La traduction et localisation des jeux vidéo : problèmes et difficultés, censure et privilèges de l’anglais par rapport aux autres langues
Actuellement l’industrie des jeux vidéo est une des plus lucratives du monde grâce au grand développement qu’elle a eue au cours des années. Un des éléments qui a aidé ce développement est la traduction et localisation des jeux vidéo. La localisation d’un jeu vidéo présente des problèmes différents à ceux qu’on trouve dans d’autres produits. Ces localisations ont évolué et amélioré depuis les années 80 jusqu’à l’actualité. Ce travail montre cette évolution et explique les différents problèmes de traduction au cours des années, les divers éléments à traduire d’un jeu ainsi que la censure qu’on peut trouver dans l’industrie.On peut remarquer que l’anglais a une position privilégiée dans l’industrie et à cause de cela plusieurs œuvres ne sont pas traduites directement de leur version originale mais de la traduction anglaise. Ce travail explique les raisons pour lesquelles l’anglais est la langue dominante de l’industrie. Finalement, le travail fait une comparaison entre les versions française, espagnole et anglaise du jeu français Soldats Inconnus avec l’objectif de déterminer si la version espagnole se ressemble plus à la version française ou à l’anglaise.<br /
Competiciones de programación. Estímulo y salida laboral para los alumnos
Las competiciones de programación son un estímulo
importante para los alumnos de informática. Durante
los últimos años ha crecido el número de estas competiciones
en su mayoría promovidas por grandes empresas
con el propósito de reclutar alumnos brillantes.
La International Collegiate Programming Contest
es la más antigua de ellas, promovida por la ACM y
patrocinada por IBM. A la final mundial van los mejores
equipos de cada una de las más de 90 competiciones
regionales que tienen lugar por todo el mundo.
La regional en la que pueden participar las universidades
españolas es la Southwestern Europe Regional
Contest (España, Italia, Portugal, Suiza, Francia y Austria).
Esta regional fue organizada por la Escola Tècnica
Superior d’Enginyeria Informàtica de la Universitat
Politècnica de València en su edición de 2012 y lo será
también en 2013.
En este trabajo se presenta la experiencia de planificación
de una regional, tanto a nivel organizativo como
de planteamiento de los problemas para la competición.
Asimismo, se destaca la importancia de este
tipo de competiciones en cuanto al desarrollo de habilidades
y destrezas en los alumnos, pues su dedicación
a solucionar distintos tipos de problemas, combinando
conocimientos de matemáticas con técnicas algorítmicas,
les da una formación adicional que saben apreciar
las grandes empresas. Algunos alumnos de la ETSInf
que han participado en estas competiciones están en
proceso o ya han sido contratados por empresas del
sector como es Google.SUMMARY -- Programming contests are a good stimulus for computer
engineering students. These contests have experienced
an expansion during last years thanks to the interest
of big companies for hiring brilliant students.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest
is the oldest one, promoted by ACM and sponsored by
IBM. The ACM-ICPC World Final takes place every
year, only the best teams can participate, which are selected
from the ones who compete in the more than 90
regional contests celebrated around the world. Spanish
universities can participate in the Southwestern Europe
Regional Contest (Spain, Italy, Portugal, France and
Austria). The 2012 edition of this regional contest took
place in Valencia, organised by the School of Computer
Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València.
The 2013 edition will be organised in Valencia as
well.
In this paper it is presented the experience of planning
a regional contest, both from the point of view of
organisation as from posing the problems. Additionally,
it is pointed out the value of this sort of programming
contests as they foster the development of some
abilities and skills in students, because the time they
spend solving problems where the knowledge of mathematical
concepts and of algorithmic techniques is
very important. This fact gives students a special training
very appreciated by big software companies. Some
former students from ETSInf who participated in
international programming contests were hired or are
in process of being hired by Google

This study presents an exceptional collection of 54 Late Pleistocene human remains that correspond to at least three Neanderthal individuals from Simanya Gran, the main gallery of Cova Simanya, located in the northeastern Iberian Peninsula. The collection comprised 53 unpublished remains that were unearthed during the 1970s and an additional tooth discovered during 2021 excavations. The specimens represent an adult with a small stature, a periadolescent aged approximately 11.5 years, and an immature individual aged approximately 7.7 years, thus offering a more complete demographic perspective. The collection encompasses diverse anatomical parts including upper and lower dentition, mandible, vertebrae, and limb bones from both the upper and lower extremities. Attempts to extract aDNA were unsuccessful. Renewed archaeological investigations at Cova Simanya have facilitated the reevaluation of the original stratigraphic context of these remains, leading to the discovery of the additional tooth, aligning with the periadolescent individual. This assemblage is currently the most extensive Neanderthal collection from the northeastern Mediterranean Iberia, offering invaluable insights into the morphology and evolutionary trajectory of Late Pleistocene hominins. Hence, Simanya Neanderthals will enhance our understanding of Neanderthal demographics and evolution, paving the way for an in-depth examination of the morphological diversity and evolutionary context of Iberian Neanderthals.Peer reviewe
The Relation of CUN-BAE Index with Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference in Adults Aged 50 to 85 Years: The MCC-Spain Study
[EN] Backgound: Traditional anthropometrics such as body mass index (BMI) or waist circumference (WC) do not fully capture the complex biology of body fat (BF) in the elderly. The Clinica Universidad de Navarra-Body Adiposity Estimator (CUN-BAE) index, based on BMI, is proposed as a better indicator of BF. However, its relation with BMI is not clear. The aim was to compare the agreement between CUN-BAE, BMI, and WC in those aged ≥50 years. Methods: A cross-sectional sample of 3153 Caucasian healthy adults was taken from the MCC-Spain study. The Pearson’s correlation and its 95% confidence interval (CI), adiposity distribution, and Kappa Index (95%CI) were calculated. Results: The correlation of CUN-BAE with WC is 0.18 (95%CI 0.14–0.21) and that with BMI is moderate (r 0.58; 95%CI 0.55–0.60), but both increased strongly by sex. Agreement (normal weight/overweight/obesity) of CUN-BAE with BMI is 7% and with WC is 18%. Conclusions: The correlation and the degree of agreement of CUN-BAE with BMI and WC are low in individuals aged over 50, but it is higher by sex. Thus, this different criterion of obesity may have clinical applications. More studies with a gold standard are needed to evaluate the CUN-BAE in elderly adults.S
Examining the immune signatures of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnancy and the impact on neurodevelopment: Protocol of the SIGNATURE longitudinal study.
