Il saggio di Giorgio Bertellini "Il Divo e Il Duce" è finalmente tradotto per il mercato italiano, edito da Le Monnier. Il volume corposo (400 pagine) sana considerevoli lacune storiografiche aprendo al contempo nuove piste di indagine. Nel dettaglio, propone una lettura inedita sul confronto che avviene tra divismo cinematografico – siamo in piena epoca del muto – e celebrità in ambito politico. Bertellini si sofferma, in particolare, sul concetto di “autorità” riscontrabile nel discorso pubblico statunitense negli anni Venti, dato che emerge dalla capillare ricerca effettuata dall’autore sulle fonti d’epoca

"Il primo film tutto parlato in italiano”. Il dibattito dedicato a "Sei tu l’amore?" nella stampa d’epoca

La tradizione storiografica attribuisce a La canzone dell’amore – film diretto da Gennaro Righelli e prodotto dalla Cines Pittaluga nel 1930 – il merito di essere stata la prima pellicola sonora parlata in italiano girata in presa diretta. In realtà, compiendo una ricognizione sulla stampa dell’epoca, ci si rende conto che le vicende sono ben più complesse. Sei tu l’amore? – pellicola italofona diretta da Alfredo Sabato e prodotta nello stesso anno dalla Italotone – toglie, infatti, se pure di un soffio, il primato alla produzione Cines. Il film Italotone girerà la Penisola conoscendo un successo immediato spinto dalla novità del parlato, ma al contempo propone al pubblico italiano coevo alcuni modelli normativi e culturali che contrastano con la retorica patriarcale sostenuta dal regime, creando un piccolo, per quanto innocuo, caso di soft power hollywoodiano nell’Italia fascista.La canzone dell’amore – directed by Gennaro Righelli and produced by Cines Pittaluga in 1930 – according to historical studies, is the first sound film direct driven in Italian. The issue is more complex referring to reviews of that time. Sei tu l’amore? – italian movie directed by Alfredo Sabato and produced in the same year by Italotone – comes narrowly before the Cines movie. The film Italotone will be screened with immediate success all over Italy due to the great innovation of the sound, but in the meanwhile shows to italian public cultural and normative models in contrast with the patriarchal rhetoric of Fascism. This caused a little but harmless case of Hollywoodian soft power in fascist Italy

Il consenso planetario di "Lo squalo" è un incentivo senza pari anche per i piccoli produttori italiani che nel giro di brevissimo tempo propongono al pubblico – talvolta su scala mondiale, ed è questo, tra gli altri, il punto nodale – soggetti che ne ricalcano ambientazioni marine recuperando la paura e l’attrazione ataviche verso il predatore di uomini che riemerge dagli abissi, ma è pure la storia di un’alleanza con Hollywood, poiché alcune potenti "major" americane producono progetti di autori italiani considerando proprio quella risposta notevole del pubblico internazionale che le mise in scacco, per quanto inaspettata almeno in una prima fase. Non solo imitazioni dunque, ma tentativi di "sequel", ancorché illegittimi, che rendono queste operazioni surreali, ma in qualche misura coerenti

The profile of patients followed at the Neuroimmunology Clinic at UNIFESP: 20 years analysis

Objective: To describe the clinical activities at the Neuroimmunology Clinic of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) from 1994 to 2013. Method: the final diagnosis of all patients that attended the center was reviewed and established upon specific guidelines for each disease. the number of total appointments and extra clinical activities (reports and prescriptions) were also analyzed, as are part of routine activities. Results: 1,599 patients attended the Clinic from 1994 to 2013: 816 with multiple sclerosis (MS), 172 with clinical isolated syndromes, 178 with neuromyelitis optica (NMO), 216 with other demyelinating disease, 20 with metabolic disorder, 42 with a vascular disease and 155 with other or undetermined diagnosis. A mean 219 outpatient visits and 65 extra clinical activities were performed monthly. Conclusion: We identified that 15% of patients seen have NMO. The Athena X-ray Integral Field Unit (X-IFU)

The X-ray Integral Field Unit (X-IFU) is the high resolution X-ray spectrometer of the ESA Athena X-ray observatory. Over a field of view of 5' equivalent diameter, it will deliver X-ray spectra from 0.2 to 12 keV with a spectral resolution of 2.5 eV up to 7 keV on similar to 5 '' pixels. The X-IFU is based on a large format array of super-conducting molybdenum-gold Transition Edge Sensors cooled at similar to 90 mK, each coupled with an absorber made of gold and bismuth with a pitch of 249 mu m. A cryogenic anti-coincidence detector located underneath the prime TES array enables the non X-ray background to be reduced. A bath temperature of similar to 50 mK is obtained by a series of mechanical coolers combining 15K Pulse Tubes, 4K and 2K Joule-Thomson coolers which pre-cool a sub Kelvin cooler made of a He-3 sorption cooler coupled with an Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerator. Frequency domain multiplexing enables to read out 40 pixels in one single channel. A photon interacting with an absorber leads to a current pulse, amplified by the readout electronics and whose shape is reconstructed on board to recover its energy with high accuracy. The defocusing capability offered by the Athena movable mirror assembly enables the X-IFU to observe the brightest X-ray sources of the sky (up to Crab-like intensities) by spreading the telescope point spread function over hundreds of pixels. Thus the X-IFU delivers low pile-up, high throughput (> 50%), and typically 10 eV spectral resolution at 1 Crab intensities, i.e. a factor of 10 or more better than Silicon based X-ray detectors. In this paper, the current X-IFU baseline is presented, together with an assessment of its anticipated performance in terms of spectral resolution, background, and count rate capability. The X-IFU baseline configuration will be subject to a preliminary requirement review that is scheduled at the end of 2018. The X-IFU will be provided by an international consortium led by France, the Netherlands and Italy, with further ESA member state contributions from Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and contributions from Japan and the United States.Peer reviewe
