

    Protohistoric mining in the Extremadura: The case of in the Cerro de San Cristóbal de Logrosán (Cáceres)

    Este artículo resume los trabajos realizados en el Cerro de San Cristóbal (Logrosán, Cáceres) entre  1998  y 2002.  Dichos  trabajos,  impulsados  por  el Dr.  Craig  Merideth  hasta  su muerte en 2005,  permitieron  reconocer  un asentamiento  minero-metalúrgico especializado  en el be- nef icio de la casiterita. Pese a estar muy alterado por las explotaciones de los años cincuenta del siglo XX, se pudieron  documentar  restos de cabañas,  trazas de labores  antiguas  y ciertos aspectos de la “cadena operativa” de la explotación y uso del estaño en este enclave. Todo ello  se enmarca  en un contexto  crono-cultural  de los  siglos  IX/VIII-VII/VI  a.C.,  durante  el cual el actual territorio extremeño se conformó como periferia tartésica. Por otra parte, se avanzan los resultados metalúrgicos preliminares de las nuevas actuaciones llevadas a cabo en 2013 en el Cerro de San Cristóbal  tras su declaración  como “geositio”  dentro del Geoparque “Villuercas-Ibores-Jara”.In this paper the archaeological work carried out in Cerro de San Cristóbal (Logrosán, Cáceres) during the period 1998 to 2002 is summarized. The work, led by Dr. Craig Merideth until his  death  in 2005, allowed  to document  what was interpreted  as a mining-metallurgical site specialized  in the  treatment  of cassiterite.  Despite  being  the prehistoric  layers  disturbed by  contemporary,  1950´s,  mining  works,  it  was  possible  to  document  traces  of  prehistoric mining,  remains  of  elliptical  huts  and  some  of  the  steps  of  the  proposed  operational  chain for the mining and processing of tin in the site. The chronological/cultural context for the archaeological register was placed between the 9th-8th/7th-6th  centuries B.C., during which the present-day Extremadura territory was conformed as a Tartesian periphery. Also, the preliminary metallurgical results of the recent (summer 2013, after its declaration as a “Geosite” within the “Villuercas-Ibores-Jara” Geopark) archaeological  excavation in Cerro de San Cristóbal are presented

    A horizon scan exercise for aquatic invasive alien species in Iberian inland waters

    As the number of introduced species keeps increasing unabatedly, identifying and prioritising current and potential Invasive Alien Species (IAS) has become essential to manage them. Horizon Scanning (HS), defined as an exploration of potential threats, is considered a fundamental component of IAS management. By combining scientific knowledge on taxa with expert opinion, we identified the most relevant aquatic IAS in the Iberian Peninsula, i.e., those with the greatest geographic extent (or probability of introduction), severe ecological, economic and human health impacts, greatest difficulty and acceptability of management. We highlighted the 126 most relevant IAS already present in Iberian inland waters (i.e., Concern list) and 89 with a high probability of being introduced in the near future (i.e., Alert list), of which 24 and 10 IAS, respectively, were considered as a management priority after receiving the highest scores in the expert assessment (i.e., top-ranked IAS). In both lists, aquatic IAS belonging to the four thematic groups (plants, freshwater invertebrates, estuarine invertebrates, and vertebrates) were identified as having been introduced through various pathways from different regions of the world and classified according to their main functional feeding groups. Also, the latest update of the list of IAS of Union concern pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 1143/2014 includes only 12 top-ranked IAS identified for the Iberian Peninsula, while the national lists incorporate the vast majority of them. This fact underlines the great importance of taxa prioritisation exercises at biogeographical scales as a step prior to risk analyses and their inclusion in national lists. This HS provides a robust assessment and a cost-effective strategy for decision-makers and stakeholders to prioritise the use of limited resources for IAS prevention and management. Although applied at a transnational level in a European biodiversity hotspot, this approach is designed for potential application at any geographical or administrative scale, including the continental one

    Black list and Alert list of the Aquatic Invasive Alien Species in the Iberian Peninsula: an action of the LIFE INVASAQUA

    Resumen del trabajo presentado en VI Congreso Nacional sobre Especies Exóticas Invasoras y I Congreso Ibérico sobre EEI (EEI 2022) celebrado en Navarra del 20 al 23 de abril de 2022.One of the objectives of LIFE INVASQUA project is to develop tools that will be more efficient the Early Warning and Rapid Response (EWRR) framework for Invasive Alien Species in the Iberian Peninsula. Horizon scanning for high-risk IAS is basic in implementing measures to reduce new invasions, developing Alert lists, and to focus effort in the species already established, for instance making a Black list. We developed a trans national horizon scanning exercise focused on inland waters of Spain and Portugal in order to provide a prioritized lists (Black list and Alert list) of aquatic IAS that may pose a threat to aquatic ecosystems and socio economic sectors in the future. We followed a step approach of existing information about IAS (Plants, Freshwater Invertebrates, Estuarine Invertebrates and Vertebrates; 127 established taxa in Black list; 90 non established taxa in Alert list) combining with an expert scoring of prioritized taxa. IAS established in the Iberian aquatic system consistently highlighted as the worst included vertebrates (e.g. Cyprinus carpio, Gambusia holbrooki, Silurus glanis), freshwater and estuarine invertebrates (e.g. Procambarus clarkii, Dreissena polymorpha, Pacifastacus leniusculus, Ficopomatus enigmaticus, Callinectes sapidus, Corbicula fluminea) and plants (e.g. Eichhornia crassipes, Azolla filiculoides, Ludwigia grandiflora). Amongst taxa not yet established (Alert list), expert pointed to Perna viridis, Hydroides dirampha, Dreissena bugensis, Procambarus fallax f. virginallis, Perccottus glenii with higher risk of invasion, ecological and socioeconomic impacts. Over 20.6% of the taxa in the preliminary black list received no votes (no prioritization) by experts, 17.8% in the innitial alert list. Our horizon scanning approach is inclusive of all-taxa, prioritizes both established and emerging biological threats across trans-national scales, and considers not only the ecological impact, but also potential direct economic consequences as well as the manageability of invasive species.This work received funds from the LIFE Programme (LIFE17 GIE/ES/000515)