The COVID-19 pandemic represents a valuable opportunity to carry out cohort studies that allow us to advance our knowledge on pathophysiological mechanisms of neuropsychiatric diseases. One of these opportunities is the study of the relationships between inflammation, brain development and an increased risk of suffering neuropsychiatric disorders. Based on the hypothesis that neuroinflammation during early stages of life is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and confers a greater risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders, we propose a cohort study of SARS-CoV-2-infected pregnant women and their newborns. The main objective of SIGNATURE project is to explore how the presence of prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection and other non-infectious stressors generates an abnormal inflammatory activity in the newborn. The cohort of women during the COVID-19 pandemic will be psychological and biological monitored during their pregnancy, delivery, childbirth and postpartum. The biological information of the umbilical cord (foetus blood) and peripheral blood from the mother will be obtained after childbirth. These samples and the clinical characterisation of the cohort of mothers and newborns, are tremendously valuable at this time. This is a protocol report and no analyses have been conducted yet, being currently at, our study is in the recruitment process step. At the time of this publication, we have identified 1,060 SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers and all have already given birth. From the total of identified mothers, we have recruited 537 SARS-COV-2 infected women and all of them have completed the mental health assessment during pregnancy. We have collected biological samples from 119 mothers and babies. Additionally, we have recruited 390 non-infected pregnant women
Comprehensive description of clinical characteristics of a large systemic Lupus Erythematosus Cohort from the Spanish Rheumatology Society Lupus Registry (RELESSER) with emphasis on complete versus incomplete lupus differences
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multiple organ involvement and pronounced racial and ethnic heterogeneity. The aims of the present work were (1) to describe the cumulative clinical characteristics of those patients included in the Spanish Rheumatology Society SLE Registry (RELESSER), focusing on the differences between patients who fulfilled the 1997 ACR-SLE criteria versus those with less than 4 criteria (hereafter designated as incomplete SLE (iSLE)) and (2) to compare SLE patient characteristics with those documented in other multicentric SLE registries. RELESSER is a multicenter hospital-based registry, with a collection of data from a large, representative sample of adult patients with SLE (1997 ACR criteria) seen at Spanish rheumatology departments. The registry includes demographic data, comprehensive descriptions of clinical manifestations, as well as information about disease activity and severity, cumulative damage, comorbidities, treatments and mortality, using variables with highly standardized definitions. A total of 4.024 SLE patients (91% with ≥4 ACR criteria) were included. Ninety percent were women with a mean age at diagnosis of 35.4 years and a median duration of disease of 11.0 years. As expected, most SLE manifestations were more frequent in SLE patients than in iSLE ones and every one of the ACR criteria was also associated with SLE condition; this was particularly true of malar rash, oral ulcers and renal disorder. The analysis-adjusted by gender, age at diagnosis, and disease duration-revealed that higher disease activity, damage and SLE severity index are associated with SLE [OR: 1.14; 95% CI: 1.08-1.20 (P < 0.001); 1.29; 95% CI: 1.15-1.44 (P < 0.001); and 2.10; 95% CI: 1.83-2.42 (P < 0.001), respectively]. These results support the hypothesis that iSLE behaves as a relative stable and mild disease. SLE patients from the RELESSER register do not appear to differ substantially from other Caucasian populations and although activity [median SELENA-SLEDA: 2 (IQ: 0-4)], damage [median SLICC/ACR/DI: 1 (IQ: 0-2)], and severity [median KATZ index: 2 (IQ: 1-3)] scores were low, 1 of every 4 deaths was due to SLE activity. RELESSER represents the largest European SLE registry established to date, providing comprehensive, reliable and updated information on SLE in the southern European population
Characterization of tomato Cycling Dof Factors reveals conserved and new functions in the control of flowering time and abiotic stress responses
[EN] DNA binding with One Finger (DOF) transcription factors are involved in multiple aspects of plant growth and development but their precise roles in abiotic stress tolerance are largely unknown. Here we report a group of five tomato DOF genes, homologous to Arabidopsis Cycling DOF Factors (CDFs), that function as transcriptional regulators involved in responses to drought and salt stress and flowering-time control in a gene-specific manner. SlCDF15 are nuclear proteins that display specific binding with different affinities to canonical DNA target sequences and present diverse transcriptional activation capacities in vivo. SlCDF15 genes exhibited distinct diurnal expression patterns and were differentially induced in response to osmotic, salt, heat, and low-temperature stresses. Arabidopsis plants overexpressing SlCDF1 or SlCDF3 showed increased drought and salt tolerance. In addition, the expression of various stress-responsive genes, such as COR15, RD29A, and RD10, were differentially activated in the overexpressing lines. Interestingly, overexpression in Arabidopsis of SlCDF3 but not SlCDF1 promotes late flowering through modulation of the expression of flowering control genes such as CO and FT.
